This forces the tenants to crank their electric wall heaters to avoid frostbite and frozen pipes. I had a tiny little apartment that was costing about $200 A MONTH TO HEAT!! I found several big and nasty COCKROACHES in the apartment during my stay. And to top it all off, they charged me close to $100 TO CLEAN AN OVEN I NEVER USED! I was a very clean and conscientious tenant. I paid my rent on time. I replaced the toilet and shower curtain among other improvements made. I left the place spotless and in great condition. When I questioned my missing deposit from Cindy Sue (the office manager), I was told she could do nothing about it. Nothing. It's a shame. It could be a very nice building, but is owned and managed by inhumane thieves. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!!

I'm writing on behalf of my parents…read more My parents have decided that, at some point in the medium-term future, they'd like to retire to Colorado, and they need to do it on the cheap. They're investigating the areas around Westcliffe and happened upon several Mattie Burtt signs, as well as other realtors. Every other realtor they contacted blew them off; Mattie, however, has gone above and beyond. She has put together brochures, spent a lot of time getting the right information gathered for my parents, spent several hours educating them on how things work in the lightly-populated area (water rights and so on) and has been so incredibly helpful and responsive. My father is NOT an easy man to do business with, but from what I hear she's been patient and understanding. She knows they're not purchasing any time soon, but she still provided such amazing service that they will go above and beyond to use her if they decide to purchase in S. Colorado. Mattie truly seems to be in it for the long haul, and she deserves all the good business that may come her way.
