While he isn't as seasoned as my former doctor, it's clear that he genuinely cares about his patients' needs and concerns. He is kind, attentive, and has an excellent bedside manner. At my first phone call, I was invited in within 48 hours. I was expecting 5-8 weeks out. Upon arrival I was welcomed by happy people. Not common these days. They had plenty of help. Also rare. The intake nurse spent twenty minutes with me, making sure she had all of my history and medications correct. The doctor was the same, I never felt rushed, like he needed to run to the next patient. He asked all the right questions and made sure he understood my situation. He asked if I needed any of my meds refilled. I did, two of them. Within 4 hours I received an email from my pharmacy saying that my prescriptions were ready. He actually went and ordered them immediately. That's efficiency! I know it won't always be perfect, but that was a hell of a start!

However,…read moreyesterday I had a problem with one of her office staff and it involved a refill of a blood pressure medication I was out of as of that day. My doctor is not in this office every day. She is in one day and in Blue Ridge another day and that's it as far as I know. I ran out of my blood pressure medication and even though I called the drugstore 4 days before I was going to run out, when I went to pick it up I was told the doctor's office had not called them back to refill it. In the past, when my doctor was not available, one of the other doctors ordered the medication for me. Their names were on the prescription bottle. I made phone calls to the doctor's office and left messages and I went to the drugstore twice and finally I drove over to the doctor's office and the girl I spoke to who was sitting on the left side of the windows told me I'd have to see another doctor in order to get a refill. I was told nobody knew how to get in touch with Dr. Gary. This young lady I spoke to was extremely rude and I got the impression she did not know how important it is for anyone to take blood pressure medication nor did she care what my situation was. So, I left the office quite frustrated. At this point I don't know what to do. I've never, ever been treated so disrespectfully as I was by this employee in any doctor's office. Will I go back or find someone else? I really don't know. I really like my doctor but the fact that I gave 4 days notice that I was about out of my medication and nothing was done about it and I was put through so much agony makes me think I have to do something to protect my health. I need this medication. God forbid I would have a stroke because I didn't have it. I am now taking an old BP medication I had stored away in my medicine cabinet. This is a very frustrating position to be put in.
