I went for a checkup on 2 molars I am thinking of extracting since no molars to meet on the bottom. Last year Dr. Digney extracted a molar and it went pretty well. I paid extra to be put out in twilight . Someone prior to him apparently missed that I had a cavity and the tooth could not be saved . This was the 1st time ever I had to have a tooth extracted other than the wisdom teeth and was more than happy with the results . I did not want any issues later in life but he said it barely moves and could possibly take many years 10 or more even that to have an issue . He did not recommend extraction unless I am feeling uncomfortable. I guess I'll check back next year but I do have insurance now and wanted to take a precaution . He is wonderful and said he would do it if that's what I wanted but would wait He works out of Kawa Orthodontics office which has a welcoming and soothing waiting area of the ocean and sea throughout the whole place. I believe this relaxes the patients especially kids who need to have braces etc. I would not go to any other oral surgeon . The only other great one was Dr Russo who did my wisdom but believe he is retired . read more

They do a good job on my oral surgery removing my wisdom teeth. I have 3 teeth removed. I was in network and they still demand that I pay out of pocket even tho the insurance cover 70 percent. I did the surgery anyway and paid like 1000 out of pocket. After the surgery I waited over 3 months for my dental to cover 2 of the teeth but the other tooth was not covered, so it went through my medical which they did. I called and the person that work at the billing department only work like tueday to Friday and she is extremely busy. I left a messages asking if they heard back from the insurance and they told me to call back when the person in charge isthere. I finally got a hold of her and was told that my insurance just send back the information and she will get back to me when a check for my difference will be mailed out. 2 weeks past and I got nothing in the mail. So I decided o call back and I was told that they try calling me and did not got a hold of me and left a message on my voicemail. I told her I never received any message. She then told me I need to file out a form that will be sent to my emai and to send it back to receive my money. I print the form and send it back . But on the form it says it can take up to 90 days to receive a check. This is rediculous. They took my 1000 dollars all at once the week before surgery but now I have to wait 90 days for a refund. My insurance company said since I was in network they should not have charged me upfront smh. I will not recommend them to anyone. Boy had things changed. 20 different technicians every visit countless doctors and not the same level of care or expertise. listen. my case is extremely rare so most of you might not relate to my personal problems with this establishment. however, this office does not deserve business when they are so utterly unprofessional. the fact of the matter is that the orthodontists at this office switch out so frequently if you have a case that takes more than 6 months you really aren't going to get good results. i'm missing my two front laterals, and throughout seven years all this office did was make my case worse because they didn't have the decency to tell me they didn't know what they were doing. i really don't mind paying for consults, but they referred to my case as extremely rare themselves and yet still decided to take it on, which has put me through physical and emotional duress. they conned us into that dumb "phase one" of braces (heads up: do not do this!!! if you still have baby teeth you do not need braces no matter what they tell you!!) and by the end the orthodontist had change. with each orthodontist, different ideas were recommended and we really didn't know what to do. after phase two, it was my mother who actually came up with the next step, something none of the actual people who work in orthodontics could do. and i needed a third set of braces because of the lack of thinking ahead on their part. throughout three phrases they never gave me rubber bands either, and my bite was never aligned which doesn't make any sense. i had my first oral surgery to both take out my wisdom teeth and to get my first implant. emphasis on the first, as dr. bland did my bone grafting and implant at the same time, to which no surprise led to a failed implant. i had to get a second surgery to take out the implant and get a new one, way deeper. this one also failed because it was crooked and way too close to my front tooth, which means now it is buried because my new oral surgeon couldn't even take it out it was put in so badly. dr. bland was replaced with dr. digney, and this man needs to be retired. he is so rude and he performed a minor surgery on my second implant, where he told me to "settle down, now" because i winced at the novacane injection and who admitted aloud to not having used a "knife this small in a while!" very unprofessional as well as nerve wracking as i was awake for this procedure. he also messed up my mouth even more, by cutting my papilla off and now i need further surgery to give me something i used to have. this office made everything worse for me; i literally cry every day when getting ready because i hate the way my mouth looks and i hate kawa orthodontics for making it look this way. i now pay out of pocket with an outstanding orthodontist/oral surgeon in atlanta, georgia, where they don't take insurance and require a 10 hour drive to get there. now i have gotten intense gum grafting, and am to endure braces for a fourth time to align my bite and also bring back a natural papilla, a root canal, two crowns, a bridge, and a veneer. kawa orthodontics has ruined my early life, wasted 8 years, thousands of dollars of money, and to sum up they're lucky i didn't sue, because i would've won. i could write so much more, but i'll end with this: DO. They tried to crop out one of my x-rays in order to charge my insurance and x-ray me one more time claiming the one I got from my original dentist was no good. I just got my braces off and I am really happy with the results. Dr. Barbosa did a great job and he took a good care of my teeth. It was a long journey, but it's totally worth it. I had a really complicated case so I was surprised to see how much it changed my smile and my face overall. My daughter, makes my blood boil to just think about it