Mrs Patrick dismissed my case intending to refile and did it WRONG. The opposing attorney told her TWICE that she was doing it the wrong way. As a result my entire case was dismissed. I had to allow her to fix her mistake . The NC bar has already agreed she did indeed mess up. She lost the appeal and Rule of 60 (do-over) cases. As a result...I got nothing- no child support, alimony OR retirement. She has the least amt of liability insurance an attorney can get (100k) and NOTHING is in her name. I paid her over 50K- she had to do an appeal and rule of 60 for free. She now has several attorneys representing her, and their attorney fees are paid by liability insurance. She refused to settle or discuss a settlement. I never felt she had my back, intentionally put things off, and was a terrible advisor. We never had a meeting before mediation, she was never prepared, and always seemed lost when appearing in court, and was dominated by the opposing attorney. I do not recommend using her !

I found Scott to be extremely knowledgeable and experienced. When the ex came back looking for more (the first time,) he dismissed her demands and she went away. Now that she has come back (the second time,) he is helping me fight back hard and put an end to this nonsense. The fact that she has come back twice is a good indication that Scott's original counsel prevented the other side from getting their way. I am not sure about the earlier review, but Scott has always been very responsive and has returned my phone calls promptly. He would even fit me in between his court appearances. Scott was my second attorney during this divorce. The first one "nickeled and dimed" me for every minute but never truly answered my questions. Scott has been more than fair in terms of his fees and did not charge me to read every text or answer every call. He always provided answers to my questions and would elaborate and expand upon them and offer additional strategies. From the very beginning, his behavior demonstrated a clear and undeniable bias in favor of my ex, to the point that multiple decisions he made had to be brought before the judge and ultimately reversed because he overstepped the scope of his authority. Rather than acting as a neutral professional focused on improving communication and helping both parties work toward healthier coparenting, he consistently approached every situation with hostility, condescension, and apparent preconceived judgment toward me. His communication style was often rude, dismissive, and accusatory, regardless of the facts or context presented. What was most concerning was the complete lack of objectivity. Despite extensive written communication clearly showing that I was making repeated efforts to de-escalate conflict, cooperate, and improve the coparenting relationship, those efforts were routinely ignored or minimized. Meanwhile, my ex's communications frequently contained unnecessary nitpicking, antagonistic behavior, and attempts to manufacture conflict out of minor issues, yet those actions were never acknowledged or addressed fairly. A parent coordinator is supposed to help reduce tension and encourage productive coparenting. Instead, this process became another source of conflict because of the obvious imbalance in treatment and repeated overreach. When a neutral professional inserts personal bias into already difficult family dynamics, it can create significant emotional and financial harm for everyone involved -- especially the children. I understand that not every recommendation or decision will favor both parties equally, but neutrality, professionalism, and respect are the minimum standards expected in this role. Unfortunately, those standards were not met in my experience.

In fact, he knew what a mess I was going through. He didn't care and let other attorney draft the final papers and said, "this is the best you'll get." Well, when a business was sold later I got the rotten end of the deal because Mr. Tharrington let it be written that the proceeds to me be alimony. Therefore, the IRS received $60,000 they did not deserve which should have gone in my bank. I believe if it had not been written as such, the law states that I would have paid no taxes on sale of business in divorce.
