I explained funds were limited since I had recently had a cat with colon resection among many other vet expenses, so I needed to approve what they would be doing. I asked about albuterol (I'm an RN in Pacu and have run a cat rescue on the side for many years) and they said they didn't have any, but didn't bother to explain that Terbutaline is what is most often used in a cat respiratory crisis. The first vet didn't listen to anything I had to say and said that she was the one with the vet degree. I responded calmly that there a great vets and there are bad vets so that comment means nothing. She then abruptly stormed out of the room and went and got the owner vet. I did agree to a chest XR at which point the arrogant male vet said they were not equipped to treat an emergency especially with me having a say in any of it and this was at 5:30( my appt was at 5) that he refused to treat and was quite ugly about it and referred me to the emergency clinic in Hoover. Now if funds are limited to begin with, how can I afford the emergency clinic? But of course Kent Farms didn't care. Plus at this point my cat was freaked out in a strange place which made his breathing even worse. They had my cat in the back and brought him to me telling me to leave. As I quickly walked out, I called my regular vet across town and even though they closed at 6 they said come. I got there at 5:57 and the vet stayed and treated him. The XR was not definitive. Radiologist that read it said either asthma or fungal pneumonia. Now they think heart worm is a possibility. Anyway my regular vet saved his life that with terbutaline, steroids, and antibiotics. He is now on Revolution, prednisolone, and occasionally requires a round of Doxycycline. Fungal blood tests came back negative. The experience at Kent Farms happened over 4 months ago. I was trying to go some place closer to home, but that was a mistake. Kent Farms even called the next day and left a message wanting to know what happened with my cat and asked my address so they could send me a bill. A bill for what, for endangering his life by refusing to treat him. Kent Farms Animal Hospital is awful.

I cannot sing enough praises for this business! They have made such a positive impact on our lives. Summary: My dogs behaviors were not corrected and were in fact made worse. Trainer cancelled…read moreappointments multiple times, sometimes even on the same day. Said he would refund us and did not and is now ghosting us.* I feel like others should be made aware of my experience. I contacted Ben about a small breed dog that I rescued just before the pandemic. This dog has a huge fear of strangers that we have been unable to make progress with on our own. Anytime he sees a stranger or hears a noise he associates with a stranger he has fits of shaking and uncontrollable barking/ growling. I was apprehensive about Ben being able to help us but when he met with us he said he was completely certain he could help our dog and that "he would be like a whole new dog" when he was done. Ben also said that if we were unhappy with our dogs training that we would not pay the second installment of $625. Due to this, I agreed for our dog to stay with him for the two weeks of training. When we arrived on the agreed upon day and time to drop our dog off, Ben wasn't expecting us. He still agreed to take him but said he had to meet another client in 15 minutes so our farewells were rushed. By the end of the two weeks Ben told us he wanted just one more day with our dog several times and cancelled drop off on us once so our dog actually stayed with him 3 weeks. It got to the point I was afraid something had happened to him and he didn't want to tell us. When he did bring our dog back, the barking remained largely unchanged. He even had a complete come apart when the school bus came while Ben was with us. It was at that time that Ben offered to do some additional lessons in our home because he said he thought our dog was close but not quite there yet. He then left our home but came back shortly to request the other half of the payment. I thought this was odd because I had assumed we would discuss that after the additional lessons since the dogs behavior was still so unchanged. I felt a bit pressured so I did pay him the other half but stressed my concerns with him and he assured us with a few additional lessons that the barking behavior would be gone. After having our dog back home it was apparent the barking was completely unchanged and were in fact now even worse. Now he was even barking at us when we came in from another room or got up off the couch. The extra lessons never happened. He cancelled multiple times for various reasons sometimes rescheduling multiple times in the same day only to cancel. Finally I texted and said we wanted to pursue other options and felt we were entitled to a half refund. On his website he says he does not use negative reinforcement but basically the only things he taught us to do to correct the barking was pulling on his collar sharply or stomping at him. That might work for a dog barking for the fun of it but for fear based barking it just made our dog afraid of us. For us it just felt wrong and wasn't getting results. We followed all of his instructions to the letter and our dog was way worse for it. He agreed to the refund and said he would process it as soon as he could. A week goes by and no refund. I text him about it and he replied that he is on vacation and would address the refund when he got back. That was nearly three weeks ago. Now he is ghosting us. I feel like I've been scammed.
