I know the big draw is Ernest Hemingway's grave (which is flat and might not be viewable depending on snow levels). Look for the Hemingway grave between to evergreen trees. You should also look to the right of Hemingway for what should be equality notable, Gretchen Fraser. As an Olympian, Gretchen Fraser went to the 1936, 1940, and 1948 winter games, and is the first American to earn a gold medal in alpine skiing! She earned a gold in slalom and a silver in combined. Her gold medal is in the Wood River Museum's "Cabinet of Wonders." If you're a cemetery wanderer, like myself, then there are a lot of small medallions set in concrete memorizing very old graves. Beautifully kept cemetery. The caretaker takes a very good care of this place. We were walking around Ketchum and decided to stop by Hemingway's grave. His and Mary's graves are located toward the back of the cemetery underneath three trees. Again, beautiful cemetery. read more

I was in town to run a marathon in Sun Valley and decided to stop by here to visit Ernest Hemingway's final resting place. I had left my car over at the Sun Valley Mall and walked over. Unfortunately, on Main St, there was no sidewalk. If you decide to do the same, be careful and watch out for traffic! His gravesite is located in the middle of the back row underneath the shade of the trees. Most visitors will leave coins, cigarette lighters, empty liquor bottles, or empty beer cans. read more

The highlight here is Ernest Hemingway's grave, which is under a tree toward the back of the cemetery, more or less in the middle. There is no map to the cemetery that we could find, and when we were there no one was around, so it took us a while, and a few Google searches, to locate the grave. It's a flat stone at ground level, and previous visitors had left things like a PBR bottle and a whisky glass, along with some coins. read more
