I made an appointment about five days prior to the date that Kelly was available. As I came in, I overheard them mentioning that my name was not written down for the appointment time or date. (First red flag) Before Kelly did my hair, she asked me what color I wanted. I showed her the picture I really liked that she did before on Yelp. Which was icy blonde balayage. While she began, she had another hair stylist come and help on my hair while she went and helped another customer. (Second red flag) Throughout getting my hair foiled, the other artist wasn't doing it correctly and heard Kelly telling her that in Vietnamese. Which both of them did not know I can understand it. I asked for a balayage and literally my whole head is blonde. The gray she slapped on only lasted three washes which was ridiculous and she charged me $400 for my hair. Her service has gone downhill, including her talent. I will never ever return - waste of money. read more

I am very particular about how I like my hair done and have tried many different hair stylists, but now that I started going to Kelly I will never trust my hair with anyone else. Although I don't visit as often as I should -- I know she will take care of me when I finally get around to scheduling an appointment. Here are some reasons in which I would recommend Kelly: * she doesn't overbook and end up having someone else work on your hair. * she'll be honest with you about what your hair can or cannot handle. Meaning, she won't sell you the most latest trend just to make a few extra bucks on you. She'll tell you as it is so that your hair can remain strong for future visits. * she's sweet and fun to converse with. * her prices have remained consistent over the years. I've been to Kelly multiple times for the past few years now. I am updating my review to 5 stars as she never seems to disappoint. I colored my hair about a year and a half ago to an ash grey-blonde right before I gave birth and it lasted me awhile as it grew out nicely with my black roots. Just a few months ago I had a friend try to bring the blonde back up and although I love my friend, the work wasn't what I expected and my color was kind of everywhere. Of course I called Kelly ASAP to see if she could fix it and she was able to squeeze me in 2 days from when I called. Attached are the photos, she just salvaged my hair. It may not be the best way to do it (she can bring you black to blonde in like 1 session but really it's super damaging to your hair) but I don't mind as I'm lazy to go in for multiple sessions and I started an Olaplex regimen recently to help combat some of the damage. I first went to Kelly's as a teenager with all of my friends and it was worth it! She was cheap, didn't need an appointment and accommodated all four of us in one day. Fast forward several years after referring her massive amount of customers, she didn't recognize me. Which is ok, she sees multiple clients everyday. Kelly herself did my roots, my hair started falling off and my scalp was itchy for weeks. I assumed it was the shampoo that I was using. Her and another employee worked on my hair and charged me $550. This was after I told her to take it slow and she told me that she can just cut and do highlights on my dark natural hair. I also purchased a shampoo/conditioner and she told me the haircut is included but the duo shampoo conditioner would be $50. So all in all for a disgusting job my hair cost me $500. The highlights were blotchy, no definition and the best part is that my scalp was extremely irritated. I went back two times for a root touch up hoping she could clean this mess up. But instead Kelly was desperately trying to sell whatever she could to me and also asked me who did my hair and was touching it disgustingly. She didn't even remember me from one month ago, didn't recognize her work nor did not remember I paid $100 tip on a $550 charge. Both times I went in for a root touch up and pedicure she charged me different fees only a difference of $12 but $12 for the same pedicure? I witnessed a customer go off on her on my first visit regarding wrongful charging but I try giving everyone a benefit of the doubt. If you are looking for flea market service where walk ins and bargaining is your cup of tea-this is the place! I went elsewhere in a classy neighborhood where I was charged half to re-do the entire service. My new hairdresser was mortified when she worked in my hair. read more

My mom was going here for 15 years, however We decided to go to a new stylist where she and everyone else in the salon were shocked to see what Kelly had done to my mom's hair all these years.. as you can see in the pic this is called breakage and basically Kelly MELTED off my moms hair. This happened due to her overbooking clients and forgetting about them. She is leaving the bleach on and overprocessing the hair for so long that it starts BREAKING the hair suggest if you have been getting your hair done here for a long time to go to another place to get your hair checked out by a professional. Last September i went to Limon Salon to go from Dark Brown to blond balayage. They did a horrible job and i instantly regretted going elsewhere. I've had most of the stylists do my hair but hands down Cindy is the most attentive and skilled stylist. She knows her stuff and is awesome at getting you were you want to go. I was a loyal customer for at least six years. The owner, Kelly, is good at what she does. The problem is that not everyone there knows what they are doing. I know that running a business is no easy task...but there are several things wrong with this place. * It takes at least 4 hours to get color/ highlights/ hair cut!!! Every other salon takes half the time!!! why? Because at Kelly's the workers are forced to work on several people at the same time. My hair used to be over processed because the workers would forget about me (while I had chemicals soaking in my hair)...as they helped other customers. It's the owner's fault for being too greedy and trying to take on as many customers at the same time! As a result, they lost my $140 a month I used to give them. *Another issue is that they do NOT honor they appointments. I would always call and schedule appointments...show up on time....and end up waiting for at least 15 minutes! Bottom Line: This is not a horrible salon...believe me I have been to some awful places...but it is also not a high end salon. You get what you pay for (prices here are really cheap). If you are looking for a cheap place that won't ruin your hair...this is the place. But...if you are looking for a professional salon that will dedicated 100% of their time and effort on YOUR HAIR...go somewhere else! read more

