You order at their beautifully displayed fish counter (English is good enough to get what you want) and find your seat on their canopied deck (with heaters - no indoor dining here) overlooking a rocky jetty and beach. I had the smoked shrimp which was handed over on a paper plate, and my husband ordered the smoked salmon with sides - a dollop of sour creamy Swedish potato salad, a small lettuce/tomato/cucumber salad dressed with olive oil and vinegar, and a slice of dark bread with butter - which was brought to our table. The reason this place got a 5-star rating from us is that smoked fish doesn't get any better than this - the chili salmon was well-seasoned and expertly smoked, so good that my husband (a true smoked fish lover) went back for a piece of their lemon pepper smoked salmon as his dessert. It was almost creamy in texture with excellent flavor. My head-on smoked shrimp were peel-your-own and loaded with roe, nice texture and flavor without being over-smoked. The counter offers three dipping sauces - a traditional sour cream/dill sauce, a creamy "roe" sauce, and a sweet mustard/dill sauce. I noticed other diners enjoying fried fish, boiled/steamed shrimp, and French fries as well, so there is a range of seafood options available. Nothing fancy here - just top-notch smoked seafood at reasonable prices.

From there it's a nice walk heading east until you hit Jennygatan. Along the walk you'll pass lots of beautiful buildings, chain and independent stores and lots of restaurants. At the corner of Stora Östergatan and Jennygatan there's a food market sometimes with lots of international food stalls. Best of all: the whole street is closed for traffic, so it's a really relaxing walk. Even if you're not a "Wallander"-Fan this town is defintely worth a visit when you're in Southern Sweden. The charming restaurant "Hos Morten Café" on a little side-street is definitely worth a visit....alone for its charming garden setting already.

Indoor tables are available, but whenever weather permitting I recommend you'd sit outside in the lovely garden. We ordered two beers and two Smörrebröd. One with ground beef (like a burger patty) and one with goose liver paté. Presented on a very good piece of typical rye bread and topped with mayo, lettuce, cucumber, crispy onions, tomato, oranges and more. It's a real feast for your eyes. But also very very tasty. Ok, the patty wasn't special, but the combination was. But the liver paté sandwich was definitely the better one here. All in all a good place to grab a cold beer and some lunch. Dogs allowed (in the garden) as well.
