Wow, I can't believe that I am the first to Yelp about 'St. Joseph's, our Dear Alma Mater...'…read more Words any alumni would know by Heart. What to say about St. Joseph? The first would be that I think it is a bit misunderstood. While I didn't always like it, (what High Schooler really loves being in school?), St. Joe's was a special place. As I have gotten older, I have grown to appreciate that more and more. In the years since leaving its halls, at this point, nearing 15 years since I graduated, I have run into a great many other alum and it has a very family feel. My class was stacked at 54 students, the largest in years at the time, so for those of us who make it through St. Joe, we do become family, it was more than just a number. The best part of St. Joseph, believe it or not, are the teachers. As you grow older, you realize that those people were really caring and did have a love because teachers in general are underpaid, especially teachers in small Catholic schools. Anyhow, I recommend this spot. There will be those who hate any school you send them to but at least you will know your kids are among a special group.

How do your rate your alma mater? Especially when you didn't fit in, hated going to classes &…read morebarely survived all 4 years? This is coming from a geezer - I've been out of school for more than a decade now, but back when I was attending, this school was a Blue Ribbon award winner. We were featured in some national publication and I know that the Blue Ribbon award is designated for only top performing schools in the nation. Not easy to get. Our school back in the mid-1990's was supposedly the second largest in the State of Hawai'i before Kea'au High School was built and Kamehameha Schools FINALLY came to build a high school in Kea'au. My graduating class was composed of roughly 500 seniors. We had Dan "The Man" Sakai was our principal --- the dude who wore his pants all the way up to his chest like Steve Urkell and would perform his infamous one-handed push-ups at our retarded "first-day-of-school/back-to-school" assemblies in the school gym. He'd also invite the entire football team to come down from the bleachers to perform them with him. So sad, cuz some of dem couldn't even keep up with him! He was hard as nails, but he kept our school in check. Since graduating in the late 1990's, I've heard the kolohe kids at this school have managed to run out 3 or 4 principals. Da hell happened? Back when I was attending, this was "Tokyo High," our school was BIIF Football champions for 4 years in a row, etc. I didn't care for high school, barely passed through classes to graduate, and don't have much friends/classmates I really keep in touch with ... but, was proud to say I attended this school. At least we was smarter than da kids at Pahoa!

I highly recommended this school.I love this school is so much better then my old school.I was…read morepicked on at my old school and at this school I was not.GO WARRIORS
