Firstly, the persistent elevator malfunctions in the building have been a recurring issue since my…read moremove-in date. Specifically, the 13th floor and below have consistently had limited access to elevators, with only one operational at many times. Instances of elevator breakdowns have been documented on the following dates: 8/31/23, 9/13/23, 9/29/23, 10/26/23, 11/1/23, 11/9/23, 11/10/23, 11/11/23, 12/2/23, and 1/3/24. As of 1/17/24, there are currently no functioning elevators to my apartment, and the parking garage elevator is also out of service. Furthermore, the constant buzzing noise from all elevators during the first four months of my tenancy has been extremely disruptive. These incidents highlight management's inability to maintain the elevators. Moreover, the garage door has been broken and left wide open on 9/29 and has been broken again since 1/9/24. During this time, the key fob reader to access the tower sky bridge from the parking garage has not been functioning, posing a significant security risk. Anyone can walk into the garage from the street, and have access to everyone's vehicles, the entire North Building and the entire Tower. The parking garage has water leaking consistently throughout the entire year onto peoples cars. Each winter the same pipe seems to break. The coffee machine, a very frequently used amenity by many residents, broke on 12/29 and took over two weeks to repair, causing inconvenience to residents. The condition of the indoor dog park has been subpar since 11/29. There has not been sufficient effort to minimize the effects of the ongoing work in that area. The air conditioning has failed on 9/3/23 and 10/6/23, both days with temperatures exceeding 90 and 70 degrees, respectively. Disturbing incidents, such as vomit in the lobby, hallways, and common areas, along with consistent pet waste in hallways, elevators, and walkways, have contributed to an unsanitary living environment. The trash system has been problematic, with dog poop bags consistently overflowing the bin outside the front doors. There are inconsistent valet trash pickups. I have received multiple trash tickets for alleged violations that are baseless, such as "pet waste not double bagged" (I do not have any pet waste in my garbage) and "leaving my trash outside during non-pickup hours." My trash was left outside during non-pickup hours because Valet Trash did not pick it up. They recently opened a podcast room (spending money on this, rather than fixing issues we were already experiencing) and the trashes in here are consistently overflowing as well. The Wi-Fi and AppleTV in the newly opened podcast room do not work either. Additionally, amenities such as the poolside TVs do not function as advertised. There are speakers and a sound system provided at the pool; however, we are unable to use it as residents living poolside come out quite literally yelling about its use. Residents moving poolside should be made aware that they may need to accept these matters before signing a lease. Last, I would like to highlight the lack of urgency in communicating situations occurring in the building. On 1/17/24, the elevators were down for well over 3 hours before residents were notified about the issue. Despite my personal call to the leasing office, residents did not receive communication until an hour later. The leasing office consistently promises to "provide updates" on situations, but we rarely receive follow-through on this commitment. We have older residents who are not physically capable of walking up and down the stairs living in the apartment and I am concerned about their wellbeing. The cumulative impact of these ongoing issues and disruptions to the amenities promised as part of my lease agreement is reflected in the diminished quality of living. I am hoping the building takes swift resolution that will contribute to a more comfortable and enjoyable living environment for all residents. Sadly, I am not hopeful that this will happen based on the lack of urgency I have seen from property management so far.

The apartment foyer is a mix of art deco as well as the Spanish style that fits the rest of the plaza aesthetic. The closet designs are so clever, with shelving space to hide boxes, etc. behind the clothes racks of walk-in closets (I had two in my one-bedroom). The French doors that open up to a two-foot long balcony allow you to let fresh air in and set planters pots outside. I really enjoyed my time at this apartment, and the property managers who took care of everything promptly and professionally.

I lived on the first floor so it felt like it was just going downstairs to do my laundry since there was never anyone down there when I went. The plaza is a short walk away and parking was easy most of the time on the streets. There is plenty of parking garages nearby for a monthly fee. I moved from North Carolina to KC and was just trying out the plaza area while waiting for my family to arrive 9 months later. I have a dog and a cat but they were with my family in NC. I tried city living since I'm more of a rural person and have come to the conclusion that I am better off living in a smaller town but I loved the Brownie as I called it. Love the 1920's architecture with steam radiant heating. The small apartment had everything I needed for the short time I was there. Thanks for everything Jodi!

