After reviewing the invoices, it looked like substantial time was spent on emails, calls, file work, and notes, especially surrounding CPS-related communications, and those charges added up very quickly. What was most frustrating was seeing so much time and money go toward that issue, only for the matter to seemingly be shut down after one call from my other lawyers. As a client, that made it very difficult to understand why so much had been billed in the first place. There were also instances of duplicate communication, where I received the same update from multiple people.
