Since I knew that there would be a photographer, videographer and that I would be displayed on the big screen, I needed a makeup artist. After hours of unsuccessful searching, my partner contacted Nicola at 6pm the evening before my event. Nicola committed to fitting me into her schedule the very next day and was willing to meet me at my hotel. I have a lot of skin discoloration these days and was a bit skeptical that Nicola would have the right makeup shades to suit my face. I was pleasantly surprised when she came with an entire suitcase of makeup that would accommodate my complexion, along with her own makeup chair and ring light. I wanted my makeup to look light and not heavy and she managed to do just that. Her level of professionalism was top notch. She kept me entertained with great conversation while painting my face to perfection. I honestly don't know how Nicola managed to be so efficient and fixed me up in under an hour. I am more than happy with my results. I received a lot of compliments. If you're in the Orlando area, definitely have Nicola do your makeup.

Everyone was booked, but thankfully she had availabilities for all 3 days that I needed her. Ash has an hilarious personality that will make you look forward to your early morning appointments and she makes sure that you're taken care of with snacks and drinks (I think this is only for those that go to her salon though). As for the makeup and hair...LASTED ALL DAY LONG!! I barely needed a touch up! Ash knew what products would work for my face and I'm still blown away by her results. I wasn't even a contestant in the pageant, but she made me feel just as beautiful as them. She's also willing to tell you what products she's using and I've definitely upped my makeup game after coming home. It's also good to note that I gave her creative freedom along with minor details about the events and everything turned out way better than I imagined. I'm not even engaged yet and seriously considering flying her out to wherever my ceremony will be!! Notes: Definitely read her FAQ on how to prep before your appointments. I already go in regularly for facials so I'm assuming that's what helped as well. I also had no idea my regular shampoo and conditioner were heavy products so I was able to switch over to something lighter before going to see her. If you're new to Florida like I was, definitely listen to her recommendations for places to eat! Made my trip sooooo much better. I look forward to working again with her in the future!!! Secondly, every step of the process is thoroughly explained and I got to see in a mirror, the markings, color, etc, and confirmed with me that what I saw was what I wanted. There is so much that goes into a wedding with lots and lots of vendors that need to be selected. A…read moreHindu-American wedding is a HUGE production, with multiple outfit and look changes usually over a couple of days. Not being a huge fan of makeup, I was a little worried about finding a team that would be able to help me with such a massive part of our wedding. I started following About Face Designs on social media and knew they were the ones for me! AFD put all my worries to rest and did an unbelievable job on the hair and makeup for me, my bridesmaids and my family the day of our wedding. Let me start by saying Hindu weddings usually start in the morning and end at night. That meant that ten women were getting ready for a wedding that started at 11:00 am and ended at 11:00 pm. The hair and makeup needed to stand up to a marathon of a day. The team of four showed up at 5:00 am (wide awake, no less!) and got to work. Haley worked with me, completing a daytime look and hair style that worked great with the Indian wedding lehenga (skirt and blouse) and dupatta (veil) that I wore for my wedding ceremony. She was able to create this even despite my stumbling and mumbling description of what I wanted. She then came back in the afternoon and helped me change looks, with both a different makeup palette and hairstyle to match my wedding gown for the reception. Both looks actually took my now-husband's breath away. All of the pictures so far show a flawless look that is dramatic without looking surreal. All of my bridesmaids (with all different hair and skin) looked beautiful, getting the styles that they wanted as well. Everything lasted until the end of the reception and then some! We actually continued the party until 1:00 am, and my pictures from the end of the night look almost as good as from the start of the day. I cannot recommend AFD enough to anyone wanting hair or makeup services for any event!

I think it would be beneficial if the bride went second to last on the wedding day to allow some breathing room to prepare for photography.
