I'm not sure why its called "Deli", there isn't fresh meats, cheeses, or foods sold here. Its…read moremore like a better looking 7-11 that also sells some premade sandwiches(common in Europe) and pastries. My 60kr/$8 cheese and meat(not sure exactly what animal) on multigrain bread was reasonably tasty for the price, and probably one of the cheapest eats in Oslo. (Note: At time of this review, the US dollar was up 50% against the Norway kroner...$1 = 7.5kr vs $1 = 5kr just a couple years ago)

The slices were not huge but pretty tasty. We like very thin crust so their pizzas were a plus. We ate at one of the counters. The place is pretty spartan but what did we expect for this price point. As advertised.

Wow! Great looking sandwiches in a convenient store!?
Customer care does not seem to be a policy at this store. I usually shop there because I work in…read morethe same building, and I am not only considering to stop going to this concrete store, but to stop buying at KIWI. Some of the employees at this location seem to be unhappy when applying the "durability warranty" they have (meaning if you find a product expiring that day or the day after, you get it for free). It happened today that while I was looking at meat, one of them came and almost shouted at me that I was not allowed to move packages. First of all, I like to take the one expiring the later possible (meaning it is the freshest one), so of course I look into expiring dates. Why does he have to assume I am looking for a free good? Also, I told him I was not able to properly understand Norwegian and he continued using this language, something I find really rude, as he is able to speak perfect English. He repeated the same thing three times, always in Norwegian.

They are quite good at getting rid of any rotten food, a kind of service you won't find at most grocery stores in Norway. I was about to buy a mango once that was overripe and the guy at the counter took me out to the mangos to show me which ones were the best to buy. He could have easily allowed me to buy one that wasn't the best quality, but instead he threw the mango out that I was about to buy and picked out probably the best mango I have ever had. The selection inside is always great. You can buy a lot of American products here (peanut butter, baked beans, maple syrup, salad dressings, etc.) The bread is always fresh and I love their massive selection of olives. The service here is terrific. Most recognize me and say hi when I pass by, even if I am not shopping there. They are a great part of the neighborhood and one of the many reasons I love living where I do.
