We found a little bit of heaven here in Raeford ! We came down for the weekend to visit our family who lives down here and they raved about Kayla Renée cakes and for us to meet them to grab a few delectable treats. Let me first start off by saying what a charming location and business. It is absolutely spotless, and the decorations really fit the business. My hat is tipped to the decorator. And the display cases of the various treats are absolutely inviting. The staff are so very friendly in a really exhibit that southern hospitality and welcoming you into the business. Could not ask for a better staff. I don't even know where to begin other than if you take a look at the pictures they have an amazing selection of cake, cheesecake, brownies, cupcakes, scones, and the list goes on and on ! I was like a kid in a candy store, I'll take one of these and take one of these and take one of these until I filled a box actually and I love my sweets and pastries. So I find something very unique and that is a peach cobbler type of cheesecake and I had to sit down and enjoy it in the shop and let me just tell you it was absolutely incredible and then I had to go back up and get a chocolate peanut butter, cupcake, and that was completely off the wall, incredible again. There are not too many of these type of businesses around anymore and it's nice to see that there is one offering such amazing selections of the various pastries and cakes and cupcakes, etc. Everything was done to perfection and with a very creative touch, and also I must not forget a loving touch of the passion that they have for baking. I would highly recommend stopping here if you're in the area and I didn't notice they are closed on Sunday and Monday. And they do specialize in making cakes, whether it be for a birthday or a wedding or a special event, I would definitely give them a call as I believe you cannot beat the quality and the love going into it. We were visiting my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson in Raeford, North Carolina this past weekend and they always talk about the bakery they go to, and we finally had a chance to go along. I can't say enough about this bakery! All of the employees were more than willing to answer all of the questions that we had about their different cakes, cookies, etc. The bakery is decorated very nicely and it's so quaint, such a nice feel to it. And most of all, their products are absolutely positively delicious. I had one of their oatmeal cream cookies that was so very delicious and my husband had the peach cobbler cheesecake, and that was also amazing. My husband took an assortment of goodies along with us to take back to Pennsylvania and he is still enjoying them. When we come back to visit again, this will definitely be a stop for us. read more

Used to love coming here as the girls behind the counter are always pleasant and the pastries aren't half bad, however, recently we experienced something that ensured we won't be returning. My wife and I were waiting outside underneath the canopies along the store front walls as it was raining and the store had just opened to let people in. There was a line but we noticed people going in and out that weren't in line, so I walked up to the front door to see what the situation was. Turns out it was vendors getting coffee. I got back in line with my wife, but then overheard a group of people under the canopies say they weren't in line waiting to go inside. We weren't sure how many people were in that group, so we made our way ahead the people standing with them that weren't moving forward. As we approached the door there was a family two small children and their parents standing behind us waiting to go inside that I noticed was in line ahead of us, so I stepped aside to let them go in first since they were there better we were. It seemed the father was a little irritated thinking we were trying to cut in front of them so he yanked the door open, and told his wife and kids to "come on". As the family was shuffling in the door, none other than Kayla Renee herself comes pushing past the family and through the door into the store. No excuse, no thank you, just pushes on by. I said "sure, go on in". Naturally my wife shushes me, we go inside, get our stuff and leave. Gotta say, after seeing how someone that supposedly came from nothing has become so entitled that she feels she has the right to push past people waiting in the cold and rain to give them their money, especially two small children, is mind boggling to me. Not that two customers will probably make a difference, but we won't be returning after that. I can't stand entitlement, nor ill mannered people and I'm sure as hell not giving my money to the like. read more

Honestly the best bakery for this area. We just love how friendly everyone is and the rotation of baked sweets. I wish I drank coffee because their coffee menu sounds delightful! They're in the middle of moving locations (but just across the street) so things are changing within the store. I recently said parking could be an issue but I've stopped by at different times and it honestly has been fine. Only issue is if there is an event downtown but you'd want to park out a bit anyways. Been going to get the baked treats since opening her first bakery, as of today's grand opening of her new bigger bakery across the street, she and her family done a super job as the new bakery is much bigger and able to display many, many more delicious goodies, treats as well as beverages hot and cold. The service from her team was amazing with the large amount of folks coming out and supporting this local business today. We got there at 10am and waited in line to two hours before we got in the shop. There was no shortage of anything after approximately 100 folks were in front of us. The interior decor was very eye catching as well as the Merch rack with shirts and hats for sale. A really great little local bakery! We went for fourth of july and tried a few treats. Her poptarts are absolutely incredible- especially if you warm it up at home! We tried some macarons, but were really disappointed with the bomb pop flavor. It was sweet, but didn't really taste like anything. We had a strawberry lemonade which was TOO sweet. We ended up mixing it half with water at home to make it drinkable. I wish they opened a bit earlier! read more

