I would NEVER recommend the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center to ANYONE WHO IS SERIOUS…read moreabout recovery. I was a beneficiary at the Springfield, Illinois location and I was the barber who cut the newcomers hair for free and did as I was asked. I did get kicked out for having a phone which was my own stupidity, but I just went by there and they kicked a guy to the curb who has Parkinson's and was someone everyone looked up to and liked. He was there for a year, worked his ass off, and made a sleezy salary of $21 per week and never offered a job. They said his time was up and kicked this man out and sent him to a homeless shelter where he ended his sobriety and eventually relapsed. I would say he sent himself but this program IS IN FACT nowhere I would send clients who are court ordered nor anyone serious. Being homeless sucks and this is moreless a fake Christian facility built on nothing that Christianity is except to get donations out to make money, but they slave people in 120 degree heat for 8 hours a day with barely no short days on those scorching hot days inside of a warehouse that is dust infested. Even the paramedics complained about how trecherous the heat conditions were up there while carrying a 60 year old or older man because he passed out and went into a seizure. Myself and a few other residents saw an employee put his hands on another client and the client defended himself, the client was not only kicked out of the program, but arrested and the employee is still there. The warehouse dock Supervisor Charles is really racist, when white guys need shoes he has the house manager pick there shoes, but all the black guys have Jordans and other name brand barely used shoes on there feet. Don't believe me? Ask all of the residents! He not only is racist in that way. Kept asking a supervisor who was there to step down so that he can have it all black, that backfired on him. HE IS most definitely stealing from the warehouse. I have caught him walik into the employee bathroom holding a pair of basketball shorts from the sorting table where they sort donated clothes with something hidden under them. Saw me catch a glimpse, stopped and looked around, I kept walking, watching him out of my corner view turn and walk into the bathroom with the shorts. The new Envoy there is all about money. That is his main talk on Wednesdays is about how much $ the store made off of our work and telling us that we don't care about that in a snoody, sarcastic, smart ass way. I was a resident who helped a lot of newcomers and who mainly everyone liked. I also was accused of stealing and they packed up all my stuff and jumped to conclusions. They found out I wasn't lying and let me stay and I didntd get ANY disciplinary action nor an apology. I left on good terms, but I have seen people lose there sobriety more than stay sober. They brought a guy from chicago to stay in the house who was going to work for them (go figure, kick out a man doing an awesome job, God fearing, and worked his ass of with Parkinson's and send him to a shelter because he has no one nor no opportunity to work nor collect disability because they would take it to pay for his stay), but bring someone who was 28 who didn't graduate the program nor who was in the program in Springfield, died the next day, face down in a pillow due to a heroin OD. They want guys to pay if they get a disability check and mainly give all of the check and then they have to work and if they cant they are asked to leave the program. I am 5 months and 14 days clean and sober and that place was a fucking joke!!!!! I consider it a set up to relapse and based on how much money they can make off of us, since the state nor government supports them. If you go, don't think I didn't warn you or tell you so. Good luck and FUCK THIS FACILITY. P.S. iwant to see people succeed in sobriety, so this is not an act of anger nor spite. This is the truth. I even have letters from the directors to my court system saying how good I was doing in the program to back up that I am not just out after this place. This place will give you hope and life and take it away if it isn't making them money. I am back at home and have been for 2 weeks, but when in Springfield I like to go visit the guys and today's visit was shocking and very hurtful and disgusting. That place needs no donations, it needs shut down. ItsInot saving lives, it's a set up for guys to ruin or take there lives. I wouldn't give this place a bit of a star on the rating. This is a place of hurt not help.
