I really wish it was closer, because I looked at the schedule of exercise classes and wow there are a lot. They are at all hours and all different types. It's phenomenal. The day I went there was some sort of coffee happy hour happening with coffee and food. It really looks like they're trying to build a community here, which is great. The woman working the front desk was so friendly. They have locker rooms that have keypads on the locks, which made them really easy to use. The towels are great and they have blow dryers, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, the standard stuff. At 5:30 p.m. on a Monday it wasn't crowded at all. The gym is on the smaller side, it wraps around the indoor track/basketball court, but for the amount of people there it doesn't seem small at all. I walked on a treadmill and used the free weights. I passed by the cafe, which had a small but mighty looking menu. I would definitely stop by and grab a bite here. I've also attended a gala and a conference here before and I found them both well done. There's tons of parking, with a guard (only one entrance off of Howard).

Every day…read moremembers of this community center sit on the workout machines and conduct private conversations with other members or waste time on their mobile devices not working out on the machines while sitting on the machines or benches, preventing other members from being able to use the machines. Additionally, if you want to hear lots of private conversations via mobile phone, you will have the opportunity to listen to rude members of this community center talk on their phones in the gym. Even though there are signs everywhere, asking members not to conduct private phone conversations on their mobile device. It is very frustrating that I pay for a membership when I cannot use the facilities due to rude people sitting on workout machines or benches while they surf the Internet on their phones or have phone conversations while not using the machines they are sitting on, preventing other members from being able to use the weightlifting machines. Additionally, the staff of the community center does nothing to prevent this from happening.

I attend weekly prenatal yoga class with Rachel from Sattva yoga (who teaches class out of the kindness of her heart) and it has helped me manage my pregnancy pains. The lactation consultant Jen teaches a fantastic class, which I highly recommend. Plus, we hired our doula Brandi through Barefoot Birth, who is so knowledgeable and helpful to us. So glad to have such a great resource in Tampa.

They're extremely efficient and probably deserve more stars for the staff, but it doesn't feel right to be a fan of Covid testing, so three stars it is. The line is extremely long in the mornings but really dies down in the afternoon, so arrive after the rush if possible. There's a small parking lot in front of the main building and more parking across the street in the larger lot. Pre-register at the county site or scan the QR code when you arrive to register on site. You'll need your driver's license if you don't register. Masks are obviously required. Lower just below your nose, keeping your mouth covered to protect staff while collecting samples. Good luck.

Layla's House is a community-based learning center located in Sulphur Springs. They provide…read morelearning opportunities and resources for parents of preschool aged children as well as expectant mothers. Some of these learning opportunities include: groups for expectant and new parents, child birth classes, a new moms' club, breastfeeding support, developmental playgroups, STEAM playgroups and a nurturing dads workshop. This summer, for the first time, Layla's House partnered with HCPLC to offer summer programs around the theme of space. My two year old, six year old and myself wound up at Layla's House twice and I was blown away by their hospitality. Layla's House is divided into multiple rooms of varying sizes. Some are small and intimate others are much bigger. One classroom we were in contained numerous tables and chairs. When a larger amount of kids showed up than expected, they were able to provide additional chairs. Another classroom was carpeted and wide open. This was the perfect place for an assembly or magic show. Outside, Layla's House has a fenced in playground that works for kids of multiple ages. There are slides, climbing apparatuses and pretend play items. At one of the events the people who run Layla's House ushered us out to the playground after the show was over. There the Kona Ice truck was waiting. All kids, and adults who wanted one, were provided a Kona ice courtesy of Layla's House. My kids left that event super happy. Basically, if you are a parent of a preschooler and live in the Sulfur Springs area, check out Layla's House calendar of events. You won't be disappointed.

They offered a wealth of knowledge to me and other moms from every walk of life. The class was very informative and we even had a chance to do our own Q&A with an OB/GYN doctor during one of our classes. Many of, if not all, of their classes are 100% free and are such a great resource to the community. The staff at Layla's made it a great class to come to and they provided the perfect space for us to grow in community with each other and to grow in knowledge. I would 100% recommend Layla's house!
