On March 12, Howard emailed us out of the blue telling us that he could not handle our tax return and to go to a larger CPA practice. This year we turned in our tax information the end of January, beginning of February. We did not hear a word about any issues or need to supply additional information or documents . I sent a message on April 1st if Rich had an idea of when the taxes would be completed. I was told "I will get them done as soon as I can". April 13th I sent another message asking if we had an extension as I believed we were in the category we had to file by April 15th. Response "you don't have to file until May 15th" Out of the blue, our tax forms arrive for signatures on April 15th via email with a letter saying the information I provided made it difficult for him to figure out our taxes stating "duplicate and triplicate items" were send to him and in addition he knew I wasn't happy with the outcome last year ( we had to pay over $10,000) so find another accountant for both us and our business. Since this occurred we found out another friend who owns a business had the exact same thing happen to them with this business. I'm a Registered Nurse, not a tax accountant by any means, and we did have a complicated tax year last year. If it had been easy I would have used Turbo Tax. I called two other tax firms and told them this scenario and they told us they would sit down in person and go over issue that would arise before terminating the relationship.
