I actually came across this nursery because it sells riding gear such as hats, headcollars, bits,…read moreriding gloves and saddles - but first and foremost it is, of course, a nursery. It offers a good balance of practical and ornamental gardening products, and the staff are on hand to offer planting advice if you need it - with less 'tat' than you find at some other big garden centres. Apart from selling plants, trees, shrubs and flowers, Oakley Green is also well-known for its huge range of pots, containers and garden ornaments - there are literally thousands lined up, in every shape and colour, and I love rooting around to find something a bit different for our patio. You can also pick up the usual gardening essentials such as compost, tools, fencing materials and sheds - plus even some children's play equipment, log cabins and conservatories. If you live around Westerleigh there's no need to venture further afield for plants or garden gear, as they sell everything you need. Oh, and they claim the on-site Acorn Café does a good Sunday roast - but I can't vouch for that as I haven't tried it myself.

They…read morehave a really good selection of trees as well, and are a lot more visible from the main road (you can't miss the massive blow up Santa at the side of the road). The people are very friendly, and will search out the perfect tree for you. They've also got a good range of cheap stands (less than £20), which is where we got ours from (after searching out the WHOLE of Bristol). There's a really good chance of finding the perfect tree in this area.

Out by UWE on the way to the M32, Frenchay Forestry is THE place to get your christmas tree…read more Staffed by young air cadets, they have hundreds of trees brought in freshly from forests around the area. It's worth the drive out here as you're bound to get a tree a lot cheaper than you would at any of the places in the centre of town. They have different types too, from Nordmand Firs (apparently the fancy one) to traditional trees that drop their needles. The staff will be happy to un-net any tree you want to look at, and will stand holding it while you assess its suitability. Line it up next to their height chart to get a price, take the ticket the friendly gent gives you and all you have to is pay for it in their makeshift hut whilst a cadet nets it up for you. I can't recommend this place enough - if you haven't got a tree already, make the trip, otherwise keep it firmly in mind for next year's festivities.

As with most small stores they can be quite expensive but they do also stock some value ranges which are probably quite popular. This store is really nice looking and a pleasure to shop in. Its really clean and well organised and its really easy to see whats available. the staff in the store are really well informd and do all they can to help make sure you are happy with your purchases highly reomended
