It's easy enough to find driving; the car park runs parallel to the practice. If you've caught the train over, walk down two levels and you'll hit it straight on. As I said, Coonan St General Practice is always very busy, and that may well be because there is only one doctor - Dr Shiro Ram - who is in high demand. Expect there to be a ten minute delay on your appointment, but it's worth the wait. Dr Ram is always very thorough and easy to talk to. She's a fantastic general doctor, but she specialises in Women's Health and has worked at both the Mater Public Hospital and the Healthy Women's Clinic. The nurse, Marie, is lovely. And the receptionists are incredibly helpful and friendly. I had two minor procedures (biopsy and removal of a mole) done in the practice surgery, and Dr. Ram was extremely professional. The procedure was over before I knew it and I even got to see the tissue sample floating around in an airtight canister! It was fascinating and disgusting. As you may have read in my previous reviews, I've frequented many emergency rooms and health clinics in the past. At one emergency room in particular the receptionist asked for my GP's details. I told her my doctor was Shiro Ram, and she laughed and said Shiro was her doctor too. Even health workers trust her opinion! There is bulk billing available for children, pensioners, and those with health care cards. The practice also conducts home visits for patients who are too ill to travel, as long as they live within a 10km radius of the practice. Coonan St General Practice is also always up to date with their reminders (e.g. vaccinations, breast checks, pap smears, etc), so you feel you're in safe hands. NB: The practice often has problems with plumbing, so if you're there for the runs it's best to keep in mind there's a public toilet upstairs one level.

The first contact is with Ann in Administration and one would be completely blown away by how helpful and kind she always is and how fast she is at getting back to you ! The first point of contact is crucial! Dr Shiro Ram has been my GP for several years now and has always provided the absolute best care, and I believe, best advice and treatment during every visit and for every issue. Her demeanor and bed-side manner is calm, positive, thorough, attentive, flexible, and personal. I strongly feel that Dr Ram is the ideal of a family doctor. She genuinely cares, she is professional and she makes an investment in the health and well being of her patients. If you are looking for a doctor whose medical knowledge is current , treats the whole person, and takes the time to be caring even while maintaining a very efficient office, then Dr. Ram is someone you should consider visiting.

Healthy Women can be hard to get to with all the roadworks going on at Indooroopilly shopping…read morecentre at the moment. They don't have parking onsite, however, you can park at the shopping centre and hoof it over to the clinic or park on a side street; provided you're in a physical position to do so. There's also a bus stop at the shopping centre and a train station down the road if you don't mind more of a hike. Ambience **** The waiting room at the clinic has warm tones, stylish furniture and decore. There's a water cooler, a round of soft couches at pram height so bubs can keep an eye on their wayward mums, and stiff chairs for those who prefer sitting up straight. Tissues and sanitizer gel is availabe at the counter. The bathroom can be fun to get to if you're not into reading signs or paying attention to instruction; mens is furthest from the lift, and ladies is closest to the clinic. I'm not a baby person, I don't plan on making one anytime soon, and so I find the majority of magazine-ware and kids' colouring-in on offer grates my eyeballs. I have to admit it keeps the ankle biters and talkative mums busy while I wait for my appointments, though. Most of the consultation rooms (if not all) have an examination bed which can be a bit offputting when your eye catches the conveniently placed lamps. Services on offer **** Family planning from each end of the spectrum and full-on LADIES business. Though I've seen a guy on his own here as well, not sure why, and wasn't going to pry. I can only comment on the contraceptive and general health side of things, so if you're planning family, I'm no help. The doctors are WELL informed on multiple contraceptive methods and explain in easy-to-understand terms what effects each one might come with. Service **** Now that I've learned that a lady Dr I know of personally hates that she's automatically lumped into dealing with women regularly instead of being utilised in a more broad spectrum at a general practice, I go here. More often than not, I end up waiting for my doctor; she seems to be running late no matter what time of day it is, but that's what iPhones were invented for, right? Past that, I couldn't ask for better dealings with the doctors and nurses working here. Thus far I've had basic check-ups, contraceptive consultations, pap smears, you-name-it-I've-had-it test consultations and results, and an IUD procedure (heaven on earth don't get me started on this!). I've always walked away happy with what I've been told (albeit at times somewhat scared); particularly on my last visit I was overwhelmed by the care the staff showed: so far as an offer of iced tea when I took a bit of a turn. As is becoming habit with health care providers, Healthy Women will send you an SMS reminder if you book and leave your mobile number with them - not sure about phoning you to give you a reminder if you leave a landline. Additional notes Being specifically a women's health clinic you might expect to pay a bit more than your family medical centre or GP. If that's the case I haven't noticed; in fact compared to some practices in Brisbane CBD, their consultation prices are very competitive, and they process your Medicare rebate when you pay at the end. That's if it works, make sure you check your receipt as mine was cancelled once and I had to hoof it to Medicare.

My…read moreonly complaint would be that I am to the only one who thinks so as this place can get a little crowded. All the doctors that have I have consulted have been very helpful and efficient; I know I can trust their judgement. The waiting time can be pretty average, usually I have waited about half an hour to be served, I consider this to be the norm. And now onto the only downside I can think of- it can be hard to make an appointment sometimes due to how popular tho place is. It is not often possible to see a doctor the day you call, I usually had to make an appointment for 2 or 3 days after the day I called them. This can be pretty annoying when you are suffering from tonsillitis and need Penicillin as soon as possible. Regardless of the negative points, Kenmore Family Medical Practice is a great GP to go to for your everyday medical concerns.

I dithered a bit as it's a fair drive (and growing up in Kenmore means trips back are fraught with remembered teenage angst) but as I finally need a proper doctor I thought I'd give it a crack. This little Surgery is a real gem. Handy parking out the back, friendly receptionist (decked out in a flashing light necklace due to Christmas) and lots of patients ranging from 8 mths old to 80. I was a little late, so I expected a quick check up and another appointment but Dr Peacock saw me for an hour! A WHOLE FRICKING HOUR! Unbelievable. I think this is probably what our parents used to experience, but I sure never thought I'd find it in my lifetime. And the best bit? Standard $60 out of pocket fee. My husband spends $60 to see the doctor around the corner for 15 minutes so I think I win. Now I just need to remember to leave early enough so I'm not late again!
