A beautiful forest surrounds the hotel, which sits in a little meadow along a stream. A few minutes' walk will get you to the beach, where you can walk along the sand.
I found the staff to be extremely welcoming and kind, and ready to do anything they can to make your stay more enjoyable. They speak many languages, including English, Swedish, and German. I borrowed one of the bikes they loan to guests, and Bo spent time personally showing me a map of the island and explaining the bike trails.
Every morning there was a beautiful breakfast spread with options of breads, meats, cheeses, yogurt, and my favorite--a make-your-own waffle station. I also ate meals served at the restaurant, and each was tasty and unique, made fresh in the restaurant. You can also order coffee and cake, also homemade, in the afternoons in the common dining area.
My room was spacious and clean, with updated modern furniture. Cleaning staff was prompt and helpful--a light bulb which burned out in my room's entryway was replaced immediately. There's wifi and TV, everything you need.
I loved the easy access to the bike trails, and Lone was always ready at the front desk to help me get a key to borrow a bike. I also walked on the beach, went for runs in the forest, and explored nearby towns of Sorthat Muleby and Hasle. I even biked up the coast to Hammershus, the oldest medieval ruins in Northern Europe. When I got back tired, the common areas in the hotel's outdoor seating areas were the perfect place to sit and rest or read. Each hotel room also has its own little outdoor patio. There's even a quaint mini golf course!
In all, Bornholm is a perfect destination spot whether you're looking to relax or be active. Bo and Lone are perfect and accommodating hosts, and I'm convinced there is nowhere else to stay or eat on Bornholm than Hotel Skovly. You'll experience the best of this Danish island if you stay there.
