Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was quite simple, but very good with enough variety of cheese and meat. The staff is very nice. Free private parking is a plus. Our room was in the corner of the building facing the church next door. The church bell rang all night long...if you're a light sleeper, you might have some problem sleeping through the night...Short drive to Interlaken, Beatenberg, and Thurnersee. The b&b is located about a 10 minute walk from the Murren train station. Additionally, there is a Coop grocery store right across the street, which was super convenient! The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable! There is a sink in the room, which is nice, and shared bathrooms outside. The bathrooms, room, and dining area were all exceptionally clean. Lastly, the view from the room is just surreal! Then there is Denise, the lovely owner of the b&b. Denise was fluent in English (originally from England) which made communications a breeze. She set up an absolutely beautiful complimentary breakfast each morning with fresh baked bread, cheese, hard boiled eggs and other pastries/fruit. She is also extremely knowledgeable regarding the area and recommended an absolutely gorgeous hike for us to do on our first day that I didn't come across in my research I did beforehand. She also recommended that we take the opportunity to hike down from the Schilthorn back to Murren, and we were so so glad we did. Overall, the b&b itself was already exceptional, but Denise really put it over the top and helped us take full advantage of the few days we spent in Murren. I can't recommend this place enough!

Yes the window also looks out on the main road in Murren (pop. 448), but with no auto traffic, who cares?!? Besides, after hiking around for a few hours at that elevation you'll sleep like a baby anyway. Lodging in Switzerland isn't cheap, but Fontana is at least reasonable, and if you play your cards right Denise has a semi-hidden jar of peanut butter to liven up your already hearty breakfast. From here you can explore the entire town in a few minutes. The bathrooms aren't en suite, and there was one woman from ... hmmm ..whom I saw on two or three occasions, in flagrante delicto. Ahhhh, the Alps!

This is a fantastic base for a 3 or 4 day hiking stay. If you're downstairs with the kitchenette, get your food from the grocery in Murren, a short cable ride up and a pleasant walk down. I feel like I am at home. I mean the feeling of warm that was touching my heart when I was there. And I wish one day I could own a special accommodation like this or at least come back here again. To day, it is 14 June 1018. I have a plan to travel to Switzerland again. Of course I need to book this place. Unfortunately, it's been closed forever. I don't know the reason. I picked it based on location...we were spending a few days hiking in the swiss alps...and based on reviews. After we checked in, I was very confused...how on earth could this place have such awesome reviews...then I realized they were all written by foreigners. For starters its kinda off the beaten path in Interlaken, you can walk to the main area, but it's not a very nice walk, I'm glad we had a car. Then there were the rooms...oooooh man were they in MUCH needed renovation, and we paid extra for the private bathroom, yeah it was a make shift bathroom in the middle of the room and it didn't smell right. It was incredibly loud at night as the walls are paper thin. The breakfast was ok, your typical European spread, nothing spectacular. If we return to the area I will definitely look for a place in the alps such as Gimmelwald and stay far away from the B&B's in Interlaken. The only reason I have it 2 stars is again for the incredibly nice owners who were super informative and helpful, if it wasn't for them we would have checked out right away.
