I can't tell you about the dentist because I haven't actually seen him yet (except for a quick…read moreevaluation). And there's the problem. Almost four months ago I went in with serious pain because my toddler banged my tooth. The dentist said I needed a lot of work quite urgently. But when I learned how much it would cost, and that they don't accept insurance, I had to save up for a couple of months to be able to afford it. And then, because I needed so much work, I had to wait a long time for a two hour time slot. Then when the time finally arrived, they canceled because the dentist got Covid (which I do appreciate the caution, but I wish he could have worked extra hours or something to make up for it--at least for the urgent patients--rather than putting me in the back of the line again waiting for an extra long appointment.) I asked them to please put me on the cancellation list which they did. So yesterday they tell me that they have a two hour slot available (YAY!!!) But I couldn't confirm right away because I had to a) find a babysitter, b) find a ride to their other office 45 min away, and c) reschedule a job interview. They said "I will hold off on offering the time to other patients until I hear from you!" From the time stamps, it took me 19 minutes to line up all of those factors. I confirmed the appointment, and we were all systems go! ...until they called me back 18 minutes later and told me that they had given the slot to someone else who needed to move their appointment from the afternoon to earlier in the day. They said that I could get 3/4 of my teeth fixed, but there was no longer time for all four. (So in mom world this means that I need to find another babysitter, get another ride, and wait even longer to fix my situation which they initially told me was very urgent.) I told her that this was very "frustrating" because I had worked so hard to be able to take that appointment. She replied that the other patient had confirmed with a different receptionist before I got back to her, and they would honor that (then why did she say that she would hold it for me? And did they really compare exactly when, during that 19 minute period, the other patient switched their appointment? Or did it happen during the following 18 minutes before they called?) At this point I literally begged her, explaining everything I had done to get that appointment. And how did she respond? By insulting me! She said that she did not "understand the mentality" of someone thinking they had more right to it than someone else. And actually, when I called back again several minutes later to ask if they could please explain the situation to the other patient and ask if they were willing to be flexible, a different receptionist insulted me again using almost exactly the same words. So let me explain my mentality, since they both find it so crazy and/or difficult to understand. A) I have an *urgent* and serious dental problem. This is not just a check-up. This is a major intervention. I don't know what the other person needed, but I do know that it only required 30 minutes. B) I wanted it *way* more than this other person. I busted my butt to arrange all of the variables that had to come together. I called in a favor. My babysitter rearranged her schedule. I figured out a ride. I freaking moved a job interview! (That one detail I didn't mention on the phone, but it's not like I was telling them my whole life story. They did know about the babysitter and the ride and the fact that I had to save up for *months* to be able to afford this.) The other person simply wanted to move her appointment to earlier in the day because something else came up--meaning that she was prioritizing whatever else over seeing the dentist, whereas I was moving everything else to get to the dentist. C) It would be fairly easy for this other person to find another 30 minute slot, whereas I now have to wait for several weeks--again--for an urgent and serious issue. And D) they actually told me that they were holding it, which is why I went to the effort to jump through all of these hoops. So in sum, a) they made a mistake by double booking the same time, b) in fixing the mistake they prioritized A minor issue for someone making a change due to convenience, rather than someone with a major, serious issue who they knew had jumped through a lot of hoops to be able to go, and then c) they insinuated that I am either crazy or entitled for begging them to reconsider given the circumstances. The more that I think about it, even if the other person did slip in first (while the spot was supposedly being held for me), how does first come first serve make sense as a policy anyway? This is a medical office, not a florist! When you go into the ER they prioritize people based on need. This was a judgment call, and they made a bad one. Needless to say, I really ***really*** wish that Salt Lake had another biological dentist.

