Beautiful scenery and an easy hike. You do need a state park pass, which isn't inexpensive. We went to Roper Lake a few miles away to purchase an annual pass, which is now $200! That's a huge increase from the $75 one we got a few years back. It's good for all the state parks for one year.

Two kids & two adults, we stayed at the tubs for 4 hours. Some times we were alone and some times we shared the tub with several people. The bathrooms are clean and basic. There are some benches and tables surrounding the pools. Word is 2025, they will be re-doing the pools and adding more. I think this little adventure was well worth it and a neat experience.

Note: the Big Room tour is unavailable in summer while the bat pups are learning to fly. It reopens sometime in October omce they migrate south for the winter. Price of parking is included with your tour. A brief pre-tour huddle happens just outside the museum before hopping on the tram for a ride to the entrance. Early morning tours = cool temperatures for this outdoor part of your visit. Come early and view the video in their auditorium which plays on the hour and half hour. Explore their museum area at your leisure. Enjoy the hardens and trails. The gift shop was closed during our visit as they switch vendors. Public restrooms on front and back of buildings were clean, with water fountains and bottle filling stations nearby. Leave *all* your belongings in your vehicle or rent a locker for four quarters each. No coats, bags, cell phones, cameras, back lacks, sunglasses, etc. in the caverns. Picnic tables in the shade in the garden area. Caverns are wheelchair accesible with handicap parking spots by the entrance and a wheelchair lift onto the tram.

Though there are no stairs, the sidewalks inside the cave are not accessible. It is mostly uphill with steep inclines and declines. You would need to be strong to push yourself or be pushed in a wheelchair inside the caves. There were also parts where my wheelchair would not fit through due to narrow paths and hairpin turns. I needed to walk a few steps to get through. I would say the Kartchner Caverns are not accessible, but stair-less.

Trust me, I'd love to relax in the shade catching up on Facebook drama or chatting up my friends but as a parent of a special needs child, I HAVE to shadow two steps behind my son or he'll run off and join a pack of javalinas. Anamax Park is the only park that I've found in the greater Tucson area that was designed specifically for such children and their families. The covered playground has a fence around the perimeter, with only one gate in and out. We visited this park on the Sunday during Memorial Day weekend, and oddly enough it was totally deserted. We were the only family at this 22 acre park. In addition to the little fenced in playground that we visited, there's also a sensory park, but that requires keys to get in which wasn't happening on a Sunday. My review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the bathrooms. Actually, that was kind of a problem...I'm pretty sure the restrooms are in the recreation center building, which was locked up. I'll spare you the grisly details on how that problem was resolved. I did mention that the park was totally deserted, didn't I?
