I have been coming to the recycling center for almost 10 years now. It's the only place I know of to recycle glass (green, clear, and brown) that accumulates from consumption of everyday items. The service is free of charge. It's easy to drive up, start sorting recyclables, and then drive off. I appreciate all the work people do here at the facility to stay organized and keep the property clean. It can get busy on Saturdays but the week is very efficient. My apartment recently stopped their recycling program so I'm glad that this recycling center is close by so that I can continue to try and help the planet. The operation that they have going is pretty simple, yet efficient. You bring your items, organize them yourself and then go off on your way. Usually I'll be in and out in less than 10 minutes maximum. There are often volunteers at the center who can assist you with questions, or if you are struggling with the organization. I haven't had any problems with any of the volunteers, it's cool to see different people getting involved with recycling. The different dumpsters are labeled with what goes into what. However, my only problem with the center is that it feels extremely limiting to what can be recycled. There are a lot of miscellaneous plastics that I end up having to throw away because there isn't a bin to carry those. Also, within the plastics section it says you can put drinking bottles in one bin, and milk jugs in the other. However, this leaves out a bunch of different plastics, which once again I find myself having to throw away in the garbage. I guess in retrospect, at least this center will accept some plastics and will prevent all plastics from being tossed. I typically visit on Saturdays and there are often a lot of other people there. Also, Saturdays seem to be the days where a lot of items start piling up high, I'm glad lots of others are taking the initiative to recycle and help the planet. read more

This place is great! It is not too far off the freeway and there are no residency requirements. They take most things and are open on Saturdays. What else could you ask for in a FREE service. Sometimes, there is a line into the street, but they have a traffic person trying to organize the cars as best as they can. You pull into a parking spot when ready and unload yourself. I had a ton of cardboard when I sent so after the guy saw me moving a bunch to the bin, he brought a mobile bin over to my car so I could just load up there. He then took it away and I was on my way. The staff are so great and COVID precautions were being taken. I will certainly utilize this place in the future. read more

Nice recycling facility if you can ever catch them open. I've tried four times now at 4 in the afternoon after work. Gate is locked even though their hours are posted as open. I realize it is run by volunteers, but really wish I could drop off recycling! read more

Really appreciate the team at this location. They keep it safe and clean for everyone. I noticed not long ago a man in a blue sports car giving the manager and team members a hard time. I have your license plate number and you should be turned in for a violation sir! You harassed the staff! I witnessed it. You didn't park in the allotted spaces. Big thanks to the team for keeping things professional. It's hot outside, the recycling gets heavy. They still kept smiling and being courteous. I like to be a good citizen of the planet, but I also value convenience. When I can accomplish my good citizenship goal AND meet my convenience requirement, I am one happy gal. And in my new neighborhood of Sandy Springs, the Morgan Falls Recycling Center makes me a happy gal. The Recycling Center takes LOTS of items - items that most local recycling pick-up services around Greater Atlanta won't take. Yeah, so you have to drive there. I live close by, so that's no big deal. What IS awesome is that I can drop all my various recyclables off in one spot, and, if I go during staffed hours (M-Sat, 8-4, Sun 9-4), the friendly staff folks actually drag everything out of my car and to the appropriate bins for me. And that is super awesome, and I can drive off feeling good about myself and my environmental-friendliness. Check the website for info on what can and can't be recycled - a few items, like TVs and computers, do have a small fee. Oh, and once you turn off Roswell onto Morgan Falls Road, keep driving down a ways until you see the Recycling Center sign on your left. I want to save the planet as much as the next person, possibly more since I did specifically ask for a place that recycles batteries. And when the combination of the Great Snowcation of 2011 in Hothlanta and the MLK Jr Holiday caused a huge pile of recyclables in our kitchen, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to check this place out. The parking lot reminds me of the recycling area at YDFM - large containers for all kinds of paper (if that doesn't make you want to cancel your magazine subscriptions and write letters about the waste that is the phone book, then I don't know what will). The portion that's in the actual facility has the glass and plastics (#1 and #2 only). Also in the building, there was an area for batteries, but it was labeled "Ni-Cad" (rechargeable batteries) - not your regular alkali. I saw alkali batteries in the bin, so I just left mine there, since it does say on the website that they accept all kinds of batteries. I also saw some alkali batteries in the trash bin a few feet away, so I'm hoping they don't just all end up there... So why less than 5 stars? Mainly because I'm lazy. I couldn't tell who the volunteers were, so I didn't ask about the batteries. Also, at the Roswell Recycling Center, there's an army of volunteers who comes to your car to help you unload and sort, and there's none of that here. Future trips will required extra preparation, to sort the paper, glass, and plastic so that I don't have to go through it all when I get here. They greeted me when I pulled up and directed me to the correct bin ! Fast and easy !