You'd walk into the office and everyone would know your name, your life, and actually be invested in you. The leasing office would put on great events for the residents- wine nights, huge pool parties, etc. You truly felt valued as a resident there. It's in a great location and you get a lot of room in your apartments. The past year management has change and it drastically shows. The manager is extremely hard to get ahold of, anytime you go into the office she is hiding in her office and we are told we will have to wait to speak to her. Don't bother emailing or calling her, it won't be responded to at all. Our amenities have gone down, there is no more free printer/ office space for those to work at home. The pool grills do not work and are a huge fire hazard - but don't worry you can use the charcoal grills outside of the pool that the homeless people love to put their trash and cigarettes in. The minimal resident events are pitiful- I think we've had maybe 1 event in the past 6 months. Where are all these amenities they like to brag about? My apartment has flooded multiple times causing MONTHS of not being able to use a bathroom, closet, and living areas due to construction, walls getting torn down, etc. Management was no where to be seen during that entire process, only once I went to willow bridge property management then I got a response out of our new manager. The men working on my apartment actually told me that the office and staff were talking poorly about me. Insane!! While I originally loved my time at City Place- I'm afraid that this new change has been too much for this apartment complex. I think there are way better options for people in the KC area for apartments/housing and would tell others to be very very careful about renting here.

I was moving from out of state and they gave me a video tour of an apartment that would potentially look similar to mine once I live there at a closer glance is when I've noticed multiple problems. First off the flooring, completely peeled .. lots of bugs, especially when it gets warm out I've seen multiple oriental cockroaches that are very big in size when you call they have an excuse of why pest control can't come, but yet they charge you for pest control every single month even though they make you wait months . they nickel and dime you for everything be prepared to be quoted one amount add about $150 to the amount that you're quoted.. they charge a $35 pet fee every single month plus have you pay a deposit for your pet when you move in which doesn't make sense why I have to pay a deposit that's over $300 ? plus I have to pay monthly pet rent. There's absolutely no parking for guests and if you don't pay, there ridiculous parking garage fees then you're not able to find a parking spot either and you have to park very far away from the apartments. The area has gone downhill and you see frequent homeless people all around the community. they are no longer picky about who they let live here. It seems as though they let anybody move in . I have seen drug deals go down right in front of my building. Walls are paper thin you can hear your neighbors conversations. If you live on the pool side, be prepared to hear yelling, screaming & loud music all day. They promote these apartments as luxury and yet there is absolutely no dog park. How are we still being charged pet rent monthly ? when there's no dog park how are you saying you're a pet friendly community ?? put a dog park especially being charged pet rent. Everything is old in the apartments from the appliances to the walls to the lights. They do not upgrade the apartments. There is no ventilation from building to building around your building and inside of your building. It is completely filthy. The valet trash is a complete nightmare you have to have a specific type of trash bag or they refused to take it. They also write you notes that you violated the trash. It's ridiculous. You're paying for the trash. They won't take more than two trash bags.. on top of that they don't come every single day or they purposely miss your building. Tenants wouldn't have multiple trash bags if the valet trash actually came when it was supposed to. Another thing that we're charged every single month for but we don't get the daily service . The area is not clean around the building the workers that do landscape services around the building are creepy i've been harassed just walking my dog around them. They loiter during their breaks a group of them will stand, wave , stare and try to talk to you & motion to pat your dog and won't leave you alone .. despite you walking away & telling them NO and give you creepy looks. I no longer feel safe walking my dog alone by myself. Maintenance can be really good or really horrible if you ask them to replace or fix anything, they rather come back multiple times and try to fix something instead of replacing it even though it's unfixable. Maintenance workers are not diligent. You can tell they don't care about the building. They don't come when they're supposed to. I've had leaks in the apartment before and it's taking them hours to come even though they claim they'd be there within the next hour. they upped the rent, which is totally unjustified for them to do so especially since they have put no upgrades in any of these apartments there's water damage on the walls and on the ceiling there's also what looks like mold on the ceiling. these apartments are not luxury !! on top of that The staff is rude. No one answers the phone anymore. When you walk in you don't get a warm smile or a warm welcoming attitude, and they whisper and stare and say things I would not recommend this apartment everyone has attitudes if you call the staff they have no idea what's going on. They've gone through multiple new leasing staff members. I'm guessing it's not a warm welcoming place to work at as they go through staff changes multiple times a year. It's definitely not a warm welcoming place to live. I do not recommend living here .. unless you wanna put up with high rent and unsafe place to live broken appliances in your apartment & high rent . I can't wait till my lease is over. I would never recommend this place.

