Rich wore a white lab coat & brought a table cloth & props to present to our community. Rich called children up to his table & was engaging. His experiments with balloons & a leaf blower weren't particularly interesting. Unfortunately, he didn't bring slime; the children made a catapult instead. Scientist Rich walked around and helped the children make their catapults using a spoon, rubber band and popsicle sticks. The mad scientist said there was miscommunication. We made numerous phone calls regarding the miscommunication & disappointing take away activity. This was a very expensive activity that barely lasted an hour & lost half of the children before it was over. I was bored & most of the adults were on their phones. The feedback was that a woman in previous years did more fun activities and the catapult wasn't fun.

Most of the kids watched the show and were interested. That being said, although it was not a birthday party, and just our annual party that we host at our home, the host did not ask me about my kids in the planning (other the ages of the attendees) or to point them out upon arrival, and my kids (both of whom who sat front row for the show) were not selected to participate in any of the tricks or activities despite raising their hands over and over and were upset.

The staff is always so nice and greet you when you walk in and the admission is FREE unless you'd like to make a donation which is greatly appreciated and helps the local turtles and sea life. Kids will have a great time! They even have a children's play area on the upper deck. Very interactive! The outside area is shaded with canopy's and has many tanks filled with turtles, sharks, fish, and stingrays. It's amazing to see and get up close with the beautiful creatures God has created. They have guided tours and there are many volunteers near the tanks to answer all your questions. Very nice, dedicated crew. My favorite is the gift shop. It has a bit of everything you could want and makes a perfect place to get gifts and souvenirs for your family, friends, and yourself. I got a beautiful necklace, a beautiful collar and leash for my puppy back home, and a postcard for my friend. Everything is priced really fairly and it is a donation to help the turtles at the marine life center. I would recommend getting there early or when they open. Parking is HORRENDOUS. It always is usually especially with spring break. You might be waiting awhile for a parking spot. If you see someone starting to leave or backing out wait behind them and give them room to back out and then pull in to their spot. Parking is the only thing that's stressful but you can eventually get a spot. This is a must visit place for the whole family. I love Loggerhead!

The entire event was set up neatly, and you could tell how much care and effort went into making it special. The volunteers and staff were incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly. They took the time to explain the different species of sea turtles and shared so much interesting information in a way that was easy for both adults and kids to understand. It was not only fun, but also a wonderful learning experience. The festival itself was fantastic. There was live entertainment on stage, many vendors to explore, and even free rides, which my kids absolutely loved. The setting alongside the ocean, with the clear blue water, made the whole experience even more beautiful. I also appreciated the hydration stations with free water--it showed how thoughtful and well-planned the event was.

Pros: ~ the instructors show a clear passion for surfing and it's contagious ~ the staff quite obviously loves being around children ~ my daughter learned a lot today; more than I expected Cons: ~ no sense of (or system in place for detecting) dangerous weather conditions. While my phone was alerting me of multiple lightning strikes within a 5 mile radius, these guys had no clue! I'm ok with them just being watchful for lightning beyond 10 miles. But 4.1 miles - come on Aloha. Nature doesn't work for you. ~ seriously unprofessional attire. Seriously, do a bunch of young children need to see your bare jiggly asses? One staff member was wearing a distasteful thong on the beach. Use some basic common sense and show a morsel or respect in a children's camp setting. Can't believe i even have to say this. ~ inconsistent supervision. One child floated way out on a board before he was noticed, some kids were burying an instructor, some were wandering around, some were playing in the water, and others were on boards. There was no real system for knowing who's where/with whom and if a child walked away or were taken, I suspect a long time would pass before it would be noticed. No wrist bands, no head counts, no accountability. This is a low-security camp. Not sure it's a good idea in 2019. ~ low instructor to camper ration = bullies can run rampant. There's always that one kid. And he's there now. Much bigger than the rest, singing inappropriate songs, dumping sand on kids' heads, dragging kids into the water that clearly don't want to be dragged, saying vile things. But he's mostly ignored and he just does whatever TF he wants. Maybe if you had more instructors for such large groups, you'd have a better handle on them. If these issues are addressed, i will be delighted to change my review. For now, it stands unfiltered.

Master Janssen gave us an immediate positive first impression with his friendly demeanor, and we are proud to support his family business (he runs the school with his wife Jay) being that he is an Army veteran. Other than vacation, my kids have spent the whole summer going to the camp, which has included agility and conditioning drills at least three times a week, daily Tae Kwon Do class, and daily field trips (Bowlero, movies, nature hikes in various PBC parks, Rapids water park, and Chuck E Cheese). It has been the perfect mix of exercise, learning the important principles of self defense, respect, discipline, and confidence, and FUN! The more our family has gotten to know Master Janssen, the more we appreciate that he is friendly, but also firm and fair in the way he treats each student in order to get the best effort out of each of them. We are very excited to be enrolling the kids in the after school program, which includes transportation from school, designated homework time, and daily Tae Kwon Do class for children ages 5-11 (K-5th grade)! There is a $69/week promotion for the first month, and then they're offering sibling discounts so the first child will be $99/week, second child $89/week, and third child $79/week! Such a great value! The school also offers classes Monday through Saturday for kids, teens, adults, and families, and there are no belt testing fees! I feel that Tiger Spirit truly has something to offer for everyone, and I'm proud that my kids were the very first students to sign up when they opened their doors this summer. It has been really exciting to be a part of something new and we feel like a part of the Tiger Spirit family now. I would highly recommend this dojang to ANY family!

We now say that Tiger Spirit is the one good thing that came from the quarantine. Both of our kids (6 + 8) started together, followed by my husband. They are learning much more than Tae Kwon Do (which is amazing on its own). They are learning the values of hard work, the importance of courtesy, discipline, and many more life lessons. Tiger Spirit has a high standard and expectations for all of their students - which is wonderful to see your children rise to meet those standards and expectations. My youngest learned one of the most important life lessons - how to persevere after a "failure". Master Janssen's phrases are now regular at home. "Do your best.", "Don't get frustrated, just get better." Tiger Spirit was truly a gift to my family with its summer camp program and then its virtual learning camp. I am thankful that they were able to adapt and provide families with this resource to help us all through the pandemic and distance learning.
