Had a great lunch at Kent this past weekend. Ambiance is great...our party of 7 had a lovely lunch outside in the garden. Service is just okay, hence the 4 stars. Food came out quickly but water wasn't refilled, empty plates weren't cleared, and we couldn't find anyone to place additional orders as needed. Food is FANTASTIC and I loved almost every single thing we ordered. And we ordered A LOT. - Deep friend eggplant / zucchini was just okay. It was served cold and wasn't too tasty due to the grease. - Grape leaves are delicious. - Stuffed eggplant was amazing. Accompanying rice was too. - Greek salad was very tasty. - Chicken, hummus, lamb received rave reviews but I didn't taste these. - Complimentary bread was just okay...one thought is not to give so much as I felt terrible that most of it was thrown away. The venue here is beautiful. So many good options on the street here as well. Great music inside and a lovely seating setup, huge and varied between greenhouse and brick oven vibes and very comfortable red leather chairs. Extremely interesting beer glass for Ottakringer with a hole for the pinky. Immediately they brought us a giant loaf of bread. Also fascinating glass water bottles that look like plastic bottles, and great cappuccino. We haven't even gotten food yet and five stars. I know Kent is the most popular Turkish restaurant in Vienna but it isn't to me. Over the years I have eaten here three times and I have never really enjoyed it that much. This time was no different. The place looks decent enough - I especially like the very large Gastgarten in the warmer months. But I find tastier food at other smaller Turkish restaurants in Vienna. And I have never liked the service. It is perfunctory - that is you get your food but not much else. This time the waiter amazingly brought the desert with the bread before the soup and main courses (I had ordered the set menu). And then the Yayla Corbasi (joghurt soup) was luke warm and could have used a little more flavor and the Firin Tavuk (chicken and rice) dish was basic and again lacking in a lot of flavor. I thought the bread which I dipped in olive oil was the best part of the meal. In English there are two sayings with the number three (I think I have this right) - 'three times a charm' or 'three strikes and you're out'. Well in my case I think with Kent it is: three strikes and I'm out of there. read more

I've never had a Turkish buffet before, but if I had to have it again I would come to this place. This little gem knows what it's doing. The variety and the layout is fantastic! And for only €10! Their courtyard out back is the perfect place to enjoy your breakfast, but on Sunday's expect it to be busy and filled with lots of loud children. read more

The perfect brunch buffet! I was very excited to see an alternative to these traditional 'brunches' I am used to and my expectations were met! :) The buffet is big and offers a lot of different things, including salad, vegetarian dishes, meat, different kinds of bread and dessert. I had a look at their 'normal' menu as well and I was pleasantly surprised by their prices (the brunch buffet is just 9,90 and other dishes are around 10 euros as well). I was a bit disappointed that the restaurant was very loud though, because it seems to be a very popular meeting place. However, it also makes me kind of happy to see all the families with children eating here :) Also I wish they had more drinks in the buffet. I only saw coffee, one kind of tea (strong, black, of course!) and one type of juice. read more

Great for large groups and families which also means it can be noisy. Tasty Turkish food. You'll want to get a sampler appetizer to try the hummus and other dips. Plenty of Turkish bread comes with it. Don't forget to enjoy the gratis cup of tea in traditional tulip-shaped tea cups at the end of your meal. read more

Gotta love Kent!! Doesn't help that the Brunnenmarkt location is only a 5min walk from my parents' house and thus easily accessible for a quick bite or hangover lunch on a weekend. I feel like they've lost just a tad of authenticity since my teenage days of late night kebaps, but it's still good. Pretty much everything is great here, but we especially loved the Iskender Kebab, which consists of meat, bread, lots of tomato sauce, and then the whole thing topped with yogurt. Yum. We've also had the starter bread with spinach (can't remember exactly what it was called) and the Börek, which were also good. read more

Although I heard good things about this restaurant, please stay away from Iskender or Doner dishes which were pre-cooked and not as good as I expected them to be. The service and prices on menu items were good though. read more

Kent Brunnengasse is part of a bigger Turkish restaurant chain now operating 4 locations in the whole of Vienna. The restaurant has ample room to sit, a very nice non-smoking winter garden area, and hands down the most beautiful courtyard garden in the whole of Vienna. The garden really is spectacular- there are about 150 seats there, scattered among little fountains and mighty chestnut trees. In the sweltering heat of Vienna's intense summers, the Kent's garden is a delightful retreat from the heat. Now to the bad part- the food and the waiters. The waiters are unfriendly even for Viennese turkish standards, and the food is mainly prepared in advance and reheated before being served. Food that should be served searing hot, like kebabs and lamb skewers, arrive at the table luke-warm and dry. The pot dishes, like stuffed eggplants and turkish goulash, also usually come from large chafing dishes, where they have been kept warm for the last couple of hours. Two suggestions- order a couple of drinks, enjoy the garden, eat an appetizer platter, then go somewhere else for the main course. Also, if you decide to order several courses, never order them at once. The Kent's waiters will bring you the main dishes before you have finished the appetizers, and they will definitely not care if you ask them to serve one course after the other. So just finish one course, then order the other- it just makes much more sense in this place. The waiters also like to forget dishes, refuse/forget to bring seasonings, bring the wrong dishes- and they like to cheat on the check, so do your own maths. I've been burned several times, the service definitely is sub-par here. What's definitely enjoyable in the Kent restaurants is that they don't save on bread- they always serve any dish with a big basket of fresh Turkish bread. The oven dishes, like Gözleme (stuffed bread) or dürüm (more stuffed bread) are recommended because they mostly make them on order, instead of just reheating them like the other food. read more

Everything was just perfect. The food was delicious, the service was fast and very polite. There is a smoking room so it's convenient for both smokers and non-smokers. I strongly recommend all kinds of potatoes in KENT. You should also try desserts The prices are really low, and the food has great quality. read more

I came here around 2pm, so there weren't any crowds and I was able to sit outside with everyone else who was there. I wanted to try an actual authentic Turkish place that had a variety of foods, and not just the usual ubiquitous doner kebabs (if I had wanted that, I could have just stayed closer to home; there are plenty of those kebabs around here in my neighbourhood already). First thing I noticed on their menu was that they had "ishkembe chorba", which is very similar to the Mexican tripe soup "menudo" (without the spices or chilis, of course, but with plenty of garlic). It was pretty good; I haven't had this soup for years! Like almost 14 years ago since I was posted in Istanbul as a young Marine Guard at the old US Consulate there. Then I had something called "sach tava", which is sort of like a lamb stew simmered with tomatoes and very mild green chili peppers. They also provided plenty of fresh Turkish bread at the table. The food was really good and the prices were reasonable. The only complaint I had was while sitting outside, these birds and pigeons kept coming to my table, trying to take my bread and even eat some of my stew! They were pretty bold; no matter how much you tried to shoo them away, they would keep coming back. read more

A nice Turkish restaurant on the west side of Vienna, somewhat far from the center, though. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, for my taste a bit dark, but not disturbing at all. The food is great, average price for a Viennese restaurant. It's almost always full. Everytime I popped by I had to wait a few minutes till I got a seat, so better give them a call. read more

A Turkish friend recommended Kent as her favorite in Vienna. We had the breakfast buffet and beef kabap platter and enjoyed both very much. Great spot for Turkish staples. The restaurant is large and light, and extremely child-friendly. The Turkish love children and this restaurant staff were no exception. We will be back. read more
