Bwyty Mawddach is (I think) a beautifully converted barn, full of oak and slate and that breathtaking vista. It's run by Ifan and Amelie, with much of the lamb served in the restaurant farmed on the surrounding land by Ifan's brother. Downstairs is a lounge area, with the main seating area upstairs. I've always been in a big group every time I've been here and can attest that it's a great venue for friends and families. The food is largely local and seasonal. It's reasonably priced and there's a good selection. I've never had any complaints about the service.

The food consisted of burgers, lasagne, wraps, soups, sandwiches and tapas...well I say tapas but there were maybe five different dishes to try from..the salads are really tasty but I've always had a salad here. My companions decided to order the lasagne to be later told it was not available...(why was this information not provided when we first Sat down) so we all opted for a veggie burger.. When it arrived it was pleasant ..but I have had worse I have had better..also the chips were not home made... Snaffling this we chose the lemon and a caramel cheesecake to finish. Here we had to wait for ages for our plates to be cleared because the staff were too busy making out with each other..really professional..and when the waitress finally decided to serve us she placed the fresh drinks down without taking the emptys with her..so our table was left cluttered.. The lemon cheesecake was divine..but this place is very overrated..the menu.is limited, the place is crammed and they stop serving food at 16:00..oh and most of waiters were rubbish..I think I will try Blue Sky again..

A beatuful quaint place that runs like clockwork. There is not much seating but everything…read morenaturally happens.. By the time you've ordered your freshly made crepe from the lovely dutch couple, the customers that were seated have finished and are on their way .. The crepes are huge and have fillings from sour croute to nutella. I personally went for the veggie mushrooms with sour cream . And hey its less than a fiver and believe me they are sooo filling. . Definitely the best crepe house I've been to!

Shop itself is well stocked with both Welsh and English books and a small selection of audio CD's and cards. If a book is not instock, it can be ordered in for the very next day. Staff are bilingual and are true experts at helping you and suggesting new books and authors. There wasn't any indictaion of this from the outside, but at the back of the shop there was a small coffee bar, with a few tables and chair and a very large comfortable sofa, where you could loose hours reading books. Also, there were toilets, computers for surfing the internet and a childrens play area. Very modern, yet the shop still had that vintage feel. You don't get that from WHSmith and Waterstones, that's for sure!

Swn Y Mor is an excellent place to stop for a meal during the day…read more Two sisters from Northamptonshire, England, run this cafe, and one of them is an excellent chef, baker behind this great find just down the hill from Criccieth Castle. I wasn't ready for a full meal, but opted for what turned out to be probably the best dessert I've had since arriving in the United Kingdom a week prior. I ordered the berry and apple pie and one of the sisters recommended adding a hot creamy custard over the top. It was pure heaven along with a pot of traditional tea. They make all of their desserts from scratch, and make them with pride and great skill and elegance. This place is definitely a slice of heaven on earth, and a place not to overlook if you find yourself in the area.
