Food was cooked well. Waitress was attentive and courteous. Restaurant was very clean.

Our server was excellent but the food was mediocre. My steak with shrimp was cold as was the side of broccoli and hubby's fajitas were plentiful but the chicken was dry. The beer was good but to me most beers are. We sat in a booth in the bar area and it was very pleasant. I probably would not go there again. The atmosphere was nothing special. Wow! So thrilled with the service I received at this location. We were there about 2 weeks ago and I have been reflecting on what a wonderful experience we had. Noah was our server and he was exceptional. He was friendly, prompt, and delightful all around. Our food was hot and fresh and Noah ensured our dietary restrictions were met without hesitation. Avoid this restaurant unless you like waiting to get a server or your food. The employees seem to disappear and when you try to ask someone else that isn't serving you, they ignore you. Food is okay but they couldn't even get the right food on the plate. We would give this place a no star but have to give it one as that seems to be the minimum. Had dinner last night - the meal was delicious. We had the original potato skins, the broccoli cheese soup, the lemon-pepper salmon, quesadilla, and a burger. Everything was on par, and our server Kodie was great - efficient and pleasant to interact with. Would recommend Kelsey's for sure. read more

While visiting Thunder Bay, we met some friends at Kelsey's for dinner - what a mistake, the only saving grace of the place was our friendly, funny, surfer dude server - he was excellent, however, due to the rest of our experience the restaurant STILL gets one star... here's why. We arrived and our friends had gotten us a table early, so we sat down and immediately ordered an appie (spinach dip) and some drinks. The spinach dip came out before our drinks, and when our drinks finally arrived, an ordered Rickards White, came out red. Our server apologized and went to fix the issues but after another number of minutes realized that they were out of white, so the bartender poured red... No biggie, we ordered a caesar, by the time the caesar arrived, we were finished our appetizer. Still not too put off (it was pretty busy), we ordered our entrees, two burgers and steak fajitas for two. Our food took FOREVER. Luckily we weren't in a hurry so the time didn't really matter, just it was beyond too long for two burgers and RARE steak fajitas to take. The server was apologetic and offered to take care of our appetizer, nice. When our food was delivered, the burgers, and the tortilla plate and topping plate came out, but we had to wait another 5 minutes for the RARE steak. When it finally arrived (sizzling and looking good), we opened our little tortilla holder (steamer I believe) and found FROZEN SOLID tortillas! I'm serious, they were so frozen that they couldn't even be separated! we had to watch our steak get cold and our friends eat their burgers while we waited for new tortillas. They FINALLY came, and we realized we didn't have any cutlery or plates! They'd apparently run out of cutlery so there goes another 5 minutes to our poor server running around trying to find us cutlery, and to our food's warmth completely checking out. Also, they didn't send out the extra guacamole, which we ordered and paid for! We ate our cold food, because we were starving. I think it would have been great if everything else hadn't gone wrong. The manager came over to our table and let us know that we'd be getting free desert. I'm going to rant now. NOBODY WANTS FREE DESERT! After a disastrous evening the last thing anyone wants is to stay for some crappy desert! If people are upset about the food DISCOUNT THE FOOD THAT THEY WERE UPSET ABOUT don't give them some junk that's cheap for you to doll out but does not fix the problem. But like I said, our server was this place's only saving grace, and we didn't want to ruin his night anymore (he was clearly ready to quit), so we thanked the manager and got our cheapo crap desert. By the time it arrived we had no desire to eat any more food, or the stay in that dump any longer, so we packed it for our friends, and left. Oh, and that appie they said they'd take care of, they didn't. I didn't realize until we got home, but seriously. Don't waste your time on this place, please. read more

A couple of friends and I went for lunch the other day. The hostess set us at a table, then we waited at least 20 minutes before the server came by the table. There was maybe two or three tables in the section. Server was not friendly. I felt like we were inconveniencing her. I feel that if you are in the hospitality industry you should make an effort. Once our food was ordered it took at least another 20 minutes. We ordered quesadillas and flatbread. Asked for guacamole, but it was forgotten. Asked again... And a third time. We were asked how we would like the bill, and we said separately. The items were mixed up. The server said, "She entered it in wrong." Who entered it? Don't you enter it? Anyhow, she didn't offer to fix it. Going to a restaurant is not all about the food - it's the experience. Food was fine, experience was not. Will not be back. read more

Came here with a friend for a late lunch today. I had the fish and chips and a Hot Chocolate Monkey (hot chocolate with Kahlua & banana liqueur.) The fish was great, hot, crispy on the outside and moist inside, the drink was great (mmm chocolate banana) and the side of peas was nicely cooked and seasoned. Unfortunately, while the fries had a great seasoning on them, they were luke warm and kind of hard - definitely mediocre, though not so terrible that I felt like bothering to send them back to the kitchen. I should have asked for kettle chips instead of fries, because my friend had those and they were great. Service was fine, nothing to complain about, nothing to write home about. All in all, it was a pretty average chain-restaurant experience. read more

Kelsey's is a very nice fern bar/restaurant. It's clean, the food is always edible if not spectacular, and the service is hit or miss. Not a 'singular' dining experience but if you just want some lunch you could do a whole lot worse. read more

Went there last week for lunch. Ordered the Asian Bowl. It took a while. When it came, it was completely flavourless. The garlic bread that came with it was cold. I did mention this to the waitress and she brought some sauce to add flavour. She tried her best, and I have to give her credit for that. For the bill, it was $20, which I felt was pretty ridiculous. About a year ago, I went. Had an asian salad. It was basically all lettuce. I used to love going to Kelseys, but obviously there have been changes to the menu that have killed off its appeal to me. read more

My favorite after work place to meet up with friends for bevvies! The staff are very people oriented where they even remember your name! Must make mention of the great menu items for all types of cravings. And a BIG Shout-out to Jackie, the lunch-time server who always has a great table-side manner, that just makes the dining experience at Kelsey's a pleasure indeed!! Don't order any of the pasta from this place. I ordered a plate of pasta which was insanely overpriced. I think it came to almost $16. They gave me the smallest plate of pasta I have ever seen. I finished it in within 1 minute and asked the waitress for more which she said no. I was in disbelief. I am a small guy and that portion sizing was no where near close to satisfying me. Also, every other restaurant I have ever been to has always offered unlimited pasta servings. I just can't believe they charge so much for so little. read more

We went to Kelsey's hoping to have a meal for everyone at around 4pm. We had 3 kids with us, and though the restaurant was nearly empty we were placed in the very loud bar at a booth. Our server was slow and seemed disinterested in serving us, and we nearly left but our kids had already decided what to eat so we stayed. Mistake! The portions of food were really small. The chicken fingers were gristly! The burger was lazily stacked and very saucy, which was very hard to eat and fell apart. The chicken breast was tough and we were all disappointed. As a family eating out is a really big treat, not an everyday thing and we felt like we really wasted our money on this outing, especially because the server seemed more interested in gossiping with other employees than helping us at our table. We also all had to listen while one employee gave another (new? seemed like she was training him) crap for thinking he would share her tips.
