My first visit in over two years & they have really done a great job giving the aquarium a makeover. Currently you can buy an Annual Pass online for $70 (usually $75) which gives you unlimited access for an entire year. There are some great interactive educational exhibits for the older kids, the only thing missing for a 5 star rating is a proper cafe. The automatic coffee machine (one touch button) does not cut it!! If you haven't visited since the revamp you should definitely pay them a visit.

I went here at the end of last year with some overseas relatives, and enjoyed it far more than I did a few years back. The penguins were adorable and the variety of fish totally jaw dropping. Going around and around on the moving conveyor belt was great fun. However, having been to other underwater worlds, Kelly Tarltons really needs to expand so much more. The price is fair considering it's a private establishment, but you can't help but feel there should've been more to your ticket. Nevertheless, a good place to go in all forms of weather to learn more about the sea and enjoy its creatures.

Some places just seem so much more exciting, impressive and simply bigger when you are a kid, and Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World is definitely one of these places. Is it just me, or did there used to be a much larger variety of fish? Certainly my last visit there was not the same experience as I so fondly remember as a child, but for sure this place is for kids and the kids that I saw were having a great time. Nothing much has changed there over the years in terms of layout, and it does look to be somewhat rundown and tired. Some renovations are what this place desperately needs. The penguin enclosure is sadly rather small and could do with better upkeep. Kelly Tarlton's is pricey and I wouldn't go there again or take any friends from out of town, unless I knew children who wanted to go.

What an amazing experience! Plenty to see during my trip!…read more They have the zoo broken up into different sections with animals of different regions. I was mostly interested in seeing the animals of Australia and New Zealand. There was a pretty good displayed variety in each section . I spent the whole day at the zoo, and don't regret it one bit ! The only thing I regret was not being able to really see the kiwi. They are nocturnal and the enclosure that they are in is extremely dark and hard to see. I did see one for a short amount of time belong into a bush. I definitely recommend this for families or anybody visiting from outside of the region

I spent over three hours here and saw animals I've never seen before. It's huge zoo, and there are five sections divided in geographic locations. There is a schedule of presentations throughout the day and we ended up at a porcupine presentation that was quite entertaining and educational. The zoo is scenic, clean and well kept. There are cafes, toilets and rest stops thoughtfully located and convenient for visitors. The animals are well cared for and I saw abundant staff and volunteers throughout the visit. We ate lunch at Te Puna cafe that overlooked the South East Asia section and surprisingly was quite affordable with hot and cold grab and go selections. Highly recommend to visit.

Entry fees are very affordable for individuals and families, and we have a season pass. It is very reasonably priced! The zoo has undergone major renovations over the last five years, expanding well beyond where it was only five years ago (the time of our first visit). It includes an enormous, well-equipped children's playground, an upscale café and dining restaurant. In the near future, there will be a hotel on the premises where guests are welcome to stay and observe the animals after- and before-hours. To get to the zoo, visitors may drive to the facility or choose to take the city bus. The city bus is very convenient, since it leaves from the Hamilton CBD and arrives directly outside the front entrance to the zoo. A highlight for the kids include the tigers, ostriches, American buffalo, and, of course, giraffes. Also, they certainly like to use the slides located near the chimpanzee enclosure.

My boyfriend and I definitely had a lovely time here and I could be found squealing like a child about the cuteness of the animals. The zoo itself is not suffocating and the enclosures are well-maintained and adequately-sized to give the animals space to play in. There is also a playground for kids and lots of interactive experiences. There are also a lot of talks given by the zoo staff about the different animals which were informative and interesting. If I lived in Hamilton, I would definitely visit again.

There are heaps of pet food options - not even that much more expensive than the supermarket, and it's the better quality options as well. Recently I went there and a rep from one of the food companies was there giving out samples and explaining the benefits of that new variety so that was helpful. I've also bought excellent cat toys there. The best one has been the cardboard cat throne. It sits at the end of my desk, and my cat sleep on it all the time (instead of sleeping on my keyboard), and the corrugated cardboard is exciting for her to scratch (instead of the couch) so it's a win all round. Also there's a loyalty program.

From pet bedding to food to even clothing, anything you could ever need for your beloved animal you could probably find here, and if you can't then I'm sure the helpful staff would be obliging in helping you on your quest. You can also actually buy animals here as well - on the back wall there is a whole row of sweet looking puppies and kittens, all either curled up sleeping or jumping around playing with the other pets in their cubicle. There is also a rodent and bird room and an aquarium section, so if dogs or cats aren't your thing and you want something slightly smaller then 4 Seasons have still got you sorted.
