Prior to this I had seen several doctors, been to a pain management clinic, done PT, chiropractor, massage, and even acupuncture. Nothing was relieving my pain to any significant degree so by the time I went to Dr. Bremen I was fairly desperate. The first thing that surprised me is that her first appointment with me lasted a full hour. I can't remember a doctor ever spending that much time with me. Most of it was her asking me questions and getting a detailed history of my symptoms. After a short physical exam she prescribed me some medication which I can report several weeks later is the first medication I've tried that has actually reduced my pain. She also referred me to a shoulder specialist for a previously undiagnosed shoulder problem that could very well be contributing to my neck pain. The other thing she did which no other doctor has ever done was give me her email address. Seems like such a small thing but now if I have a question I don't have to pay for another office visit I can just send her an email and she will respond usually within 48 hours. After my appointment I actually felt physically better for no other reason than I felt like I had finally found a doctor that cared and was going to work to help me find a solution to my pain. I highly recommend Dr. Bremen. Unfortunately it's rare these days to find a doctor who will give you this level of one on one care.

Prior to seeing her I had the worst headaches of my life and my vision was going down hill and was on the verge of not being able to cope with life in general. Prior to me being referred to DR Bremen I had been to the emergency room, my primary doctor and an eye doctor. She truly seems to care and listens to her patients, not the typical doctor that has you in and out within 5 mins.

I expected that undergoing the removal of both large toe nails would be a most painful process; but it wasn't at all. Sans a couple TINY little fleeting sparks of discomfort, I'd felt nothing but a bit of pressure throughout the entire surgical removal of those toe nails! Afterwards, that night and the next few days were incredibly pain free. There were a few little fleeting sensations of soreness but that was to be expected. As a matter of fact, the only real pain I experienced was at my own hands... or should I say, feet! Lol. I accidentally stubbed one of those toes on my coffee table. They are both healing well, and I'm thankful that I chose Dr. Bondi because he's obviously done this a few 100 times... He was amazing!!! I highly recommend him!!!

My first appointment was to talk with Dr. Cullen who did an excellent job explaining what exactly happens during the procedure. He and his awesome assistant Erin were very kind and patient with my questions. The staff was super nice especially the front receptionist and Megan the nurse at Beacon. Really everyone was so professional and friendly I'm sure the surgery would have been successful.

I'm the caregiver for an adult with high-functioning cerebral palsy--a retired computer programmer…read morewho is intelligent, communicative, and uses a powered wheelchair. Earlier this year, he began experiencing knee pain and instability, leading to a fall and a hospital stay in January. X-rays were taken, and following rehab, we began care with Dr. Roberts' office. Initial treatment included cortisone shots, but by April, the pain and lack of stability worsened. A physician's assistant in the office provided a brace, which was ineffective. When we requested a follow-up, Dr. Roberts was too booked to see us in a timely manner, so we were referred to KU for evaluation. KU confirmed, after they ran X-Rays, that the knee was not properly aligned but had even longer surgical wait times. Based on a positive prior experience with Dr. Roberts (who performed a successful surgery for a family member), we opted to stay with him, hoping for faster care. In preparation for surgery, I moved the patient into senior living where he could receive physical therapy and home health assistance. We completed all required pre-op steps, including medical clearance, pre-surgical classes, and medication prep. Surgery was scheduled for June 11. On the day of surgery, Dr. Roberts felt the knee and expressed concern about a possible torn patellar tendon. He ordered an MRI and admitted the patient overnight. That was the last time the patient saw or heard directly from Dr. Roberts. The next morning, a physician's assistant visited the hospital room, and asked us if tests had been run. I was discouraged at this question thinking, "Your office ordered the tests, you should know that and you should be coming to see us to explain the results not to ask if the tests even happened." He said the doctor would be in touch later and that the patient would be staying overnight again at the hospital. However, within the hour, we were notified that there was no tendon tear, and the patient was being discharged. The sudden decision left us scrambling to arrange specialized wheelchair transport (another expense) with little notice. Unfortunately, the patient was left with no plan of care and no follow-up communication from the doctor's office. I called the office immediately and didn't receive a response until late the following day--nearly 36 hours later. We were offered an appointment with a PA or to see Dr. Roberts a month later. I messaged through the patient portal with several questions: What did the MRI actually show? Is physical therapy still safe? Is this a complex case requiring a different specialist? Could we get a Zoom call or any direct communication with Dr. Roberts? It took another full week to receive any answers, and the response was minimal--only confirming there was no tendon tear. At that point, I began seeking a second opinion. Another orthopedic team was willing to evaluate the case that same week--if they could get the medical records. Despite multiple requests from myself and the new office, it took four days to get the records transferred. The new doctor is now seeing the patient on July 1--still earlier than Dr. Roberts' next available appointment. They've already scheduled additional imaging to fully understand the situation before the first visit. In hindsight, I believe the biggest issue was that the pre-surgical evaluation was incomplete. For a patient with a complex condition and non-standard mobility, more detailed imaging and planning should have happened before surgery was scheduled--not the morning of. While we acknowledge that not all cases are simple, the lack of timely communication after surgery was canceled--and the absence of a plan for next steps--caused unnecessary confusion, costs, stress, and delays in care. We had high hopes based on a previous successful surgery by Dr. Roberts on a different family member. However, this experience has been deeply disappointing. If a case is outside of a physician's scope of expertise, the patient deserves to know that up front, not after significant preparation and disruption to their life. We spent a great deal of time and money and are now back at square one with a new physician.

Amanda at the front desk has been amazing trying to help us as best as she can but this has been an on going issue with the actual billing office and sadly lack of communication with ALL management. My son has always been dual insured and as someone who works in medical billing I do this for good reason, Amanda has always collected and kept that updated in his chart. The billing department has failed to 1 file both insurance companies 2 file the correct insurance company and 3 file in the correct order. I am afraid to know how much we have overpaid without realizing it. I didn't start paying attention ( my fault) until I started getting $500+ bills from them when we should have only owed $35 per visit. It took having Amanda request a detailed ledger multiple times before they sent it to her for me. They do NOT have a phone number to speak with billing on any invoice and refuse to contact patients. I have requested a call from them, their manager, Amanda's manager and the director. I still have not heard anything from anyone BUT Amanda. They do not have an issue with texting and emailing me reminders about at $50 balance every week and a new statement every month ( with the practice phone number not billing ) but they can not be bothered to reach out when requested. This is bad practice management at it's finest. As much as we have loved our physical therapist and my son has built a really good relationship with them we have switch our care to another practice based off of their billing practices and lack of adequate management communication.
