Back in 2014 my wife and I began exploring homes in the greater Stowe area and reflecting back, it was a stroke of good fortune that we called Pete Kelly. Whether it was life events such our first child, irregular home inspection findings or unpredictable sellers; Pete and his father Joe never showed fatigue and never tried to rush us into anything. At times I had to scratch my head and wonder how such dedication could be profitable but Pete and Joe work on the "client first" principle placing profits second to people. Both Pete and Joe bring a rare combination of realty experience, business sense and good values to the table. In fact, as late as summer of 2016 they openly advised us to pass on a home we were enthusiastic about and raised some important considerations we were not seeing. Remember, this is over a year-and-a-half of showings, inspections, travel and leg-work after seeing dozens of homes. A lesser realtor would have been inclined to just get us into a home and move on. Right up to the end, Pete and Joe did not waver in their commitment to helping us buy a home that best met our specific criteria within our budget. Eventually we did find the right home and we instantly knew it was worth the effort and can see now that Pete and Joe helped us avoid some major pitfalls. From the time we arrived in the driveway, there was ZERO accountability and no contingency plan for a property that was not clean, not up to expectations that we were ready to walk away from on Day 1. House had not been inspected by Stowe Country Homes prior to our arrival and we had to deep clean the property ourselves to make it presentable. We were refunded a cleaning deposit. The driveway had been plowed but a huge 4 ft snowbank was left in front of garage doors that we had to shovel on our own to even access the garage for the cars. Happened again mid-month without acceptable intervention from Stowe Country homes. I would appreciate a phone call from the company manager to discuss all the shortcomings but no one there wants to address anything once the reservation has started; and we were there for the entire month of February. Should I mention the Lady Bug and black fly infestation?! If Stowe Country Homes insists on laying the blame on the property owner, than that house (Elmore Meadows) should not be considered for your rental pool of homes. I/we expected more!!

Reservation request requested and accepted my credit card information. Later I receive an email stating property owner will only rent for 30 day stays. Called Katrina who had previously apologized in email yet claims there is no mistake when I point out the customer experience and financial risk. Next stop complain to BBB on their bait and switch tactics. Asked owner Nancy to contact me but doubt the coward will based on reading other reviews.

After the last day, Stowe Realty fabricated claims about the time I vacated the property and damage in the unit, some of which would have literally been physically impossible to have occurred. They withheld my security deposit and did not provide a single piece of evidence for their ridiculous claims...not even repair estimates from service providers for the supposed damage. Adding insult to injury, I actually left the condo in cleaner shape than how I received it. I'm writing this review to reveal the scam Stowe Realty runs, which I'm sure has happened to others as well.
