Unprofessional, Unethical, Unresponsive…read more My husband and I used Craig Campbell of Rockwell Realty to purchase our first house together. Craig is quite affable and appeared quite knowledgeable about the real estate/mortgage market. Unfortunately, over the course of the 3-4 months we worked with him, he proved to be unknowledgeable, lazy, unprofessional and unethical. As a first-time home buyer I made it clear that I didn't know what questions to ask or what I didn't know so for Craig and anyone working with me, I requested a very hands-on approach; I want to know everything about the process. Early on, Craig did the bare minimum required to work with us. When we wanted to see houses on the weekend he would often say yes and then cancel. He'd say he'd call and then not get back to us. He was not terribly knowledgeable about Seattle nor was he willing to show us Eastside neighborhoods. This all made for an exceptionally stressful buying process. At the start of working together, Craig agreed to pay an agent referral fee to my sister of 25%, a common practice among agents. Since my sister was crediting the money back to us, Craig agreed that the fee would be placed towards closing costs. The day we went to sign papers, I called Craig to double-check the referral fee would be included. He said yes. When I arrived, the Escrow house said he had not filled out any papers and no money was applied. I texted him as such. He said his assistant "forgot." To date, we have not received this promised money. My sister made several efforts to contact Craig and his manager, Jim Rockwell, to discuss the situation and next steps. Craig promised me he would "make this right" but has been silent on the matter, not returning emails or messages. Mr. Rockwell, only under knowledge of an impending negative Yelp review, condescended to speak to Craig. We have not heard back from either one.

I could not have asked for a more committed realtor, as shown by his promptness accompanying me on last-minute condo/house tours as well as his detailed and incredibly valuable conversations in person, email, and text. His passion, dedication, and exhaustive knowledge of the ins and outs of the Seattle-area real estate market helped me secure the townhome I had been in search of for many months. He consistently took the time to explain various competitive strategies that we could try due to the hot market, yet I never felt pressured into rushing into buying a home for a price that I didn't feel comfortable with. After a few lost offers and some constraints with my rental situation, I got a bit stressed at times and he always approached the situation with light humor and a sense of hope which I greatly appreciated. Partway through the home buying journey, we were assisted by another realtor at Providencia, Sara. She was much newer to the real estate industry than Charles, and while clearly good-intentioned, took more passive of an approach than I would have preferred. While I appreciated the increased flexibility for showings when Charles was unavailable, I felt like I was more on my own with regard to research and strategy, so I was glad that they continued to work as a team. Charles continued to be available for questions and consultations which I found very beneficial and helped me secure the townhome. Sara ultimately worked very diligently at writing up my competitive winning offer which was great, but I think I would have felt a bit overwhelmed and lost regarding the process if I had been working exclusively with Sara from the start. And finally, this may not be bothersome to some people, but I was unimpressed when the keys to my new place were given. After such a long process, I expected a bit more shared excitement and relief, and maybe a nice or clever welcome home gift rather than a simple key hand-off and goodbye. Several weeks later we did receive a thoughtful gift platter from Sara, but the timing felt odd since we had gotten the keys several weeks before. I suggest giving a gift like this when the keys are handed off if possible. Overall I was very satisfied with Charles & Sara operating as a team and could see Sara growing into a stronger solo realtor in the future.
