It is easy to book either through the mobile App, or through the easy to navigate kiosks right at the train station. Only thing to note is that the trains are on the outside of the main central station on the back side. We had an early 5:00AM train, and the main train station building doors were not open which panicked us for a second until we saw others walking around the side to find the tracks on the back side where the Flytoget trains are parked including their offices and kiosks.

This high-speed train whisks passengers from the airport to Oslo Central Station in a mere 19 minutes[1], making it by far the fastest option. In contrast, driving from the airport to central Oslo typically takes 40-50 minutes[3], over double the travel time of the express train. Traffic and road conditions can also make the drive unpredictable. With the Flytoget, you avoid all that stress and arrive in under 20 minutes, guaranteed. Some other great benefits of taking the Airport Express Train: - Departs every 10 minutes[1], so you never have to wait long - Children under 16 travel for free with an adult[1] - Print your airline bag tags right on the train and skip the airport check-in queues[1] - Comfortable, reliable, and the only high-speed train in Norway[2] For the fastest, simplest, and most convenient way to travel the 50 km between Oslo Airport and the city center, the Flytoget Airport Express Train can't be beat. Once you experience the speed and ease of the 19-minute train ride, you'll never want to drive that route again. Highly recommended for anyone traveling to or from Oslo Airport!

Never take a taxi in Oslo, especially if it's Christiania Taxi…read more Our next stop after Oslo was Göteborg, and instead of flying, my sister and I were taking a train. Even though we could have easily taken a tram to the train station, after our experience at Alexanderplatz in Berlin, we wanted to cab it. We asked the staff at Ellingsens Pensjonat to call a cab for us, and they called Christiania Taxi. (Tip--if staying at Ellingsens Pensjonat, call a cab yourself; they have some sort of "deal" with Christiania Taxi which supposedly gives you a discount on your fare if you're a guest at Ellingsens Pensjonat, but it's a scam.) The cab driver arrived in a timely manner, took our luggage and loaded the cab, and seemed normal and friendly--at first. Then he asked where we were going after Oslo. This may seem like an innocuous question, but his tone wasn't of a friendly, making chit chat kind of manner; there was something off about the way he asked. The way he asked the question made me very suspicious and uneasy, so I reluctantly answered, "Sweden..." He then tried to pressure us into having him drive us to the airport, not the train station, because it would be a longer drive (and thus a higher fare) to the airport. The problem with his little scam was we were taking a fucking TRAIN to Sweden, not flying. Also, if someone asks you to drive them to XYZ destination, do your fucking job and drive them there! We are under no obligation to explain to the cab driver our itinerary, modes of transportation, or why we want to be driven to a certain destination. Just drive us to where we tell you, and STFU. So we got into the cab (yes, we weren't even in the cab yet!), and after a minute, I notice that the fare was much higher than what it should have been for that length of time (we had already taken a cab with another company the previous day, so we had some frame of reference). So I asked the cab driver about the rate, and he was clearly avoiding answering my simple question which was, "What is the initial base rate?" (There was no language barrier; he was just scammin'.) He mumbled something after I kept asking (my question was reasonable, and as a customer, I have the right to know what the base rate is), and I directly asked, "So, the initial base rate is XXX NOK?" He then admitted that the initial rate was XX NOK, and the time from when we got into the cab and distance driven at that point did not account for the difference between the current rate and the base rate. So I outright asked him, "Was the meter on before we got into the cab?" Caught in a scam, the driver angrily replied, "Well it's not my job to carry your bags!" Aside from that having nothing to do with starting the meter before the ride starts (while I don't know the laws and standard practices of taxi companies in Norway, the other company did not start the meter until after we had gotten in the cab, nor did any other cab we used while in Europe), we never asked him to carry our bags--he just grabbed them right away when he arrived. I had to pay with credit card as I was out of cash, and after he ran my credit card (I didn't tip him of course--I'm not sure if you're supposed to tip in Norway, but he wasn't going to get an extra krone out of me), he tried to avoid giving me my Visa receipt (I am one of those people who insists on getting all my credit card and debit receipts, no matter how small the purchase). He started getting out of the cab to open the trunk after running my card, and I demanded my receipt. I had to ask him about three or four times, and he finally gave it to me in a huff, after I told him that I was not leaving the cab until I had my receipt. We got out of the cab and he opened up the trunk, glaring at us like a child, as my sister and I struggled to pull out our large and heavy suitcases.

I was so impressed by this train station, reminding me that America once again lags in public transit systems. I recommend getting an accommodation walking distance to the Oslo sentralstasjon if you're visiting and planning to travel throughout the country. My experience here every time was pleasant. I first arrived to this station from the airport, taking a dedicated train service that gets you directly from the Oslo airport to here. Then I had to visit the train station again when I was traveling westward from Oslo. Make it a point to be nearby this train station for your trip planning. The train station is very clean and easy to navigate. There are signs everywhere of train departure times and locations and it's in English. There were also plenty of places to sit, relax and lots of eateries in the station and nearby. Many hotels are also next to this train station, and there's an area for car pick-up, taxis, etc. I was pleased to have this station so accessible for my Norway vacation, making it easy and pleasant to travel around.

Though the majority of the rest of the gang was a bit skeptical about the whole karaoke thing, I can assure you that one hour in a private karaoke room (and a couple of beers) took care of that! Leaving the bar into the mild summer night, strolling along the river, everyone were in unison stating: "LET'S DO THIS AGAIN!!". The price for the room (which takes a maximum of 9 people, but there's different sizes) was 320 nok/h - divided on six persons it was very resonable, 45 nok each. They have a great database of songs! I found several gems that I've not found on other karaoke bars - Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend by Marilyn Monroe being the triumph of the evening... Bar prices are usual Oslo style, 80-something for a 0,5 l beer. The location is spectacular - right beside the river - and the outdoors seating is colorfull and have infrered heating + rain protection. The staff is sweet and friendly. They don't have their own kitchen, but you can order food from the neighbouring Rice Bolle and get it delivered to Syng with no additional cost. Haven't tried that yet, but I surely will! I liked this place so much that I went back to watch the Euro Cup final later the same the week, with my parents who were visiting from Sweden. Needless to say, they were at least 35 years older then anyone else among the visitors ;) Though, this seemed like a place open minded enough for that (and luckily my parents are as well). And seriously - watching football in a bar is just thay much more fun when the staff is wearing glitter and feather boas!

This is awesome because then normal people like me, who can't sing, and don't really want to sing won't get pressures on a stage by friends in front of people we don't know. Either way, Syng is pretty cool, it is low key, just the way I like it. Tables scattered around, no bathroom line (which is important at a good bar), and pleasant bartenders! It seems like they have some fun events during the week as well, which I cannot wait to try out. Over all it is awesome and I will definitely be back! Also want to point out that they have a super cute outdoor seating section which I will be back to try out on a day it is not raining. Maybe even during the daytime when the sun is actually out! Definitely recommend:)