lol, decided to stop wearing her retainer after I paid lots of $$ to make her teeth beautiful. I noticed her front teeth started to move and become crooked. I didn't like her original orthodontist for several reasons. So, I asked my Dentist (who also happens to be my SO) who I should take her to. Without hesitation, he said Dr. Kawa. I was unsure if I would have to pay for braces again, but I reluctantly called to make an appointment. First, his staff was so helpful, kind, and down to earth when I called. Nancy, his manager, is a gem. She quickly made the appointment and calmed my nerves about having to do braces all over again. We get to the office and WOW! It is huge and absolutely beautiful. Phase one of both of my children's braces went fairly well except that the bracket on my oldest son's braces kept breaking. Just started phase two and we were not home an hour when my youngest son's wire broke off. Went back and a different tech repaired it and had to undo what the other tech had done because it was put on improperly causing it to hurt and break. She had to move one of his teeth which was very painful for him. The office did not set up my payment properly and will not correct it unless I physically go in to the office which is 20-30 minutes from where I live. Very expensive, not sure they know what they are doing after this last experience. Would not recommend but we started with them and not sure where to go at this point. read more

I came here for not one but TWO wisdom teeth surgeries. I accompanied my sister and my boyfriend after their surgeries and each time I came the staff was the same. The front receptionists are very rude! Firstly, they we not following the CDC guidelines during my first visit and the office was cramped. My second time around they had the office organized better during this time. The staff here has no customer service when it comes to acknowledging their guests. However, there was one young black woman who came and greeted me the second time around and she made the overall experience much better and answered any of my questions. Very disappointed in the service here. I got my braces off almost a year ago and apart of my treatment plan is to get crowns afterwards. I was told by several of the dental assistants here that I should not go immediately for my crowns because my gums were swollen. So I waited and it was finally time to put my crowns in. So I call back to set an appointment for my retainers and the reception let's me know it will be $250 for the retainers because I did not do it in a 3 month time frame! If I would have know by somebody, anybody I would have done it in a more timely manner! The doctor did not see me once after I got my braces off, no one has called me to informed me about my retainers. I was completely left in the dark. I'm very upset with this place, I paid almost 6 k for braces they told me one year.. I'm heading into my 2 1/2 year mark and my braces constantly break... the worst part is I work and the only times I can get in for emergency is when their entire office goes on a lunch break, and they tell you sorry it's lunch time.... for the amount we pay there should be better service as I had a wire stuck into my mouth and they said SORRYY it's lunch time so I had to wait an entire workday and night before I could get helped in pain.. the old lady with short brown hair an glasses in the meanest nastiest lady I've ever encountered and does not even try to help you out, it's straight nasty attitude and mean mug, I even leave messages for a on call ortho to help me out and they don't even call me back!! I have been a patient of this office since 2010 when I decided to get braces. Shortly thereafter, I had two wisdom teeth removed by Dr Broumand. He was amazing as well as not bad on the eyes :). Anthony works in the oral surgery area and his professionalism and caring attitude helped with my nerves. My daughter also had 4 wisdom teeth removed there. She was impossible! My experience here was both good and bad - bad outweighing the good. One word to describe this place- a factory. Dr. Kawa's a pretty smart businessman, but if only he'd concentrate on quality rather than quantity. The positive? I came here for braces, initially, and was talked into getting Invisalign. They sold me on the fact that if at any point I was unhappy with my Invisalign treatment, they'd put regular braces on me. Appx 3+ years later, I was still doing Invisalign & in order to continue, I'd be charged $250, so I took them up on their offer and got regular braces. Their saltwater fishtanks are pretty neat. They help ease the pain of sometimes having to wait 15-30 minutes past your appointment time. The negative? There's a huge communication gap between the receptionists, the techs, and the doctors. It's impossible to get in touch with your doc. I had an "emergency" with my invisalign, but the receptionist said the next open appointment available for my "type" of service was about a week from when I called, so I took it (not knowing any better). By the time my appointment came, my teeth had shifted and I needed a refinement done for which they said I "may need" to pay $250. Had the receptionist took the time to consult with my doctor, they would've squeezed me in to take care of the issue prior to my teeth shifting. I expressed my aggrevation to a co-worker who took her son here by my recommendation, and she mentioned it while discussing her displeasure with the practice to Dr. Kawa- I received a phone call from him concerning my displeasure which was nice, but it was a situation that could've been easily avoided. At my latest follow-up, the doctor (not my usual doc) barely checked my teeth/retainers which was the purpose of the visit. I asked if my retainers could be switched to a different kind because of comfort issues, and she said I'd have to wait for my regular ortho to return. The tech ASSURED me I'd receive a phone call upon his return (I even watched her write down my name/number on a piece of paper) but it's been at least a month and- SURPRISE- no phone call. I could call the office and try getting in touch with him but I'd rather save myself the stress of a) trying to get in touch with him and b) having to go back there. You'll rarely get in at your actual appointment time. They have so many patients stuffed into their schedule that you'll almost always have to wait- often times longer than it takes for them to do whatever it is they need to do with you. Upon