She was on time, super fun to work with, and even offered a glass of wine as we went over some of the pricing information for various floor plans. The unit was stunning and I immediately knew it was the location for me downtown, so I signed a lease and moved in in July, and have absolutely loved it. I looked around at buildings for almost a month and Sky on Main was hands down the best option. Connie informed me during my walk through that there is construction going on during week days. I work from home and the noise has been completely manageable, and easy to tune out with quiet music when seldom necessary. My 20th floor views are insane. To the south I look at beautiful downtown KC and to the west I can watch the sunset and see the river. The entire 24/7 security staff is super personable and helpful with random needs, package deliveries, and guest entry/exit. Any maintenance request I have had has been taken care of in less than 24 hours. The rest of the office staff has been great as well. The parking garage is super convenient and safe, the gym is always clean and organized, and CVS is across the street. Did I mention there is a basketball court, air hockey, pool table, and couch/lounge area!? There is a 24/7 self serve snack room with drinks and food. MILDRED'S is on the 2nd floor. I spent quite a bit of time trying to find the right place for my situation. I have children, so security was paramount. I also wanted something that was in an active area of the city and had a strong 'community' feel and finally I wanted a place that 'took care of itself'. I selected Sky and have been very happy with the decision. Regarding security, this place is outstanding. Security is well done and the security staff are always professional and courteous. I have seen them escort the UPS/Amazon folks around the building making sure your packages hit your door. The area around Sky is active, there are a couple of great restaurants next door and the river market or P&L are a 7 minute walk away. The street car can be hit or miss but everything is still very close. The community piece of the puzzle is a bit of a work in progress, but the building management are doing everything they can to make that awesome. We have monthly activities, a yoga instructor is provided 3 times a week, one of the best gyms in KC, a nice porch area facing main &10th street, and a roof top area that is first rate. I once lived in a town home where a maintenance ticket took over a year to be resolved. I knew I didn't want to end up in that position again. The building management, and maintenance teams at Sky are 'on it', I have seen people working after hours and on weekends for tenants. I have placed a handful of tickets and they have all been resolved in less than a week and high priority tickets are resolved in hours. You really can't ask for more than that. The building management is responsive, professional, and truly cares about the tenants. I hear stories from my friends at other high rises/lofts about their management companies and I count myself fortunate to be in the spot I am. So, in closing, the views are amazing, the building is very quiet and safe, and you can't beat the location.

I'm…read morefrom Los Angeles and I've had my share of really crappy landlord relationships in the past, mostly due to negligence on their part. When I lived in Los Angeles I would move at the end of every lease I ever completed because it was never worth staying another year. When I moved out to Kansas City 5 years ago I went on the pain-stakingly tedious search for an apartment I could stay put at and when I found Buick Lofts it was like a dream come true. My husband and I have been around this loft since before the new management came into the picture. I was certain that I was going to have to leave on the first year because the Air BnB issue was OUT OF CONTROL. We nearly had a break in from the strangers who kept frequenting the Air BnB units that surrounded our unit every weekend. Had I been told in advance that our floor would have been all Air BnB units, we would have never signed the lease. However - in the last few years the building went under new management. Be prepared for a joyous update: They got rid of the Air BnB units!!!!! THANK GOD!!! Ever since Rei came in and fixed up all the problems, we have had an amazing time ever since. My husband and I plan on putting another few years into our apartment before we go house-searching to start a family. I would say out of all of the apartments I've had in my adult life, this one so far has been the most accommodating, refreshing and rewarding. It's also the longest amount of time I've ever stayed at the same apartment, I'm used to moving once a year but this place really feels like home, there would be no reason to leave it. The landlord staff are friendly and attentive to tenant needs and you can't argue with that sweet garage parking! Thank you Buick Lofts for making this place my home sweet home here in Downtown Kansas City all these years.
