Even when I was a very young person brining barns cats in to vetted, there was always professionalism and respect. Recently, my dog was diagnosed with cancer and decisions about end of life care had to be made. In a terrible situation, Dr. Hageman & Tami were compassionate PEOPLE and treated my family, myself and my sweet doggy better than I could have ever hoped for.

On a recommendation from the Purdue University VTH, I called to ask some basic questions about the clinic, policies and pricing. Speaking with a person named Lisa, I am not sure if she is receptionist or CVT, all of my questions were answered in full and we set up a hospital admission time for the surgery. Lisa took extra care to send me the necessary paperwork that clarified the pricing options. On the appointment day I drove down the Lafayette and took the cat to her appointment. Check in was easy and timely. We nervously waited (all pet parents are nervous when a beloved pet is under the knife) to hear from the clinic. They actually called an hour earlier than the original designated time so we hustled over to pick up the beloved cat. Check out was painless. No add-ons or surprise fees. Amazing! I was disappointed that we never did met with a veterinarian, neither before nor after the surgery. It has been a week since her spay and she is happy, healthy and behaving as if nothing happened. It is a 3 hour drive for me to be a client at this clinic, but for our situation, it's worth the trip.

I cannot tell you how frustrated I am with this place! I have been going there for 6 years now!…read moreSince my little tea cup Maltese was born! I moved to Chicago 4 years ago and literally was driving back and forth to this place for my little Lulu! That is how much I believed in them! Well until Dr. Amanda worked there anyways. Couple of years ago, Dr. Heather Baker (the worst vet on Earth who needs to resign from her duties) took lulu to neuter him! Well you won't believe what happened instead! She neutered him partially! I mean your one job that day is to neuter a dog! Where you doing your nails? Watching a video? Fighting with your husband or staff?? What on earth where you doing that you only removed one of his testicles??? Yes you heard that right. I did not COMPLAIN not one word! I did not ask for one single thing! Not even to be compensated! All you offered back then was to do it AGAIN for free. Lulu is below 6 pounds so imagine what that meant for him and me to be put under anesthesia AGAIN! It killed me, and put him under a lot of stress! Maybe that even caused his heart disease! All that stress! But again, I did not say A WORD back then! Quite the opposite! I said: no problem! It can happen! But let's be honest! Can it?? Anyways it is April 9, 2020 and the Coronavirus Pandemic is happening. Meaning stay at home orders have been issued and no one can go anywhere. Lulu's flee medicine has been all used up (he uses revolution) so I called to get new ones. They said he needs to do a heartworm test before giving him new ones, and I said I understand! But as that could not happen due to the stay at home order she told me to come get chewables instead the next moRning. My husband and I went down to Lafayette that same night and stayed with his parents who live there. The next day scott my husband went to their main clinic which is located on a beautiful farm in Lafayette. He picked them up and brought them home only for me to find them EXPIRED! They had expired on January 1!!!! Are they trying to kill my dog who is prone to getting flees and has a heart disease and a heart murmur???like for real?? They charged him $50 for three tablets and only gave two on top of that!!! Unbelievable!! I am so mad and frustrated! No wonder Dr.Amanda left that place!! I called them left a voice mail Right now, and am requesting not only my money back but might also look into legal matters. This is becoming dangerous! Not sure how they are allowed to operate anymore! But I will get to the bottom of that.

Our Toy Fox Terrier is VERY difficult to trim her nails as she hates her feet touched as she was a rescue from a backyard breeder who pulled her toes off and bred the mother with the grandfather which left our girl, Monkee, quite inbred so she has tons of health issues. The fact that the girls there were treating Monkee like royalty despite how raggedy she looked and how smelly her breath is (she had to get some teeth pulled due to two abscessed molars). They got her nails trimmed within less than 7 minutes!? That alone was a miracle! Every time we remotely even went near Monkee's feet, she'd nip/bite and throw a fit. I'm so thankful I found them

I was surprised to see so many other cars in the parking lot. There was another family dropping off donations, and a family who was picking-up a new member of their family, a well cared for dog. There were also three teens who were cleaning the cat kennels in a separate room. The main room is open where there is a couch, fireplace, laundry room and office with cat kennels and four large, dog kennels surrounding the room. The animals all looked relaxed - the small to medium size dogs were excited, the kittens were play fighting and adult cats were either sleeping or chilling. There was also another room that housed 8 large dogs, and they all had a nice, cozy place to sleep, plenty of room to walk around and fresh food and water. On each cage, there were notes about the dogs, like "hard toys only", "keep in kennel, jumped over cage", etc. The third room housed more cats. It was small, and the smell was a bit over-powering, but the teens were busy cleaning each cage. The cats looked content and cared for. The entire facility is clean and well maintained. There are also kennels outside with tarps covering the tops to protect the dogs from sun and rain when they are let outside while their kennels are being cleaned. From the extra blankets, netting, fencing and wood boards, the care-givers have gone out of their way to keep the dogs from being able to escape or take nips at each other which I image happens when dogs get bored or playful. They all had several toys in their kennels too, as did all the cats. The volunteers at the shelter are very friendly, the board member present gave us a tour, answered all our questions, allowed us to wander the facility freely, and let us adore the animals at our leisure. I admired their system for organizing the food by expiration dates and mixing them to prevent the dogs from getting used to one and getting sick, if introduced to something different. They also have a system for letting the cats out of their cages to play and enjoy the room either during the day or night. From the amount of good sized kennels, towels, blankets, litter boxes, cat beds, toys and food, the community does its part in chipping in to keep this place going strong. They have a website and facebook profile. The VP on the board who was there that day was very gracious, welcoming, extremely nice and personable and could not thank us enough for our donations. It was also nice to learn that the members of the board are experienced animal rescuers and professionals in the community. We look forwards to working with them in the future.

The ashes were available efficiently and it was a nice surprise that they wrote me a note including that they donated to Purdue in memory of my pet. The only con was that when I went in to drop my pet off, the older lady working there had no clue what she was doing. She knew she didn't know what she was doing and she said this and apologized multiple times. I hope this lady was a fill-in and not a regular. She kept referring to my pet as "it". How much does "it" weigh? I understand it's just a body at that point but as the pet owner, that's not how we feel. Please say "how much does your pet weigh?" Or use the pet's name. Also, when the older lady called to tell us the ashes were ready, she said "Hi, I'm from Pets Removed......I mean, Pets Remembered." Seriously?!? My spouse and I laughed about this later so it provided some laughter to an otherwise sad situation. But I would not have this lady do client facing work. I also wish I had a paw print made. This is not really Pets Remembered's fault. But I didn't know it was an option until the day I took my pet in to drop them off. I guess I wish it had been mentioned over the phone so I would have had some time to think about whether I wanted it or not. I did not like having to decide on the spot with the lady who had no clue about anything. And as a result of this I feel like I made the wrong decision. There was a man working there too and he seemed more knowledgeable.
