I worked with Spitz, The Employee's Law Firm and my experience was extremely disappointing…read more From the beginning, I made it clear that when we discussed settlement amounts, I was focused on what would actually hit my bank account. That expectation was brought up multiple times, and I relied on my attorney to either structure things accordingly or clearly explain any differences. Based on those conversations, I moved forward expecting a settlement that would meet a minimum take-home amount. Instead, after everything was finalized, I received only about 80% of what I believed I would be getting. I am not a lawyer, so I depended on clear communication and a proper explanation of how the settlement would be structured. That did not happen. The impact of taxes and how they would reduce the actual amount I received was not clearly explained to me beforehand. When I raised the issue afterward, I was told directly that the owner "does not fix issues like this," and that nothing would be done to make up the difference, even though this situation could have been avoided with proper communication. At that point, it became clear to me that once the case was closed, there was no interest in taking responsibility or making things right. The difference may not seem significant from a firm perspective, but it would have made a meaningful impact for me while I was actively trying to secure new employment. That made the refusal to address it even more frustrating. I trusted this firm to represent me and guide me through a process I am not trained in. Instead, I was left with significantly less than I expected and no meaningful effort to address it. Based on my experience, I would avoid this firm.

And of course there is a reception desk right as you exit the elevator on GPD's floor- immediately greeted. Each department has their own respective area. There isn't a specialty they don't touch on. The event was complete with an amazing mimosa + make your own Bloody Mary bar, table full of brunch bites & great conversation amongst team members & guests. Mr. Callahan was the third and final lawyer I contacted, but I wish he was the first. I will summarize my interactions with all 3, so you can see the difference in opinions. The first lawyer I contacted was by sheer mistake. A family member of a friend had been injured in a car accident, and had legal representation. My friend had given me the wrong name of the lawyer who represented their relative. I called that lawyer, M.W. who owns a firm in Cleveland. On the phone, he seemed nice, but he did seem to try to "bend the rules" a little so to speak, to maximize a claim, and he really tried to pressure me to get my family to come in and sign a contract. He actually called me literally 6-7 times in 1 day (I lost count after the 5th call), and, without me giving my home address to him, he had looked up my address online, and sent a letter and his info packet. Needless to say, I was very unimpressed. The second law firm, owned by H.S., in Cleveland, represented my friends family. I could tell by the questions that they asked in the initial telephone consultation that it seems as if they do take any case, just like the first lawyer I contacted above said "...I have a case", and they also wanted me to sign a contract ASAP. Also, their paralegal and firm seemed quite disorganized as well, judging from their email correspondences to me. And finally, the reason why I am doing this review, the last lawyer I contacted was Michael W. Callahan. Michael quickly and with courtesy returned my phone call, for the telephone consultation. He asked important questions regarding the accident, and I actually understood his thought process. He explained many aspects about accidents and the legal process, as opposed to the above 2 law firms. He showed concern for what happened in the accident, and how it correlates with a legal sense, while not trying to pressure me into signing a contract. He actually gave sound legal advice, and basically told me to do the exact opposite of the first 2 lawyers I spoke about above. He will not mislead you to get you to sign a contract. He will honestly tell you if you have a case or not, and will not waste your time stringing you along like other lawyers, especially the first 2 I contacted. It shows that he wasn't just trying to make money off the case, and in a situation when a loved one is hurt, that is what you need. Needless to say, and without getting into specifics, I took his advice. In the unfortunate circumstance where one happens to be injured from an accident, I would highly recommend Michael W. On that day, I was in a serious car accident and broke my back. The pain in my back got to the point I needed surgery in order to walk again. Because of the accident and surgery, I missed a lot of work and had a pile of medical bills to pay (the person who hit us had no insurance). I figured I had no place to turn. After the surgery and getting back on my two feet, the hard part started. I am looking at weekly physical therapy for the rest of my life in order to maintain myself. Trying to deal with insurance companies on my own was almost as painful as the pain in my back. On a great recommendation, I contacted Jordan Lebovitz of Nurenberg-Paris Heller & McCarthy Injury Law.