checking out, if you have to schedule a future appointment, you'll stand in front of the receptionist station awkwardly waiting for one of them to look up and recognize that you're there. I can think of one receptioniste who is nice both in person and on the phone, but I've encountered others -on the phone- who need a bit of an attitude adjustment. Seems like this place has a high turnover for orthodontists. I originally came here for a particular doctor, but she left the practice not long after, and I can only imagine why. All in all, the numerous televisions, video games, fish tanks etc. are quite fancy and quite impressive, but not to an adult who knows what's really important when going to an orthodontist (or any place for that matter)- consistently, good service. This place was recommended to me by a close friend and I'd curse her everytime I had an issue with them. If you've seen Shrek 2 you'll know what I'm talking about. This place reminds me of fairy godmother's potion factory except its a braces factory where they pump out braces after braces. I was looking into getting braces for my son since he has replaced most of his baby teeth. The facility is really nice with lots of fish tanks with really interesting fishes and corals. You're systematically moved from one place to another getting x-rayed, examined and quoted by a sales person. I felt like I was at a used car dealership with a pushy sales rep really trying to sell me the braces. It really made me feel like she was working for commission and she was disappointed/annoyed that I didn't make an appointment right then and there. Really trying to sell me til the end making it seem like I was refusing treatment for a kid with a serious medical condition. They're just braces and people wear them at any age. The doctor came in for 5 minutes and he was really nice though. The quote she gave me didn't even matter because the letter I received a few days later was talking about a whole different type of treatment than what she quoted me so I never found out which treatment plan was actually needed or how much it was going to cost. As an adult, I made the horrific decision to start my treatment with Dr. Kawa. Please do not go there, this is like a factory and they do not care about the patient! It has been about 18 months since I started and now I have more problems with my teeth than when I started. First of all, Dr. Kawa makes the initial consultation, and after that you will never see him again. Instead, you are assigned a Doctor, which in my case I never met. The treatment is done by the assistants and then verified by a different doctor each time. This is a big problem as there is no doctor who can follow up on your treatment; they only read the past notes from the screen and make decisions from there. No plan is made from the beginning. In my case, I started noticing that my front teeth were shifting up and my molars were shifting to the side. This made me have an overbite which I didn't have before. When mentioned to the doctor, he said it was normal due to the re-positioning of my teeth in order to fix the midline. After six months of me complaining, every time the shifting was worst, I decided to consult Dr. Kawa, the "expert", and demand a plan to follow. Dr. Kawa was not concerned with my situation and made fun of my questions of why this was happening. He insisted I always had this problem, in which the initial pictures and x-rays show this is not true, and said "there is nothing we can do". After insisting on this problem, my assigned doctor came up with a plan to fix the problem they caused, and it will take an additional 1 1/2 to 2 years to get it fixed, and it is not guaranteed it will work! Now, my front teeth are so up that I can't close my mouth all the way and the side upper molars don't touch the lower molars. I am getting a second opinion with another orthodontist now to see what can be done because I don't trust Larry Kawa and Associates. I AM WARNING YOU! read more

It's taken me a while to write this review because I've been so terribly traumatized. I was referred to Dr. Kawa by a dentist and boy did I make a bad decision. First, at the initial consultation you do meet Dr. Kawa, the man, the owner, the face of the business and why people sign their teeth away. Let me be clear, Dr. Kawa is a nice man PERIOD. THE PROBLEM IS YOU DON'T GET TO SEE DR. KAWA (unless requested); the Dr.'s you end up seeing are 1/3 qualified, online dentist school earning degree, unprofessional, mean and nasty, so call orthodontist (I checked their website and it seems my nightmare ortho is no longer there, I'm not 100 percent sure though, maybe they're just not listing him). They have more turnovers than a burger on a grill. Every few months they have a new line of doctors, I wonder why. I spent about 3 years visiting Dr. Kawa's office and it was three years of hell and torture. THE PAIN, THE PAIN, THE PAIN.. words can't describe how much pain they put me through. They placed an expander in my mouth (top teeth) and shouldn't have because of my age, my teeth over expanded, thankfully it was adjusted so I no longer have a Gator mouth. The staff are not pleasant, I had to report/complain about employees being rude and nasty. I mean downright nasty. You mean to tell me, I'm paying you THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to mess my teeth up, have me out here with a Gator mouth, and on top of that I have to deal with ish from your employees - it was too much to take. BTW the word on the streets in Boca Raton and elsewhere is out about this practice. I visited a really good orthodontist for my daughter (did my research) and he said he heard about what Dr. Kawa's office was doing to patients and the poor treatment and service. He said to me "I'm glad you made it out Ohk." Yes, this was said to me by a fellow orthodontist in the same area. Anyway, like I said, this has taken me a while to write. It's been almost two years since I got my braces and today they came off, which is why I'm finally writing this review. I know some people feel like this place is a factory, but I had a really good experience here. It's pretty efficient, and the doctors really seem to know their stuff. But most importantly, my teeth look awesome! I had adult orthodontia, and the majority of patients are kids and teens, but I never felt uncomfortable going here and I don't regret it one bit! Back one last time for my retainers in a couple of days! read more
