Our experience in contracting with Dennis Bodenstein and KB Contractors in 2015 ended up in court in 2016 and in commencing a complaint with the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation: Board of Contractors in 2017. As a result, Dennis Bodenstein's license was suspended on June 19, 2018 and he had 90 days to have the suspension lifted. His license expired on July 31, 2018. He is now (3/16/2019) operating without a license from the Commonwealth of Virginia. Go to: "VaDPOR license lookup" and enter 2705108682. This is the expired Class B license number of Dennis Bodenstein. Dennis Bodenstein was found guilty by the Board of Contractors of (1) not obtaining a building permit and not calling for mandatory inspections: (2) committing 4 violations of having work done by unlicensed subcontractors (concrete foundation, plumbing, electrical, HAVC); and, (3) failure to obtain written change orders. VaDPOR does not protect the consumer who "contracts" with an unlicensed contractor, so no monies were awarded to us. Unlicensed activity--practicing a profession without a required state license--is a misdemeanor criminal violation. VaDPOR issues professional credentials--licenses, certificates or registrations--in the least intrusive, least burdensome and most efficient way in order to ensure the minimum competency necessary to practice without harming the public. Before contracting with Dennis Bodenstein one should obtain the advice and guidance of a competent construction attorney. We did not take our own advice. read more