Best holistic dental office. I found Dr. Ulm six years ago when I was looking to remove my awful…read moremercury amalgams. (I had at least six). Dr. Ulm is an expert at doing this correctly. The staff has always been professional, helpful, and kind. I live 35-40 minutes away, but the drive so worth it. Before Dr. Ulm had his office in SLC, I was happy to drive even further to his other office in Pleasant Grove. My health has improved, because Dr. Ulm provided cavitation surgery on all four of my wisdom teeth spaces (which contained rotten bone), and he removed three bad root canals. Frozen shoulder, neck pain, and body numbness all on the left side where all three root canals were....vanished. I do have good dental insurance, but it is not so great when a provider isn't a "preferred provider." Nonetheless, I so so so appreciate that Dr. Ulm's office DOES work with your insurance to retrieve what coverage is possible. Every bit helps. Be sure to sign up for the "in house plan", you'll end up saving if anyone/yourself needs services like a cavity fill. Dr. Ulm is not a drill and fill, flouride pushing dentist. That alone is GOLD. But his soft touch, gentle chair-side manner, and expertise makes him indispensable. I really do hope that when the day finally comes for him to retire...he is able to replace himself with three others trained by him.

The dentist' never addressed me personally, and while removing a tooth talked to the nurse about…read morewhat good grades he got at school. I asked to speak with the owner, and was surprised when I was hung up on. I called him back and back and pleaded for them to help me relieve the pain of the affection. From what I underssevere as the one I had need to be addressed, otherwise they can become a hazard for the rest of the body. When I mentioned this to the receptionist she laughed. She laughed and said whatever. And then hung up. Now the work that the dentist did on my mouth over the past three years, has left me with what is called chronic ulcers. The surrounding teeth or chipped by the dentist and these chips caused white painful sores on the bottom of my tongue. Sores it to this day have not healed. Sores that the dentist ignored, until I asked him about them, and he referred me to someone else. Nothing was done to alleviate the pain from the sores, sores that I still have to this day. Chronic is caused by the dentist by his work, and were not treat it. I was under the understanding that if the Dennis knew something was wrong with something in your mouth, they have the obligation to tell you. At Family Legacy Dental this is not true. The dentist is there to visit with the nurses, the dentist is there too except Medicaid, did not except the fact that the price they receive is lower. The dentist does not work with people who are individuals without support systems and have disabilities like myself and turning us onto the street with a dangerous infection which ultimately required me to go to a doctor, who looked at it, said that the gums were infected, and gave me an antibiotic. He then referred me to a dentist in cares, one Dr. Wiest in Provo. To make a long story short, this dentist does not care about the patients the owner of this practice does not care about the patients the receptionist and the nurses, all of the same type age and ethnicity, do you not care about the patients. A dentist who could have written me a script and sent me on my Way, chose to allow me to leave with an infection the size of a golf ball, very close to my eye sinus and was actually growing to the other side of my face, with that too bad so sad, and a message from the owner which said we do not want to treat you again and you are no longer welcome in our practice. They will not release my entire records to me, even though I paid for them, obviously, they are going to give me copies of papers that I still have that don't really explain anything other thanThe work that they did on my mouth. They would not give me the x-rays, and they would not entertain for even a second helping me. He caused me grief, and the dentist or the owner neither one of them had the courage to confront me one on one. They let the staff tell me. The staff laughed when I mentioned how dangerous my infection was, and the Doctor Who finally did treat me and my family doctor told me that a dentist who operates an office like that is there for the money not for the health of the patients melts. He said it's a shame that that dentist is allowed to practice, and that everybody on Medicaid is basically forced to use that dentist because of the limited amount of doctors that would except Medicaid. I admit I did change several appointments two different times I did have the Covid which required me to change two or three appointments, and then my insurance changed in January which left me in the dark as to whether or not he could still be my dentist. In an emergency situation he chose to not help me, even though all he would've had to do was write a prescription for an antibiotic. I believe this dentist is prejudiced against those who use Medicaid, because he does not receive his listing price for what he is doing. The owner, doesn't care about anything but collecting money that isn't covered by insurance. I appreciate the fact that the Dennis time is valuable, I know his school is expensive, and I know the owner has a business to run. However, they are authority figures, working in a practice where people are desperate for help. They abuse the desperation, andWhen I asked them why they didn't give me a warning first they said we are giving you a warning first for sending it to you in the mail today. I'm confused as to why I get the warning after being told I can't come back. The name of the business is Family Legacy Dental there was no family ambience in the practice And legacy is a word they used to disguise their indifference to the patient's health. People have free will, you may go to the dentist and you may have a good experience. as a disabled gentleman I feel I should be given a little bit of slack, especially since I paid for everything including the days that I missed. Once again good luck if you choose this dentist, they don't care about you.
