Jerry Riggleman, a partner at this agency, made an appointment with us as the listing agent in order to show us a house. He seemed very friendly and knowledgeable when we first talked and that he would be easy to work with.
Jerry confirmed our appointment for the next day via text and asked if we were pre-approved, which we weren't but he said "all's good" and stated that he used to work on the lender side. He continued to ask us questions about financing and lenders and if we were ok with his "preferred lender" contacting us. I advised that we would prefer he didn't, but thanked him as we had a lender that we were in contact with but didn't feel the need to disclose this information as we hadn't even seen the house yet. He continued to ask more questions about lenders and our situation and when it seemed as though we were being pressured about using one of his lender's or financing the house before seeing it, I didn't respond to his text asking if we had spoken with a lender and if not, why not.
I had naively assumed that since I didn't hear anything else from him that we were still on for our previously confirmed appointment.
However, we arrived at the house the next day on time for the appointment, but he never arrived. I called him 15 minutes after our scheduled time to see what time he thought he would arrive, and he acted as if he didn't know me at first. He went on to say that he had disclosed that we needed to be pre-approved in order to see the house and that he wasn't in the business of showing houses to people who weren't pre-approved.
At no point in our earlier conversations pertaining to the house or in our confirmation text did he say that we needed to be pre-approved in order to view the house. It would have been simple to cancel our appointment without making work and family arrangements in order to get to the appointment had this information been shared. He had even said "all good" when I confirmed that we weren't pre-approved via text the day before.
To add insult to injury, he didn't even apologize and was rude and angry on the phone when I contacted him and he hung up on me.
Beware of this agent as he may not even show you the property unless he's guaranteed that you will purchase it and have a check in hand when you arrive.
This was my first viewing in PA and first Keller Williams experience and it left a bad impression. Thankfully we weren't interested in the house after only seeing the outside and the evidence of shoddy rehab work, but I think we will avoid this area and agency at all costs in the future. read more