This is by far my favorite salon! I've been a loyal customer since the end of 2005 or the beginning of 2006. They're friendly, nice, & talented! Kelly is my go to stylist, & Kim is my all time FAV waxer ; p Kelly does an amazing job on my highlights! I get compliments everywhere I go! Her prices is not the cheapest but it's reasonable for the quality she provides. I always tell ppl that it's pricier than other azn salons, but cheaper than American salons. Been having my platinum highlights for 5 yrs but my hair isn't dried like some others bleached hair. I see Kim on average once a month. For my monthly waxing ritual hahaha! She's careful n takes her time to get ur area CLEANED! Kim is my all time favorite waxer!! Their only downfall is they tend to overlap on appt times. But at times they're on time waiting =] it's an azn place so there r goin to b a lot of walk ins but sometimes waiting 15 or so mins won't hurt. I have been eyeing Kelly's Salon Reviews for quite some time now but didn't really have the guts to make an actual appointment to see her, due to having fear of someone screwing up my hair again and again. But finally, I had the courage to call Kelly last Sunday and made the appointment for Monday (4/29/13), and told her that in the past, I've seen MULTIPLE Hairstylist in the bay area who couldn't give me the RIGHT HIGHLIGHTS, on top of that, they damaged my hair by giving me different colors such as; red, orange, brassy blonde and lots of breakage! Yes I've had so many hairstylist IN THE BAY AREA screw up my hair where I lost a CHUNK of hair due to their mistakes! Anyways, Kelly scheduled me the next day (Monday) and told her I'd rather come in at 8:30 am and she showed up on time at her Salon! I told Kelly I simply wanted Platinum Highlights over Medium Ash Brown Base on my hair! I came out of her salon looking so beautiful! Got out at 1:30 pm -- yea took that long for Kelly to do my hair because I haven't had work done on my hair for over 8 months coz last time, "Mary" this stylist from Sunnyvale caused so much breakage on my hair and I also had too many reds and oranges on my hair!!!!) You see, I've lived many years in Newport Beach, and down in OC, I know a couple of girls who are amazing and can do the correct highlights I want. Well, little did I know upon moving to the bay area, before I find A VERY GOOD hairstylist, I would have someone f*ck up my hair over and over again (lost a lot of hair due to breakage when Highlights were done incorrectly!) It's traumatized me to a point where I didn't even want to do anything to my hair anymore.... Well I have to say, Kelly did an amazing job on my hair!!!!! Omg. Can I say I adore Kelly? Yes I do!!!! If I had to describe Kelly's work as a Professional Hairstylist? I would describe her in ONE WORD: PERFECTIONIST!!!! Why? She will truly listen to you and do exactly WHAT YOU WANT, and she will do whatever it takes to make you beautiful and more importantly, she is HONEST about what she can do or what she can't do to your hair! I TRULY adore this woman. Kelly charged me $150 (highlights/base)+$15 for haircut. Which was a reasonable fee. I gave Kelly $180 total (told her no change coz the rest was her tip) I felt bad. With the work she did on my hair? I would have easily tipped her $25 but I didn't have enough cash on me. Why? SHE IS THAT FRIGGIN' GOOD! She constantly checked my hair making sure that my hair turned "Platinum" and she did a wonderful job!!! The color of my hair came out even everywhere!! Absolutely NO reds, no orange, no brassy ugly colors and most of all, NO BREAKAGE!!!! Just nice pure platinum blonde!!!! :))))) HEY YOU ALL HAIRSTYLIST in the BAY AREA! THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE! You walk in feeling ugly and you walk out feeling and looking beautifully! haha... Not coming in feeling ugly ONLY for another stupid hairstylist to make you feel even MORE UGLIER. Most hairstylist are out there to make money and most are probably not even licensed to practice cosmetology (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!)....but NOT KELLY! She is VERY GOOD at what she does!!!!! So think about this... If you guys think she is expensive, try a different hairstylist. lol 1) They mess up your hair so then YOU would want to go somewhere else because obviously it only takes *ONE TIME* to f*ck up someones hair, and I doubt they'll be able to fix it again and 2) You will end up paying more because you have to pay TWO DIFF. HAIRSTYLIST, Plus your hair is over processed and damaged. So paying a slight higher price to see Kelly is actually worth it, than going to a different stylist only for that person to screw it up.
