Gorgeous views of the winery you can enjoy from a variety of seating options. There were food options but we just enjoyed their delicious wine. The Strum was not my favorite from our trip but the Rose and Verliner were wonderful! This was a great place to enjoy the sunset and we didn't have to worry about our 2 year old running around or our 2 month old crying.

The ride took about 20 minutes and was much easier than trying to figure out public transportation. It was well worth the time and cost. Mayer am Nussberg is situated on a hill overlooking Vienna. It's a beautiful location and the perfect place to spend an evening. There are picnic tables and folding chairs facing the vineyard and the setting sun. It seems to be a favorite haunt for locals, as we saw many folks arriving on foot with kids and dogs in tow. The staff were very nice and helpful with our lack of German language skills. They helped us pick several different wines to taste and tried to explain each in pretty good English. We stayed until dark and took an Uber back to the city. It was a wonderful evening of awesome views, great wine and even some tasty food.

I'm aware that Yelp is less popular in this area, so when the most-reviewed places nearby were all booked for the night, I was starting to lose hope. Then my dad looked up from my phone screen and pointed this place out, and we were very much in luck, as they seated us almost immediately as one of their last of the night. We had gotten into a habit of ordering beer with essentially every meal on this trip, so without hesitation, we did so here. It occurred to me later that this was a wine bar and that we should have tried some Austrian wine, but the beer was as good as we expected. I reviewed the specials menu and my eyes immediately landed on the pumpkin cream soup, and yes I am a basic white girl from California so I do order a lot of pumpkin around fall (and this was back in fall, whoops). It was a soup that was elevated by the ingredients not being overly processed, and hit the spot on this slightly chilly September night. I had also started to grow tired of having meat, bread, and cheese everywhere we went, so I decided on another special for my entree: the linguine with crayfish. I have to admit that it doesn't appear to be that appetizing, and if you are uncultured like me you may be wondering "how is this dish Austrian," but despite those things it was surprisingly delicious. We finished up with an apple strudel, which really hit the spot. Flaky and warm, and complemented by a scoop of vanilla ice cream, was the perfect way to end this long day of touring. The service was polite and attentive as well, which as Americans we really appreciated, especially because we started dinner quite late. It was also super cute and charming, even sitting outside at night, because of the quieter side streets here and the string lights that illuminated the walkway.

Every dish was delicious and presentation superb. The restaurant is small and the interior is very cozy - the service is wonderful. Out of 8 days we spent in Vienna and numerous restaurants we tried, Wein in the City was by far the best - every other place paled in comparison. We ended up coming back 2 more times and trying other dishes all of which were simply delicious. I would highly recommend this place, I know I will certainly visit it again some day. Favorite dishes are: deer stew, veal cheeks stew, beef tartar, dumplings with char caviar. In general you can't go wrong with whatever you order.

This heuriger was so accessible to the central parts of Vienna--it was only one transfer us via tram and a short 30 minute ride and a ten minute walk from the stop. I love the history attached with the winery--Beethoven supposedly was living here when he wrote his 9th symphony. The food was fantastic particularly the side dishes--roasted potatoes, sauerkraut like I haven't had before, pickled peppers with cream cheese, roasted vegetables. The bread as in Austria was wonderful as well. The meats were good as well and particularly liked the schnitzel. The wine was really good, we were a bit worried with it being young wine but enjoyed it especially with soda water. Our 17 year old enjoyed being legal in Austria and partook of it a bit too generously :). The interior was clean and comfortable with its traditional wooden tables and benches. I absolutely loved every thing we tried and took a few home just in case we can't purchase them near us. While we sipped, we were able to spend some time in the art gallery upstairs. TOUR We were immediately greeted upon entering and checked in. We booked a self guided which worked really well. You are given an audio device which narrates each location with the click of a button, allowing us to look around at our own pace, including having the option to skip over areas we were less interested in hearing about.
