Excellent office sraff. Appointments are on time. Very little waiting. Dr. Svensson is extremely knowledgeable and cares about his patients. He is happy to sit and talk with you about your health concerns. His goals are long term health improvements and that is what I want from my doctor! If you want a doctor who doesn't actually care about you or the reason that you are there and who doesn't know what codes to submit or how much blood to request the nurses draw, who is unprofessional then Svennson is your doctor. I went to him because I thought I had a UTI. I made sure to be the first patient to see him the day I went in. They told me to show up 15 minutes early to my appointment (I showed up 5). He walked into the office 10 minutes after I did. I was taken into the office and the (very nice) nurse did her part which took about 10 minutes. She left and said the doc would be right in. I could hear him on the other side of the door chatting it up with the nurses or whoever was out there. None of what they were talking about had to do with business as I could hear the entire conversation including laughter. This went on for about 10 minutes. At 9am (my appointment was at 8:30) I was still waiting. I opened the door and asked the nurses how much longer and the fact that I didn't even need to see the "doctor" because I just needed to have a urinalysis and I had already given my sample. They said they didn't know and that the "doctor" would want to see me. So I waited another 15 minutes until he finally opened the door and stuck his head in and said "are you the one with the UTI?" Are you kidding? That's how you greet a patient? He walks in with his button down shirt unbuttoned on the bottom with his stomach hanging out. Then his cell phone text message dings (he didn't check it, but still). He then spends the next 5 minutes asking me the same exact questions the nurse did and says he wants to check my iron and vitamin d and he leaves. The nurse comes in to take blood. I leave the office being told that my test results would be in on Thursday (It was Tuesday). 20 minutes after I left the office the nurse calls me and tells me that they need me to come back in because they need blood drawn to also check for a UTI. I was furious. I was there to be checked for a UTI - why didn't they just do it when I was there? I asked that I thought it could just be checked by urinalysis and she said the "doctor" likes to double check. Well there is obviously a lack of communication in the office. It is now Friday and I have received no call with my test results and had left a message yesterday. I called again today and was told that the office was closed yesterday and is closed until Tuesday! If I do have a UTI I now have to wait 7 days to get test results! This "doctor" doesn't give a crap about his patients, just his bottom line. The more Patients he can see the more money in his pocket. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I sure as hell know that I am. read more

He's a nice enough guy, but seems just like a vehicle for referrals. Sample conversation: Me: Hmm... I have these weird bumps on my arm. Dr: Okay here's a referral to a dermatologist Me: Don't you want to look at them? Maybe it is just an allergy or heat rash or something. Dr: Well I wouldn't know. I can give you a referral to an allergist too. So not very helpful. Also, the wait can be rather long even though the visits are frightfully quick. read more

Went for a physicial and general blood work and since my appointment, I have received no follow up on the results of my bloodwork. I have called over 15 times and told to speak to Merlene, who is lovely, but never available. I was told she was not in the office, was with a patient, on a lunch break, away from the office. I was repeatedly told to call back over and over and over again. I asked to speak to someone else, and still have not been provided with the requested results and was told Merlene was the only person that I could speak with. I am now going to visit the office in person. Hopefully if I stare long enough, I can get my actual results. This is very frustrating as Dr. Svensson is a wonderful physician but the office personnel have much to learn about professionalism and follow up with patients. read more

I would not recommend this doctor. I got my blood work done and can't reach the doctor for 9 days now for him to review my results. Referred me to an out of network doctor and nobody in the office could help me schedule. Horrible staff of office workers. Only nice and helpful person is the nurse. Oh and they told me to pick up my blood work and made me go to another office location in which I arrived and nobody was there so total waste of my time. I am extremely upset and angry about this doctor and place. Do not go here you will regret it. Also I asked him about a rash on my arm and he said he doesn't know. Just kept referring me to different doctors every time I asked about what he thinks is on my skin. Says I don't know but he's a referral. read more

The admin staff is awful. They are rude, ignorant and not at all trustworthy. Unless you want front desk staff controlling you health care and prescriptions, do not go to this office. I am a new patient. My second appointment was supposed to be on February 8. They apparently scheduled me during a week that the office was closed. Instead of just apologizing and making it right, they treated me like garbage. I still don't have my medication. Every single person I spoke to in the office was not rude, but actually MEAN. I cannot stress enough...DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE. read more

Definitely not coming back. The staff made a mistake scheduling me as a follow up (God not on what!), instead of annual check up, resulting in a hefty payment for me. Some staff members were rude. Had to wait over an hour to be seen by a doctor on a scheduled appointment. read more

Kind, attentive & communicative nursing & patient support staff. Dr. Svensson is a thoughtful knowledgeable and patient-centered GP of the old school family-physician variety! Unfortunately I think the corporatization of health care in this country just makes it hard for physicians like DrSvensson to sustain what makes him and others great primary care physicians: personalized care in a small practices. And young drs will never know that culture! The Highland management end of things was the worst part of my experience. Being new inNyack after leaving my home of 17 years and the team of health care providers I had in NJ the last thing you want when you think your calling a cool family practice is to get a cold corporate phone touting system. Highland was labyryrhine : weird appt booking system, impersonal call routing, VM and other mishigosh that is so disconnected from the feel and care culture of the actual practice. I also experienced repeated attempts by one Highland phone manager to deflect my request to speak w dr about a totally legit question after a lyme diagnosis. As if corporate is incentivized to deter patients follow up on phone? Make an appt? Really? I conveyed to Dr who was not happy to hear it seemed. The practice is terrific. I would only suggest improving front desk protocols so reception is more friendly and welcoming. read more

So far I'm not real impressed with this practice. My husband and I went in to establish ourselves as patients. I met Dr. Svensson, who is very nice, however my husband never did got the chance to meet him. Instead he was seen by an intern. When we where there, blood work was done and sent to a lab. They spoke to us a little... asked if we where healthy or if we had any problems... and then sent us on our way. The visit took about 20 minutes. During my husband's visit, he asked for a prescription for migraine headaches that he usually gets and Dr. Svensson's intern said that she would write the subscription when he got the head aches. Well today he needs and it is impossible to get them to fill it and the head aches are getting worse by the second. Is there no one there who can write a prescription and send it in? This is ridiculous. I'm ready to find another doctor if this is what we will have to put up with every time we need something. So here he is, suffering all day because they can't get it together. It doesn't take a doctor to know that there are certain illnesses, like head aches, that are better caught in the beginning so you should have medicine on hand. Not happy. read more

Seems nice and competent but kind of going through the motions. I went for an initial visit for a check up and he didn't even introduce himself coming into the room and is pretty aloof. Wrote a prescription I have had difficulty filling and do not find his office staff too helpful or efficient. read more
