Her appointment time was 1:00 and yes, I was 15 minutes behind. Anyone whom has ever visited a hair salon knows that you can't always judge exactly to the minute how long someone's hair will take, which is exactly what happened prior to her appointment time. A color that took longer than expected. During our consultation, she asked me what I thought of her previous color, whether she should do something different or just keep it the same and touch up her roots. Her color was dark, shiny, and matched her complexion nicely, so my professional opinion was for her to keep what she had and touch up her roots. Not because I was behind, and not because I was rushing her, as she stated she felt. We both agreed and I mixed and applied her color. I always stack my colors (apply one color and while they process, apply another. Finish out the first one while the second one processes, then finish out the second) because otherwise, my clients would be on a waitlist of about two months. Time management. Then, the stylist that she was "passed off to" was my apprentice. It was my apprentice's job to shampoo and style her. That's how she learned and received her certification hours. She was not put off on anyone due to lack of time. As for the statement of regulars being treated great and new clients being treated like dirt-- I tried to carry on conversation and only received short, one word responses. When a client, new or returning, acts as if they do not want to conversate, I give them their space (some women come in the salon to relax) and I engage in conversation with other people around me. I'm a chatty Kathy, and if you've ever been in my chair or any other stylists chair in the salon, you know that. As for her experience with my apprentice, we were working on her people skills, because she was very timid in engaging in conversation with clients. It was all a part of the learning process. This review has haunted me for two years and being that I do not own the salon, I could not respond when it was first written. So when I revisited Yelp tonight, I decided to just respond via my own "review" to clear up any issues she may have had. Because instead of contacting me directly to let me know she did not enjoy her experience, she created her own assumptions and went to the internet to poison any potential clients.

I went in on March 26 for my first Exilis 360 treatment. I chose my neck area because the skin was…read morevery saggy, but you can do any part of the body you want to re-contour. after 6 treatments (one week apart) I have noticed significant improvement. There was absolutely no pain or discomfort during the treatment for me, and Rebecca is very knowledgeable and personable so she makes sure you know what to expect. She explained that treatments like this take time before you see improvements, so Rebecca had me come back in on 6/25 for a complimentary facial and for some after pictures for comparison. I had taken my own before and after and have seen major improvement. Overall I'm very pleased with the professionalism and the results. These are entries from my blog that reflect the improvements: 4/30 - last Exilis treatment; seeing very small improvements. Will go back on 6/25 for a facial and let Rebecca take after photos so fingers crossed that there is a marked improvement. I see improvement, but not the extreme tightening that I was hoping for yet, but we'll see. 5/6 - seeing more change! That little goozle of skin under my neck is shrinking; skin looks smoother; horizontal wrinkles are less; rings around the neck are looking better, however my tanning habits have made white rings where those wrinkles were, so I need to tan the white parts in order to make that blend in. 6/9 - so, this is 2 months since the Exilis treatments began; I see a big diff in the jowl bags and the neck waddle. Not near as prominent as it once was. Looks like skin is tighter and smoother. Hopefully this will continue to improve as it is not 100%, but looking much better than it did when I began. I have an appointment on 6/25 for a mini facial with Rebecca so we can look at before and after results. Going to ask her if that other laser she has can get this ugly scar tissue from an old spider bite on my leg. 6/25 - so went in for facial. Loved it, but the steam almost killed me! LOL! Anyway, Rebecca treated the old spider bite too, which she said the dark spot is hyperpigmentation; she explained that the fiber blast might remove too much pigment and then I will have a white spot rather than a dark spot; so, she put a chemical peel on it and appeared to make it lighter, but Sunday night after I shaved my legs I noticed a very thin layer of skin was peeling off so I peeled it the rest of the way, and I have to say it is impressively lighter now! Goodbye, old spider bite! Anyway, you can't go wrong with Smart Skin Spa. they've been around for a long time and they really know their stuff. Rebecca is always researching for better methods to help us women improve our skin and therefore, our confidence.

I'm used to stylists guiding me through the steps of the haircut and styling, which I would certainly expect as a new customer. I've been to a lot of salons and I've always felt pretty good with my results, but I did not feel this way at Smart Skin. My hair was a bit frizzy, and it seemed to lack definition. I think there should've been more effort put in to the styling, as it didn't seem professionally done. While I can appreciate that my appointment was able to be scheduled almost immediately, I probably would try a different salon. I'm also not the most social person, so I usually don't mind if my stylist or the front desk staff are not as talkative; however, I would at least expect they make up for it by providing a good haircut/wash/style.