I do everything possible to avoid this jerk central while dealing with the guilt of miscellaneous Trader Joe trash circulating the ocean if I don't recycle. I've been going for years. It was a nice place - ONCE. Rude people started working there, they do everything possible to not make eye contact or look busy while I haul things out the car. Either young and eating crap with visiting booty calls or older and sorting cans at ancient speeds to not bother with anything else. Then when I do empty things out myself, I get pointed at and told to take things across the parking lot to different dumpsters. MAYBE I DON'T WORK THERE AND NEED TO LEAVE. Just a thought. read more

The elder white guy there today was extremely rude to me. It was pouring down hard rain. I had my items all organized and placed them in the appropriate containers (plastic & cardboards). When I went to put a swifter sweeper container in the one of the bins I asked this staff member if it was okay. He yells that it depends on the number on the container (while sitting on his chair under the awning of the building). Since it was pouring down, I proceeded to the plastic bottles container with a huge garbage back of at least 50 plastic bottles. He then rushes off his chair to come and spy on me and starts yelling that I can't put that in there and threatening mannerism. This is the moment he's seeing the swifter sweeper container on the ledge of the bin as I had to use my only other 2 hands to empty out the plastic bottles into their appropriate bin. Instead of politely asking me if I understood what he said previously, he then tries to snatch my hefty bag out of my hand! And I told him to stop while he's yelling that I can't do that. Once I drop the bottles in and he sees that they are appropriate for that bin, he then walks away pretending he was never wrong about his tone with me. Of course at that point I told him he assumed wrong about it and could have been more polite. We are all already doing the planet a good thing to recycle and these centers make good profit, okay!!! They don't need to be so rude and I can't wait to move away so I don't have to come here anymore. read more

The Sandy Springs recycling center is a great spot for feel-good community service and good old environmental protection. Cliff, the primary team lead is a great guy with a passion for what he does. The team of volunteers are great for assisting anyone who passes by during open hours. It's a clean facility where you know your recycling is going to serve a purpose. I can't believe the amount of local community members that recycle! Giant canisters full of recyclable plastic, glass, paper, you name it! It's great to see this great center in our community, and hope they stick around for years to come! I've been a few times now and I definitely recommend this location to friends and community members. read more

We have a saying in the wireless telephone business. "Do it right the first time or never get another chance to do it again." I wish the citizens of this earth would think like cell phone plan sales personnel when they think about the environment. We are seriously wrecking this planet with soda bottles, broken toys, leaky batteries, medical waste and a bazillion plastic bags and if we mess it up enough we might never get another chance to "do it again." I come to the Atlanta, GA area as much as 7 times a year. I always stay in a hotel (usually with terrible cable channel choices LOL) and I eat piles of takeout food since it is difficult to cook for oneself when you are on the road. I t only takes me 45 minutes to an hour out of each day but I make sure to collect my recyclables, separate them and take them here rather than just filling black plastic bags with my accumulated trash and leaving it in my hotel room. Morgan Falls Recycling Center answers all these quandries! You can recycle everything from cardboard and cans (but if you take those to your local fire station they'll benefit the Boot Fund for burn victims) to magazines and electronics. Happy New Year It's time to clean out the clutter & dispose of the things we just don't use or need. This years "New Years Resolution" is to start recycling & after looking at all the everyday stuff we throw out I am/ was feeling guilty that this could be put in a proper place and reused instead of in a landfill destroying the earth we live on. Think about it for a minute all of the plastic water bottles, batteries, coke cans, cat/ dog food cans, detergent, deodorant & even mouth wash all of these containers can be recycled. Morgan Falls Recycling Center accepts glass of every color, newspaper, cardboard, magazines, tin/aluminum cans & plastic bottles or containers that are a # 1 or # 2 not sure turn it over inside of the rounded off triangle is a number. Styrofoam will not be accepted. If you are a bit a of a pack rat and have bills or other personal documents that you are afraid someone will get their hands on & want to depose of them safely there is a shredder available for a small fee. A (office) box will will only set you back about $6.00. Shoes - We all have them, some we don't wear anymore or just can't seem to part with now is the time to let them go. Think of what you can do with the extra closet space & know that someone who can really use them will appreciate your generosity. All you have to do is drop them off in "good condition" please. The Kidney foundation has a truck here and is accepting cloths, household & even electrical items that are in working condition. I'm going to start living a clutter free life thanks to MFRC you might want to check out the one in your area, if we all do a little it will make a difference. read more

