We were seated quickly -- it was a nice day, so we sat in their lovely outdoor dining area. They brought us room temperature waters (not a fan), and took our drink orders rather quickly. Service was good throughout our visit. I ordered the IPA Bacon Cheeseburger, which came (over)loaded with lots of fresh vegetables, a large burger patty, and the IPA mustard sauce. I don't want to complain about a burger being piled high with bacon, pickles, and fresh onions, lettuce, & tomatoes; but it was difficult to eat. While the Challah bun was delicious, it was woefully undersized for the task of holding it all together. I enjoyed it, but felt the IPA sauce was lost in the midst of everything else, and I also thought the burger patty was under-seasoned. I ordered fries as a side, and unfortunately they were the "battered" variety, which I just don't enjoy. Restaurants -- please, just serve normal French fries, without any batter on them! We knew from past experience that baked goods and desserts are really what La Provence is good at, so we ordered Tiramisu for dessert. Their very non-traditional take on this Italian classic would probably some people uneasy, but it was delicious. It had a dense chocolate cake base, with a thick layer of mascarpone mousse on top of that, then a topping of thin, crunchy, chocolate hazelnut ganache. Not too sweet, with a variety of textures to enjoy. We would definitely come back again, but I'd get something other than burger and fries.

TVs in the bar typically are tuned to sporting events, but the TVs are muted, providing an option to casually catch the game while pretending to pay attention to your date or family. To the right are configurable booths and some tables, separated by a screen comprised of clear glass bottles attached to vertical wires. This design feature (pictured) serves the dual purpose of softly separating the dining spaces and also acting as an earthquake alarm. Head for the exit if you hear those bottles clanking together, perhaps taking time to pause at the bar to grab a margarita on your way out if the trembler is 4.0 or less on the Richter scale. The bar is full service, featuring a variety of margaritas and other craft cocktails. The margaritas are delicious, albeit modest in size. If you're looking for a fishbowl full of rotgut, this may not be the place for you. A bonus for connoisseurs of Mexican beer: Negra Modelo on tap! Jefe's menu is aptly described as Mexican comfort food. You will find well-executed standard fare, such as enchiladas, bowls, burritos, and tacos. Specialty items include a couple of my favorites: Pollo Saute (breaded chicken breast on poblano rice, with jalapenos, braised greens, and pickled onions) and Aji Amarillo Shrimp Enchiladas (shrimp, corn, cheese, and onions with a unique mole sauce). Lots of great product displays like a cheese and charcuterie arrangement, wine and bubbles, baked treats, and seasonal decor are just some examples. The have really nice greeting cards for just $1.99 each. When it comes to "bargain" prices, meaning less expensive than a big box grocery store, it's hit or miss. Some items are clearly a bargain - huge bag of cotton balls for 99 cents (for make-up removal); a cheese ball covered in sliced almonds for $1.99; a 32 oz container of Galbani ricotta cheese for $4.99 were all good deals - while the majority of items were of equal price and some even more expensive. Lots of local cider, beer, and wine plus national brands. Know your prices because while there are often really good deals, there are also times when they list the regular price and it's several dollars higher than reality. Out front was a beautiful fall display of pumpkins and bins of gourds for great prices. Inside, there was Christmas decor, ornaments and nutcrackers already for sale.
