Shane's Handyman Service

If you select Shane for your remodeling, repair or replacement projects you have good intuition…read more Shane is a very knowledgeable multi-skilled individual who seems to specialize in just about everything and if he can't do the job he will tell you upfront. Over the last two years he has completed a variety of jobs for me from changing out the overhead kitchen light system, replacing the 35 year old front storm door, painting over the entrance door from a dull weathered brown look to a beautiful red, repairing several drywall cracks and just recently replaced a 40 year old 4-burner cook-top range. His quality of work is outstanding and his costs to perform all jobs are more than reasonable. On top of everything else, Shane is one trustworthy nice guy who is fun to talk to and learn from. .

I would truly love to give a five star rating. If I am to be honest, I can only give a three star…read more purchasing a new home that needs work is a very stressful and trying experience. Shane was referred to me from my realtor. He came out and provided an estimate for the work that needed to be done and I agreed that his estimate was worth the work involved. when it came time for the work to be done, two of the three ceiling fans that I purchased did not work according to Shane, I then contacted the sellers was able to obtain a replacement for one and parts for the second one which would take over 12 weeks to arrive Shane then charged me an additional $150 to come back and address those issues along with finishing the items from the original quote which he claims were included. The screen door that he replaced, the screening is not tight and I'm also unable to lock the screen door as previously could. One of the two fans that didn't work actually had no problem at all. He read the directions incorrectly and the fan worked the entire time but he just wasn't 100% sure. he did however, offer $75 off that fan and since I had flooring put in, I asked him to go ahead and reseat the toilet that the flooring company would not do. That became a whole issue as he was unable to reseat it properly and claimed it was the flooring company or some other issue. The toilet was perfectly seated and fine prior and I was present for the removal, which was quite normal with no additional issues. I quite honestly feel that this man who is extremely nice, just does not have the professional capabilities to provide the services that he claims he is able to do . I I ended up actually fixing quite a few things that he had done incorrectly. My lesson in this, I actually can do quite a few things and I don't need to pay anybody for it. Lesson learned and buyer beware!

Overall, my renting experience with McCullough has been the most positive out of all the landlords…read moreI've dealt with. The apartment was great, the rent was decent, considering everywhere else in town and any maintenance issues I had were taken care of within a reasonable amount of time. They are like clockwork with their spraying of bugs and changing of filters and they even came back to clean an area they know they missed when I checked in without any charges. The staff was friendly, and from my perspective, as long as you get your rent in on time there are no issues to be had. The only complaints I have are in regards to its pet policy and checkout. They charge you $25 dollar pet rent fee and half a months rent for a pet deposit, $150 of which constitutes a nonrefundable "pet privilege fee" which has no bearing on damage done by the pet, they just take that money. This constitutes a lot of money for a small animal, the way I see it, if this your way of saying you don't like pets in your properties, then just don't accept pets. In addition, like most properties, they will nickel and dime you for everything they can come check out. Having done previous interior work for contractors, the $220 they charged me in "damages", in reality should have cost me no more than $100. I objected but figured eventually that I got off light compared to other companies I've dealt with. All in all MDI has been a good experience. Pay your rent on time, take relatively good care of the place and things will go smoothly for you.

Completely unwilling to work with you when you have upstairs neighbors who are making your life…read moremiserable. We exhausted every option and we hoped management would find a solution with us but they pretty much said we were on our own. These neighbors made living there unbearable and McCullough heightened that. Got out of that lease as quick as we could. 0/10.
