Didn't know what to expect with the world's largest log cabin, but it was a visit I would recommend for anyone seeking to enjoy 5-star service level in a extremely beautiful, historic facility that allows you to go "off the grid" and appreciate the analog recreational activities that this hyperfast digital world tries to crowd out of your bandwidth. From the moment entering the main gate diving through the forest, you recognize this massive western red cedar log cabin château will be something different, and nothing like my original preconception that it would be like the Biltmore in Ashville. Entering into the stupendous great hall lobby with stone central fireplaces at its core, no matter how tall and majestic, Le Château Montebello immerses you in a cozy, human scale. My room, with period-design furnishings, log wall, and window facing a green courtyard and glimpse of the Ottawa River, reminded me of my childhood Adirondack and Appalachian vacations decades ago. The bright, updated, modern, sleek bathroom however kept with the times. Should you need it, there was wifi and TV, but my focus was to allow myself to break away from the outside world, taking advantage of time with my family and what this true resort had to offer. Every day started with their amazing breakfast buffet, included with our room, that provided wonderful freshly prepared food, including local specialties. We regularly sat in the windowed section with its river view. During the day I took advantage of what the hotel included with my room - so many different options to spend your time: a spectacular indoor pool hall with hot tubs and sauna, a gym, a bike, an outdoor pool and hot tub, plus (my favorite) the mini golf course. (My real golfer family, who also played a round on their main golf course, laughed about it until they experienced it was tougher than it looked, but all around fun and perfect for kids of all ages!) Note - There are board games in the great hall, everything that will make a memorable experience for a family with kids. You'll notice throughout the hotel people walking around in the Château's white guest robes, given the many amenities to help you relax. Did take advantage of a massage at the spa (an extra charge), which really enabled any stress that I had to melt away. Must add, outstanding staff!!! They did everything to make this trip incredibly special. I wanted to give a surprise photo of my brother and me on his special birthday, which landed on a Saturday, and the only place nearby with an instant photo printing service was in Papineauville, but I didn't have access to the car. Understanding my predicament, the concierge arranged the hotel van take me there to make it happen! (Again, big thank you, guys!!!) The hotel offers wonderful events as well. The two I enjoyed were food related (of course): exhibit of wonderful local food businesses, which allowed delicious tastings and a filming of a finale of a Quebec TV's MasterChef Junior kid cooking competition. Every night, we met up at Bar "Le Foyer" in the great hall. allowing us time to together to appreciate the experience. We also had several dinners at the Château's various restaurants, as well as a lunch there outdoor. (Will separately review dinners at their Aux Chantignoles and The Grill BBQ and lunch at Le Riverain. Check out all my other Montebello food-related and outdoor activity reviews, too!) Come expecting to be transported to a way enjoying the quality of life disconnected to today's attention-grabbing, frenetic world and connected to those more simple, time-tested pleasures that endure and provide a well-deserved reprieve. I stayed here as part of the mid size group that occupied approximately 12% of the property'a guest rooms during the winter As this property is managed by the Fairmont hotel group, service standards are high here however, the service can only carry the experience so far as the property has seen better days. The entryway of the and common property areas and lobby are grand boasting this property as the largest log cabin built in the world With red cedars brought over from BC Your experience during your stay will be highly dependent upon which corridor or wing you are assigned to. I was originally placed in the newer renovated wing on the top floor however it smelled moldy to me (a sign of a water leak and insufficient proper restoration). I went to sleep, and approximately three hours later, I woke with a splitting headache and sinus congestion at 4 am in the morning. I attribute that to the possible mold and asked to be moved to another room which I was put into the Frontenac wing which was not renovated as shown in the pictures. The news recently highlighted that the owners of this property have been over extended and was forced by the courts to liquidate assets as this property was listed for sale. This property shows in its lack of proper upkeep and maintenance Respecting this property is an anchor for this area'a tourism industry, it is a shame sufficient Investments were not made to keep this property in good repair and standing There are numerous Fairmont properties that excel in providing the ultimate Canadiana experience however, I cannot recommend this property until a new buyer put sufficient resources to the proper maintenance of this historic castle. The Fairmont château Frontenac in Quebec city, stands out in comparison to this property. other Fairmont properties such as The Empress Hotel, in Victoria, the Banff Springs Hotel, the Jasper Park Lodge, the Fairmont, Château Lake Louise, and even city based properties in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver hotel offer a superior Canadiana resort experience

If you are looking for a…read morerelaxing, quiet and secluded break, with all the conveniences of home, you will love these cottages. The cottages are beautifully built, and are right on the river. They are placed on the property such that from one cottage, you can barely see another, giving them a private feel. The proprietors are very friendly and have thought of everything; they even remembered my daughter's birthday and decorated the cottage before we arrived. All you need to bring is food, and there is a large Metro grocery store within 15 minutes (walk) of the cottage. The cottage sleeps 10, is equipped with laundry, has an outdoor fire pit, hot tub, great sledding hill, BBQ, flat screen TV, DVD player, satellite TV, etc. Highly recommended.

The hospitality was incredibly warm, from the receptionist to grounds crew, everyone approached you with a smile. We loved the location and the dog friendly atmosphere. Accommodations were incredibly clean, to the point where we felt we were the first to stay here. Close proximity to Mount Tremblant allowed us a nice evening out. Contenential Breakfast with fresh bread, homemade jam, marmalade and locally sourced maple syrup made for a delicious snack. Although it was too cold to partake in the hot tub, and fire pit, we loved that we had the option. Thank you so much for a relaxing getaway, we will be back and I can't wait! See you soon!

With an update I'm sure the rates would go up, so I'm perfectly content with a lower rate and older curtains! The beds are comfy and it's clean (worth mentioning twice) so it made the perfect place for a pit stop. They also offer a continental breakfast as well. They are in the heart of little Montebello so they are walking distance to restaurants and the local grocer if you require any extras. I would happily stay here again.

The place was super comfy and clean. The price was even nicer!!! Two nights was less than 220$! I'd do it all over again. And I did, the second time I got only a queen room because it was for one night. Again, the place was super clean and comfy. It was one room with a bathroom. There was a small table to dine in the side with a fridge and coffee maker. What is great about this place is that there is a grocery store right across the street. She also mentioned we could use the amenities at Le Château, however, I never tried. I am sure they could give you more details if you ask. Overall, I will be returning often!

My 16 year old son and I did an afternoon snowmobile tour with Yuma and it was outstanding. The day…read morebefore the area got about a foot of fresh powder, so conditions were excellent. Yuma has brand new SkiDoo 600's, a great lodge with a huge fireplace, restaurant and bar area. Yuma provides all the gear, and transportation to and from their facility. Our guide, Stephan, made us feel welcome and quickly got us ready for the trails. Soon we were out in the hills speeding through fresh deep snow, riding on logging roads and off trail here and there too. We went onto a lake for a while where we were able to really open it up! The trip took us up big hills, through narrow trails in deep woods, the lake, and logging roads so the variety was great and the scenery was excellent. The whole experience was well worth the cost and I will definitely go back to them next ski vacation.

The main building might suggest a quaint Quebecoise inn but the sleeping quarters are actually in a cinderblock building in the back - the kind of place frequented by bowling and curling tournamenters. The owners are trying hard in a little tourist village that probably goes from dead to overflowing throughout the year. The Chateau up the road is the real attraction so the auberge must be challenged to maintain guests throughout the winter. It looks like they have a boat dock so the place is probably much more lively during the summer months.
