Where do you eat after a dim sum debacle?…read more
Place is among dozens of restaurants within easy walking distance of our Adler hotel. Pictures on the wall of each food item, along with an associated price, for those struggling with their German. Just point and mumble.
I ordered the fisch mit reis und salad fur 18 chf, and the wife ordered the stuffed egg plant with rice and salad for 14 chf. Hole in the wall restaurant with a few tables outside and more tables inside. We order inside, and sit outside.
Service is good, and our meals arrive in minutes. My salad comes with several large slices of tomato, cabbage and lettuce, all soaked in a Ranch like white dressing. The white rice has a butter aftertaste. The fried fish is perfect, not fried too much, just enough to cook the insides, and is tender and flaky to the touch.
Wife's stuffed eggplant tastes different from the eggplant at home, and comes stuffed with sliced beef inside, and other ingredients. Not to my wife's tastes, but she eats it all. Has a piece of my fish, and loves it.
Whole meal comes to 32 chf. I go inside with the bill. Proprietor apparently expects cash, and feints misunderstanding, when I mention paying by credit card. Finally I give him a 100 chf bill, and get change in coins and small bills.
Got to save those coins, as the public toilets are often pay per flush, or about 1.50 chf per flush!
As I go outside, I see the visa credit card symbol on the window! Scammed again like a true tourist!
