Ken is amazing!!! Seriously makes things so easy. Days and days of showings always full of energy and willing to go the extra mile !

Close friend of mine was recently looking for a new place to move and ended up getting in contact with Ken Degrant. He was going to rent her an apartment that is a couple streets over from my home and she was just waiting for the apartment to be cleaned up a bit and ready for her to move in since the previous tenant had just moved out. Throug this process his lack of communication was just terrible and he was impossible to get in touch with for an actual update on anything. It ends up being a little over one month later that she does get in touch with him and finally gets an update on the status of the apartment. This is when he then tells her that the apartment she had seen, was approved for and that she was expecting to move into was just all of a sudden "no longer available" with no real explanation, but that he had another place for rent that she could have instead. This place isn't "move in ready" yet either but it won't take long at all for them to get it ready. So it is then another couple weeks with no updates or returned calls before she does get in touch with him and he tells her that she can actually come get the key, sign the lease and all of that RIGHT NOW but he is in a hurry because he has an event & if she wanted the key today she had to hurry. She had maybe 20 minutes tops to get over to his office and get all of this done before he would be leaving, so this sense of urgency to get this done had been set. Especially since it had now been going on two months and he was nearly impossible to get in touch with, she thought if she didn't go now who knows when she will ever get another chance... could be another month the way he was operating. Let me just say now, she had called and asked to see this apartment several times and if they could do a walkthrough just so that she knew what the place was like and all that. It was always avoided and put off. She was given the address so she knew where it was and the building but had NOT been inside. So he ended up getting her down there to finish up the process, sign the lease, hand over $1400 and get the key without ever doing the walkthrough and rushed her through it. She hands him $1400, he has her quickly sign the lease and hands her the key and he's out of there off to wherever it was he said he had to be that day. So after work myself and another mutual friend went to this apartment with her to check it out for the very first time. Well... the character limit here is too small for me to cover it all but it was BAD. It was not only disgustingly dirty but it stank, basically looks exactly like a jail cell... no flooring just concrete. Concrete that they painted over while dirty encasing clumps/strands of hair, dirt, roaches and other bugs, making them a permanent part of this all concrete county jail cell aesthetic they seemed to be going for. We seen three live roaches run across the floor right off the bat but they were literally everywhere. There was dirt and a mixture of dead bugs and grime on & in every surface. Bathtub black stuff, dirt, grime and dead bugs scattered all in it. Same goes for the bathroom sink. Same also for kitchen sink, stove, counter top and fridg/freezer. The cabinet space was small and filled with a large sticky trap that was covered in roaches of all sizes and life stages both dead and alive. Dead roaches scattered on the floor. Closet that reeks of a STRONG smell of urine and possible human feces dried up on the shelf that runs across the top. Also found a random drug corner baggie with residue in it lying in the "hallway" just outside of there. Large pieces of wall cut out that several roaches were seen crawling out from into the kitchen right in front of the only space you're meant to store your food & shelf stable items. It is badly, BADLY infested with roaches. There is also water leaking down from the ceiling as well in several areas. I can't even express with words how disgusting this place was (and still is because as of today it sits just the same). This man is supposed to be a realtor... I wouldn't even let my dog go inside. I would NEVER take someones hard earned money in need of a place to live and allow them to walk into something... like this. I was going to say I'd be absolutely beyond embarrassed to even be associated with a place like let in general let alone RENTING it out, but I would never do that. There is no way this man would live in that apartment or in such filth himself. Anyway, he told her she doesn't have to live there but she's not going to get a single cent back either way it goes. She told him like you know it is infested with roaches right? His reply was basically yeah we had it sprayed not too long ago and we have someone spray ever so often. He told her he would have someone fix the water leak but as far as the bugs go, he's done his part basically and she can deal with it herself. This whole situation has just blown my mind. But yeah, does this sound like someone you should support? No. read more
