Now whilst I can't review the quality of their work what I can tell you about the Goodby's is that it is actually and father and son business, with each of them having specialties. A few months ago I had been tasked by my Mum to get a present for someone engraved. Acs the name clearly says "Engraver" I figured this would be the place to visit. With a knock at the door and the fright when it suddenly opened I met the Goodby Junior. After a quick chat about what I had been tasked to do they sadly couldn't do the work for me due to the material and the machines required. I wasn't sent away empty handed though as they knew just the person with the machine to do it for me and pointed me to the right place. As the Jewellery Quarter is full of little businesses and craftsmen with amazing skills you just don't always know where to look or start in trying to find what you need. I rang up on a Friday to ask if I could get some items engraved, and I was quite shocked at the way I was spoken too by a employee at Goodby Engravers. Although it was not Ken Goodby himself, the refusal of assistance and blunt conversation was enough to warrant me taking my work elsewhere. If that is how potential customers are treated then I dread to think what It would be like communicating face to face. read more
