Before leaving Kona and the Big Island, I felt drawn to deepen the sense of peace I'd found here…read morewhile working on my novel. By chance, I came across Heather's studio online in a map of the Kealakekua Bay area and decided to pair my massage with an outing to Manini Beach. There, I took a moment to honor this sacred place of healing as the Hawaiian people do--by giving thanks for life's abundance and meditating on its blessings. With this backdrop, centered and prepared by the meditation, I made the short drive to Heather's studio. The massage was exactly what I needed to close my stay, as I surrendered to Heather's skilled touch. Her deep, soothing strokes and gentle body adjustments revealed her true mastery, while our conversation, when it arose, was as grounding and sensitive as the massage itself. By the end of the hour, I felt wholly present in both spirit and body--an experience of the Tao within the Massage that has lingered, even now nearly a week later, as I prepare to leave Hawaii for the mainland. Mahalo nui, Heather!

We were in Kona to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. I wanted to do something very special to…read moresurprise my wife, and was happy to find this gem. Scheduling was easy, with a simple phone call. A couple of days before the appointment, Cindy called to apologize for a scheduling issue and asked if we could arrive earlier. That actually worked out better for us, as we had a luau that evening! The kind folks at Mamalahoa accommodated us by opening an hour early. Mahalo! This is the kind of special place that you see on those reality tv dating shows, that provides the perfect romantic atmosphere. From the second you step on the grounds, you see how everything is beautifully maintained, with plenty of foliage and bamboo walls for privacy between the hot tubs, walking paths, and buildings. Ron, our host, gave us a tour to show us the hot tub and orient us to the outdoor shower. He provided lots of information about the trees and flora that are flourishing on the property. He was extremely knowledgeable and felt like a botanical garden tour! He also gave us robes and towels for the duration of our stay, nice touch. The massage room was fantastic. It was complete with calming music, comfortable beds, awesome aromatherapy scents, and nice open air feel. Lauren and Janaki were our masseuses. We chatted with them at the onset to talk about sore points for them to focus on, and preffered amount of pressure. They both did a phenomenal job of soothing our tired muscles, and working out the knots. I have to say, this was the best massage I have ever had! After the massage, we made our way to the hot tub to finish off our romantic day date. Normally the hot tub part is first to losen up the muscles prior to the massage, however, we did it the other way around. It felt more romantic! Thank you, to Mamalahoa Hot Tubs and Massage for the amazing experience of Aloha! Highly recommend, and worth every single penny to rejuvenate the soul and rekindle romance!

Pua asked me the standard questions regarding medical historical, any areas of concern on my body or other issues about which she should know. The massage itself was fantastic - firm enough to really feel it but not painful in any way. Pua was easily able to detect my tight and less flexible areas and address them.
