"You're the real thing Even better than the real thing"…read more(U2) (Not a review of the church. This is a review of their Polish Food Sale) Does Polish food get anymore "real" than Polish food bought at a Polish Food Sale held at a Polish Church? Nie, it doesn't. The sale runs just two days- Saturday January 14 and Saturday Jan 28 from 9am to 12pm. What's on the menu board? Let's start with three kinds of handmade pierogis - potato & cheese, cabbage & kielbasa, sauerkraut & mushrooms. All of them are $12 per dozen. Next up is a personal favorite - Golabki (stuffed cabbage rolls) - $14 per tray (4-5 pcs). A big selection of homemade Polish soups - $10 per 32oz. Traditional Kielbasa & Easter White Kielbasa - $8 per pack, Bigos (Polish Hunter's Stew) - $14 per 32oz., Pierniki (Chocolate covered Ginger bread) - $5, and horseradish, Polish drinks, and natural Polish Honeys - $12 per jar. We bought a tray of potato and cheese pierogis, a tray of stuffed cabbage, a container of the cauliflower soup, and a bag of the Piernikis for $41. The ordering process and crowd flow was super easy. There were two lines- one for the on-line pre-orders and one for the walk ins. The priest at the walk in line was very friendly, input our order onto a receipt (which he stapled to a paper bag and handed over to another worker), and we paid him through a credit card machine. The lady who got our paper bag went to the freezer and took out our appropriate pierogis, stuffed cabbage and soup and handed us a bag of the chocolate ginger bread. Everything was homemade so I have a feeling they will be out of this world. The only glitch we ran into was last night when we tried to preorder on their website, Everthing went fine until we hit the payment screen which was grayed out and we couldn't figure out if we had missed a step or what was wrong. Probably more of an operator error than a web design error. :)

Admission at the Peace Pagoda is free and I believe it is open until dusk…read more After parking, there is a decent little hike to get to the grounds. The path is not paved and is not stroller friendly so keep that in mind if you have young kids or mobility concerns. For handicapped individuals, you can carefully drive all the way up to the temple. There is no official parking there but there is room to park. Once you arrive, you'll find a Buddhist peace pagoda, a temple, a pond, a zen garden, and other peaceful areas to explore. The pagoda was built in 1985 and expanded over the years. You can spend 20 minutes here or hours depending on your state of mind. I've been coming here for over 20 years and it's still one of my favorite places to slow down. The koi pond with the lily pads and frogs is always a highlight. I brought my 6 year old son and he was in awe of the temple, the monk drumming, and the quiet nature of the area. He kept talking about it afterward and said it was one of his favorite places he has been to in a while. The pond area almost has a maze like quality to it and the trees behind the grounds feel like a forest waiting to be explored so he especially loved exploring the grounds. Visitors can go inside the temple but keep in mind there are prayer times and other events happening. This is an active spiritual place so people should be quiet and respectful while visiting. There is no food available and I am not sure about public bathrooms. Expect little to no cell service, not just here but in Leverett in general.

The atmosphere around the compound, shrines, and ponds is one of complete serenity. Prayer ceremonies take place in the early morning, and the evening. It was great learning that there was this lovely Buddhist temple located in the area that we were traveling.