What can I say. On a trip to Main Street in raeford- we stopped in. Omg! The bakery was inviting and beautiful inside. The treats were beautiful and beautifully displayed. The butter cake was exceptional as well as my oatmeal cookie with cream in the middle-it reminded me of Back home. So to say the least I misbehaved today and bought some treats. We love our community and we always try to support local businesses. You must go by and visit- check out all the cupcakes, cakes and treats . Drink some coffee. Enjoy the ambiance. WORTH THE DRIVE I am not sure what some of these folks are talking about when they refer to the "dry" or "very little taste". We ordered a Turtle cupcake, Piña Colada cupcake, as well as Cake Batter & Almond Sugar Cookie macarons. "DIVINE" is how I would describe each bite! every bite was better than the last! This place is a no for me. I was excited to have a local bakery and to be able to support a small business. The quality is just not there! I ordered a variety of things. The macarons shouldn't even be sold! They're hard, clumpy, very little taste, and they just are not the right consistency ($3 a piece). The pineapple upside down mini Bundt cake was nothing special. In fact, the cake was overdone and the pineapple under. The strawberry shortcake bowl seemed promising..it wasn't what it should be. I paid $8.50 for whip cream, strawberries, and the tiniest bit of cake. The prices are very unfair for the quality. Maybe it was because they're trying to keep up with the Mother's Day rush? Also, the employee helping me kept dropping products on the floor or counter. She wouldn't give them away, thank goodness, but it showed no care for the products sold. This was my 1st visit here. Overall, the items I purchased were okay. I ordered snickerdoodle cookies and triple chocolate chip cookies, caramel apple macaroons, and pecan pie bars! First the good the items were all reasonable priced, customer service was good, the snicker-doodles were good as were the caramel apple macaroons. Now, the not so good. Responses to questions aren't answered in a timely manner, the pecan pie bars the crust wasn't sweet. I just ate the topping. The triple chocolate chip cookies were huge, but also hard! By far the best thing about downtown Raeford for me! Everything my family has bought from Kayla has been lights out! The shop gets busy on event days downtown but it's a must if you can make it. This past thanksgiving I ordered a pumpkin pie and a cheesecake and can say they stole the show!! Friendly staff, gorgeous space, community oriented, and thats just the location.. don't even get me started on how FANTASTIC the food is. I have been going here for over a year now. I buy random monthly treats, I have gotten a personal cake, personal cheesecake, and Pie here. The quality is perfection. The detail in each treat is special. I have a huge sweet tooth and I'm always trying to find the best bakery in the area... This one is def up there! Their menu changes ask the time so every time you go it's like a new experience The macaroons are to die for. I'll give them a star for creativity but the execution wasn't there. First thing is: they have latex gloves. A lot of people have latex allergies and the fact that they're handling food with latex makes it not safe for those with a latex allergy. Personal opinion: latex gloves don't belong near food. That simple. I stopped in for their hocus pocus weekend. I had read the negative reviews on the cupcakes but figured I'd take a gamble. Not worth the 20 minute drive into Raeford nor the $8 spent for two cupcakes (caramel apple and Funfetti) and a cookie. The cookie is your basic chocolate chip and the cupcakes did in fact have some crunch to them like the reviews mentioned. I was hoping the caramel apple would be more like the caramel apple sucker that comes out during Halloween but it was a vanilla cupcake with an apple jelly core with caramel drizzle over green frosting. Like I said, creativity is there but execution is lacking. And unfortunately it doesn't matter what they look like if they don't taste good. read more

I just about tried everything on their menu and nothing is worth coming back for other than the cosmic brownie.