A new resident to Atlanta and an avid recycler, I had to search to find a center where I could continue to do my part to help our environment. I went to the center today for the first time. When I accidentally pulled in behind the actual sorting area, a friendly staff member advised me I needed to drive up and around the front. As I started to unload a large quantity of cardboard, another helpful staff member offered assistance and helped me unload all of the moving boxes and paper from my well stuffed car. The center is easily accessible, has ability to accept a number of materials including plastic shopping bags and glass, and the attendees are helpful and work hard to maintain order amongst the volume of materials received. I came to the Morgan Falls Recycling Center on one of the bulk trash days that is offered and was impressed with how organized everything was laid out. Doing my own home projects is rewarding, however I find that I'm left with odds and ends that I rather dispose of properly. I'm glad to say I found the place to take all that bulky trash for proper recycling. The day I went, the recycling effort was mainly focused on wood and metal recycling, however they also offer appliance and electronic recycling on specific days. The only trick is finding a way to get your "item" to the recycling center if it is large and/or heavy...but hey, it's worth it if those things can be disposed of the right way. Or at least that is my take. They also recycle all the usual stuff here as well such as paper and plastic in case you find yourself with a big collection of this type of content, from lets say doing some spring cleaning of a basement or attic. My only knock on the place is that the parking lot was a little small and on the day I went there was a line of cars in the road. This wouldn't have been so bad if cars weren't trying to drive around the traffic on a two lane road. Not a huge deal as the line of cars moved quickly and there isn't much traffic on the road to begin with but it's not exactly the safest traffic management I've seen either. Now that I know this place is here and how easy it is to drop stuff off I'll be back to help save the planet one car load of bulky trash at a time. read more

I have lots of clients in this area so I always keep my extra recycles that are not collected at home and drop them when I go visit dogs for dog walking or cat sitting. They are organized and have lots of volunteers and it's a pretty area. read more

I LOVE THIS. My apartment complex has like a curbside garbage can for each recyclable material, and I don't think the stuff is ever picked up. I'd keep bunches of paper bags in my trunk hoping one day I might be leaving and the thing wouldn't be overflowing. Nope. So after accumulating a giant bag of paper while getting ready to move, along with all the bags of bags and some glass and plastic (I am talking like 7 paper bags of bags and cardboard here, I was a recyclables hoarder) I loaded up the back of my car and headed for Sandy Springs. For paper, the bins are divided into several options: cardboard/paper bags, magazines/phonebooks and mixed paper that excludes cardboard. I had everything set for the most part, and almost immediately a volunteer came to help me out. I think overall three different guys helped me. It was especially nice for my giant bag of magazines and other paper, as I had to put it in a box to even be able to carry it to my car, and this guy had no problems just lifting it up and taking it to the proper bin. I'm hoping my new place will have a better pickup system in place. If not, looks like it's going to be less than 6 miles to get here so there's no "it's so far" excuse, and next time around I'll be better organized about it! I didn't even know I could have taken some of my things I want to donate there too...although I really didn't have room. read more

This place is great - you can recycle everything. However, the "volunteers" are mostly people doing community service and quite a few seem to be court-ordered. Trust me, you can tell which of those HAVE to be there as they are the less-friendly ones. My recommendation, ask for help from the older helpers as they are much nicer and friendlier and don't complain. They are quick to help out my (almost 70-yo) mom empty her car of cardboard and paper shreds and dump them for her. The kids are too busy with the earbuds shoved in their ear canals and jamming to Usher or Ne-Yo to be polite and they tell her (with her cane) to dump everything on the ground and they will "handle it." As long as you get the right helper and it isn't too busy, you are A-OK. Get a kid who is annoyed he has 100 hours of community service he has to complete and you might as well show up in your grubbies and do it all yourself. At least we have a great place to take everything to recycle (and there is a Goodwill drop off as well). read more

I use the Sandy Springs Recycling Center regularly. This is a good facility, one sorely needed because of a lack of a county-wide recycling program. Managing volunteers and assignees is never easy, but Cliff, the short Santa-like manager ( you should see the beard), does a great job. He also operates the heavy equipment like the forklift. Some day, recycling will be fashionable. In the meantime thank you Sandy Springs for providing this popular facility. read more

I found this place when Waste management stopped recycling glass. If it can be recycled this place will take it. They have American kidney fund collection , electronics. You name it. Free mulch is also on site. They did have to start closing gate after hours cause people were dumping trash here. They have a great staff you don't even have to get out of your car. read more

Just went to the Sandy Springs Recycling Center for the first time to drop some recycling things as unfortunately my condo doesn't separate any kind of waste (sad). The guys who were there helped me and answered all my questions... I'll definitely keep separating my recycle items. This is a great place to shed your unwanted recyclables! It has a very convenient drive-through setup and there is staff that can help unload large items and direct you to where specific items belong. In addition, there are collection areas for Goodwill, books and other donations (not recycling), so it is a one-stop de-cluttering wonderland! By the way, there is no cost to recycle. read more
