"From arranging an aerial flyover for the deceased pilot to orchestrating the departed's favorite band to play graveside to utilizing a tractor trailer in lieu of a hearse for the deceased truck driver, we have been able to honor a family's loved one in just about every way possible. I'm passionate about what I do, and that passion transcends to each and every member of our team. Annually serving the most families in our area is something we're proud of, but we're even more proud of the trust and loyalty we continue to build each day." -Kevin P. Kearney.
History
Established in 1954.
The Old Forge location was started in 1954 by the late Thomas P. Kearney (1925-1994). He was a graduate of the former Eckels Mortuary School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and prior to entering Mortuary School, Thomas served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War.
In 1979, Tom and his son, Kevin K. Kearney, acquired the former Durkan-Cuff Funeral Home of West Scranton, Pennsylvania, from John Cuff, a licensed Funeral Director and son-in-law of the former owner, Margaret Durkan, also a licensed Funeral Director and daughter of the former owner. The Scranton operation was started in 1895 by the late Honorable John F. Durkan, also former Mayor of Scranton.
In 2005, after attending both Villanova and Scranton University , the third generation of Kearney's, Kevin P. Kearney, joined the firms as a Pennsylvania Licensed Funeral Director. He and his amazing team were able to expand the funeral homes' service area while humbly serving an ever-increasing number of new families.

Located in the small town of Old Forge where traditions rule, the Thomas P. In achieving this mixture, we have developed a style all of our own.
Located on Main Avenue in the heart of West Scranton, the Kearney Funeral Home, Inc. boasts a long history in the funeral business. Formerly known as the Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home, this location continually undergoes physical improvements while still retaining inklings into its storied past. Despite the storefront facade, the funeral home's depth makes it possible to regularly hold multiple viewings. The rear parking lot is capable of fitting forty or more vehicles. Catering to an expansive array of families throughout Northeast Pennsylvania, the Scranton location continues to thrive - as a product of both its past and its future.
