There was a little bit of a wait, but no worries there. They offer some pretty good menu del dia options, though we just ordered a few tapas and some drinks: beer, wine, patatas bravas, albondigas, and croquetas. The bravas were really good and so were the croquetas. They put a unique twist on the albondigas, incorporating some orange citrus notes (when in Valencia, I guess...) but it didn't quite land, especially in comparison to traditional albondigas. Still a really cool place with a fun vibe. Service was friendly too. Would definitely return and try more menu items.

Combining the technical skills of French cuisine, with the detailed flavor awareness of Italian, as…read morewell as the fresh ingredients and profile of Spanish food results in an intriguing mix of culinary arts displayed by contemporary restaurant Palao Bistrot. Every day, the chef at Palao Bistrot selects fresh raw ingredients from the market, creating a menu that reflects the beauty and range of the Valencia garden. My friend and I ate at Palao Bistrot for dinner, and were more than satisfied with our experience. The service was great, as everyone was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant design is contemporary yet inviting, with warm wall colors and tall wood tables that create an intimate atmosphere. We started with the fish of the day - salmon - and shared an order of salmon sashimi, which was sliced just right, getting enough of the raw flavor in each piece. The fish was so fresh, tasting like it was just caught that day. This dish shows how Palao Bistrot stays true to its concept of only using the freshest ingredients. My friend loved her main course of vitello tonnato, which was sliced veal covered in a creamy, mayonnaise-like sauce flavored with tuna. She raved about the sauce, saying the tuna flavor was not overpowering but instead enhanced the taste of the meat. I opted for French duck thigh confit, with potatoes baked with thyme. Expertly seasoned, this dish would make any renown French chef proud. The potatoes were tender and not mushy, and the duck was juicy. We both enjoyed the oven baked crespella with ragu sauce, which was savory and cooked to perfection. Dinner was completed with my first ever bonet, a dessert from the Piedmonte region of Italy, it was chocolatey perfection. I highly recommend Palao Bistrot for anyone looking for a mix of culinary influences. From the service to the atmosphere, we loved everything about the restaurant, especially the delicious food!

This was not a good realization since we had become accustomed to the slow pace style of dining and had also arrived about 15 minutes late. We came to enjoy dinner and conversation with some friends we met in the area and the hurried service kinda spoiled that experience. We hurried to rush after being scolded by our server who made it clear that she could not wait any longer for us to decide. I had hoped to order the tasting menu but we instead chose to order one tapa each. We ordered the octopus, corn fritters, ceviche, and fried prawns. All of the food was very good. We ordered two desserts as well. The doughnut and dulce de leche dessert which were both fabulous. If I had to make my decision based on solely the food, I would say go here without a doubt. The food and the ambiance are amazing. But if you want to relax, eat and hang out with friends this may not be the place for you; not unless you have plans to go somewhere else afterward.

What an experience…read more I'm mostly the last guy to head to the tourist center to get some authentic local food, but this place was recommended by a colleague so I had to test it out. By now, I've been twice. Located in a very narrow, authentic little street right near the Plaza del Reine but still tucked away. The GM or owner is amazing. Very energetic and knows how to sell his restaurant. We wanted to sit outside but had to wait so we waited at the bar. When we ordered a bottle of cava, the guy immediately told us to upgrade. Instead of $17 it was $25 but I can assure you, it was the best cava I ever had. Once seated outside, we order tapas as we pleased and every single one of them was a feast by itself. The amount of food served on each plate combined with all the options you had, it was incredible. At the end we drank 2 bottles of wine including the cava and we had 6 or 7 tapas with 3 people and the bill wasn't even close to €80.
